hahahah omg he definitely has to constantly smooth things over b/c of the both of them smdh (roland is probably worse, but that’s not really setting the bar too high???) Anyway, I’m also crying b/c I bea basically had three dads growing up??? And I feel like they all spoiled her, haha (I mean idk for sure about cyril but I feel like there was probably some tension between him and aldus, yeah??? and I can see him being more present in beatrice’s life than the others not b/c he cared about her, but b/c he and aldus hated each other and it was more about adlus than beatrice???? but more about my thoughts on that over when we talk about aldus and beatrice) BUT okay so I think that beatrice does love lionel a lot, but she definitely thinks he’s way too uptight and out of touch and basically a little too much like a victorian housewife ;DDD I feel like she rolls her eyes at him a lot and def teases him and probably ignores a lot of what he says, but she still cares a lot about him??? I DO think she’s been careful when it comes to her witchcraft though, b/c she knows its a dangerous thing for other people to find out (although she hates having secrets and that def frustrates her)

like roland though, she definitely speaks her mind a lot and that can probably be frustrating (b/c she will literally say anything oops), especially when there’s lots of guests haha (I mean with roland its more sarcastic and with bea it’s more teasing??)

(So I was watching Nightmare Before Christmas and I was realizing that [a lot of my characters honEStlY real talk: I was in love w Jack as a kid #whoops - but also] deep down Lionel has a bit of Jack the Pumpkin King in him *jumps off a cliff*  Anyway, now I’m laughING SO HArD bc I’m just hearing him listening to what Bea and Roland have done at any given point internally going [WHAT HAVE I DONE] (and just generally when anything doesn’t go according to plan lbr) about raising them bc he’s secretly a Victorian housewife who liVES FOR THE DRaMa heLP cue me about Lionel WHAT HAVE I DONE ;DDD)

BEA HAD THREE DADS GROWING UP!!!!!  but honESTLY!!!!!  I def feel like Lionel was at least as much a father as a brother to his siblings hahaha  ALDUS DEF HARDCORE HAD ISSUES W CYRIL he probs credits himself w inspiring Celeste to kill him off bc if Lionel is a lowkey drama queen, Aldus is a HIGHKEY drama queen *throws confetti*  Meanwhile, Lionel disapproved of both of the other two heLP he was like ‘im literally 11 and I still have the most sense here’ and honestly...he may have had a point ;DDDD  I feel like Lionel’s own relationship w his father was...strained and he’s eternally ticked off at Aldus bc...I mean...Aldus he’s basically everything Lionel hates #whoops  Honestly, (this) is probs a pr apt depiction of Aldus/Lionel, wherein either could be addressing the other at any given time THESE ARE TEARS

OMG BUT CYRIL BEING IN BEA’S LIFE JUST TO MESS W ALDUS THIS IS MY ACTUAL AESTHETIC IM CRYIN (so is aldus)  And Aldus goes hardcore I feel like one time Aldus spotted Cyril like playing w Bea when she was like a toddler and Bea was laughing and Aldus was like lurking in the shadows until Bea ran off and then he just gave this really dramatic speech about how Aldus will haunt Cyril throughout eternity for attempting to steal his daughter’s love and literally it’s just bc Cyril made her laugh heLP (I can feel Lionel rolling his eyes in the bg honeSTly ‘you guys realize you’re making her cry?????’)  Aldus @Cyril like:

jk jk not quite like that but it’s not a huGE exaggeration either...Annnnnyway, now that I’m thinking of it...that honestly might’ve been part of why Lionel went easier on her?????  Bc she had those guys to contend w fighting over her???  And Lionel detests them both so the idea of them forcing themselves into his baby sister’s life?????  How about no??????  I feel like it’s like that scene in The Prestige where Rebecca Hall and Christian Bale are screaming in the next room and their little girl’s outside crying and Farrow or whatever his name was comes over and just scoops her up and takes her off somewhere to comfort her???  Lionel is “Farrow” in this scenario

Honestly she’s not wrong about Lionel hahahaha  He’s def way too much like a Victorian housewife ;DDDD  Honestly, though, I feel like her teasing does noT bring him much levity esp if it’s in public bc there is a way things should!!!! be smdh  In private, he’s a lil more laid back and can take a joke smdh  But honestly I feel like she can still get away w this kind of behavior more than Roland????  Esp bc I mean Li’s uptight but he’s not stupid and he sees the difference between what he views as Roland’s vindictiveness (read: sarcasm) and Bea’s indiscretion (read: teasing) and as a result it doesn’t ruffle his feathers as much?????  But they can both still get away w more than he would usually allow????? smdh

Lionel is beyond glad, though, that she’s careful w the whole witchcraft thing bc I feel like growing up that was probs a worry that kept him up at night Lionel like ‘thank god roland isn’t a witch’ honestly smdh  Lionel probs drags them both into private rooms a lot w a furious expression telling them they need to stop drinking so much or whatever ~more plausible cover~ and then thoroughly tells them off smdh when they protest “This is not a matter for discussion!” <--- Lionel’s dad voice #facepalm

I have such a soft spot for Lionel, Kate.

So I feel like Dot is fond of Lionel. She deff calls him Li lol and I imagine she doesn’t really know that Lionel and Andrea relationship isn’t an ‘in-love-with-you’ relationship? LIKE I feel as if Dot can tell they aren’t head over heels, but I imagine that Drea wouldn’t truly disclose much about her relationship with Lionel to Dot. So in Dot’s mind, she just thinks it’s the type of relationship her sister wants. So yeah, I don’t see Dot disliking Lionel, I actually think she’s glad he’s around and that she could probably ask him for any help and he’d do it?

I mean, he’s been dating Drea for two years, so I’m sure she’s super used to him by now. I can see were Dot already considers him family LOL all three of her sisters are just so much older than her, that I don’t think Dot really questions their relationship decisions nor does she get to hear much about them in general. Or at least hasn’t, maybe now that she’s getting a little older (more mature) and Gigi is living with her things will slowly change. I’m sure if she realized Drea and Lionel really aren’t in love she’d encourage both of them not to marry just because of family principles. However, WHATEVER the case, I’m fully confident that Dot already considers Li her brother.

Also, I mean, Davenports and Storms have know each other for awhile, so I’m sure Lionel has never been a stranger to her. Oh also, Dot has a crush on Lionel’s younger brother…. lol also eventually she’s gonna enamored by Gabriel Storm so ya know, Dot loves the Storm family. PLUS THERE’S ANYA.

ANNIE I LOVE IT <3  S/o to Dot as one of the ppl who can always get away w calling him Li <3333  Also, now that we’ve more or less established that the Storms and Davenports have always kinda known each other, to a degree anyway, I can actually see where Li might actually regard Dot as another younger sister!!  Except, since she’s not a Storm, he doesn’t hold her to the same exacting standards so honestly she’s probs better off ;D

Oh, yeah, no, I do think Lionel and Andrea keep that pr well covered up hahaha  I need to check w Lizzy, ofc, but I def think it isn’t obv, at least at first blush, that their relationship is built on anything but affection hahaha  Bc I mean...it does have an affectionate element!  it’s just...more business than love?  Hahaha idek but anyway, my point is, I think it makes sense that Dot would have that impression!  Esp if Drea’s pulling a big sister and trying to ~protect her from the truth~ or whatever ;DDD  Dot is absolutely right to think that if she asked for help, Lionel’d come through!!  There are a lot of reasons for this hahaha 1) Li believes in acting on behalf of the ~family~ and since he’s marrying Andrea, that nowextends to her sisters in his mind, 2) I think Li actually does genuinely like Dot, 3) he’s just super dependable in general and lbr he actually likes making things happen hahaha 4) he’s a big brother down to his core and he’s a bit of a fixer!!!! as a result hahahah

Oh, yeah, I def agree!  Lionel is 10000% the sort of guy who shows up to all the expected functions and makes the rounds to be certain he’s spoken to everyone and begun forging some sort of relationship w all her family members etc hahaha and he always brings the right sorts of gifts and drives the right sort of car and smdh (I think I can feel his siblings rolling their eyes from here ;DDD)  Anyway!!  My point is he’s v reliable hahaha and so he always shows up and is sure to chat w them all hahahaha so I def think there’s gotta be a degree of familiarity there!  And honestly I think Dot and Lionel are on the same page there, since he def regards the Davenports as his new family, yknow?  Lionel is def more comfortable w fulfilling his duty wo questions than he will be when Dot starts encouraging them not to marry AM I LAUGHING AM I CRYING ~really needs to sort out his priorities~

Hahahahaha ~Dot loves the Storms~ I love it <3  So idk how much Lionel knows about the Roland/Dot connection, but I def think he’d try to steer her away smdh  Lionel would noT think that Dot and Roland are a good match bc in his opinion (again, he has the principles of a stuffy Victorian housewife i cREY), they both need someone to help anchor them and calm them down a little and Dot is on her way there but Roland is noT and Lionel would def just think Roland would just drag her down #brotherlysupport  He wants someone v by the book for Roland and someone who will take care of her for Dot?????? smdh  Honestly he’d 10000% be more on board w Gabriel/Dot but I honestly think he’d rather see Dot turn her eyes outside his family bc his family is...a mess  As it is, though, I know Dot/Anya makes him v, v happy <3

Do we have an idea of what the Davenport family does for their dollars? Is it possible the initial connection between the two families may have come through business as well?

Honestly…I don’t really know.  I do know that they’re primarily based in Monaco, but I feel that they have houses elsewhere, as well, and travel whenever they like.  It could be that part of their travel, however, came out of their business, initially?  I’m not sure.  I didn’t really say what they do bc I wanted to 1) leave things open to plotting so ppl could sort of choose 2) suck at occupations for some reason hahaha so I never formally made any decisions for the really rich ppl hahaha

Speaking of which, I’m not sure what the Storms do, either, outside letting their land to farmers/whatever incomes the title may bring in, etc, tbqh.  Since the huge agricultural downturn in England that ruined lots of ppl in similar positions after the industrial revolution, I feel certain they’ve turned to ~something~ else in addition but I never formally decided what it might be tbqh hahaha  Um, if anyone has ideas/suggestions I’d love to hear them bc I suck at coming up with occupations tbqh hahaha  

That being said, it’s 100% open as a result, so that absolutely could have brought them together!

However, I want to advocate for the Davenports and Stroms having done business with each other / known each other for a long time. They obviously run in similar circles and it sounds like at least, with some of their relationships they have all known each other for a while.

For the business side of things, I think it’ll depend when they began their businesses. For example, the Storms began looking into things in the late Enlightenment/early Victorian period, so I’m inclined to say they were in something like steel or maybe even cargo shipping that saw a boom first in making trains etc and later in the war effort but, though still significant, is less of a commodity today and has thus seen a downturn, as is borne out in the literal fortunes of the Storms. The Davenport history is far more open for debate though so it’s a little harder to pinpoint.

But it sounds like the general consensus is that the Storms and Davenports have been - in some way - associated for awhile, yeah? If so, does this go back a number of generations or are we talking a more ~recent thing? That is, do you think the current characters grew up together or do you think they met sometime during or after childhood?

Also, Lizzy, you’re the last Davenport and I know you haven’t gotten a chance to respond to this so if you agree/disagree/have something to add to what we’ve already talked about in addition to what we've moved on to, pls do!! We’d love to hear your thoughts!!! Nothing's set in stone!!

kate!!! i think julian and lionel are similar in a lot of ways?? except julian is sorta the softer version of lionel lmfao julian looks like he could kill u but is actually a cinnamon roll while lionel looks like he could kill u and would actually kill u (◕‿◕✿) when julian was younger, he probably looked up to lionel a lot, because lionel represented what julian has always wanted to be / what he is expected to be.

I LOVE JULIAN AS THE SOFTER VERS OF LI!!!!!!!  Julian having looked up to Li #bYE <333333  Honestly, I feel like Li was always there to give Julian advise or whatever when he wanted, too, and def was supportive of him on his journey to becoming the Griffith of whom his father had always dreamed hahaha  Also, if anyone understands the pressure he’s under 24/7 it’s Lionel!  I mean, his dad is gone but never forgotten, not to mention he has 64588204436 ancestors breathing down his neck so he might live under a different ~sort of pressure, but he still totally gets it!!!  I can also potentially see Lionel being a lil protective of Julian (in his own way hahaha) bc of this relationship?  Esp bc I feel like they grew up together/around each other, possibly?

I feel like the feeling is honestly mutual????? and I feel like blaise isn’t ~super~ close with any of his siblings and so he’s just extra happy to have lionel??? like he’s his cousin/best friend, but also in a lot of ways, he’s the older brother he never had???? and omg, blaise feels bad for feeling this way, but he’s also just really happy that lionel is gonna be the next earl and not him b/c blaise DOES NOT WANT haha. but ahhh yes, there is literally no chance of blaise EVER revealing lyndhurst’s secrets!!! like there’s nothing that you could do to him to get him to betray lyndhurst/his family b/c he literally lives and breaths for them hahah

anyway, I feel like blaise is a serious dude most of the time, but not as serious as lionel and I feel like maybe he can get him to smile/laugh/relax every now and again??? I also feel like they are probably good for each other’s sanity haha just like living @ lyndhurst w/ all the crazy and i GET the feeling that they can sit down together and hash things out rationally??? b/c I feel like a lot of their family is a little more ~emotional~ sometimes????

Oh, I absolutely agree!!  In a lot of ways, I think Blaise is more a brother to Lionel than Roland, simply thanks to the age difference???  I mean, obv Roland is his bro I don’t mean that, it’s just I don’t think Lionel feels parental towards Blaise, whereas he does towards Roland, yknow???  I feel like Lionel was always v mature etc hahaha and I feel like by 11 he was almost an adult, really, in terms of outlook, but by 8 he still had some growing up to do.  And, I mean, 8 and infant are clearly v different life stages hahaha but still it’s closer than 11 and infant hahaha  

Yes!!!!  I feel like these two are honestly just super tight!!  I also feel like they have v, v similar priorities and often work together to achieve their ends in the interests of those priorities, yknow?  And honestly, Lionel is - I wouldn’t say happy, exactly? - content to be the Earl and if he knows Blaise feels that way, he’s happy to stand between him and the Earldom, though he’d honestly rest easier if Blaise were his heir instead of Roland *Lionel side eyes Roland’s life choices (always)*  But that’s not gonna be as big a deal soon s/o to Andrea

NOT AS SRS AS LIONEL *meanwhile Lionel is not even smiling at that ;D*  Honestly, that’s not setting the bar v high ;DDDD  No, but honestly, having Blaise in his life is probs the #1 reason that at 37 he hasn’t died of a stress induced heart attack already tbqh  I def agree that he can get him to smile and relax and sometimes even laugh!!  I also feel like Lionel is someone who’s honestly v guarded like 99% of the time, but I feel like he lets that down a bit when he’s w Blaise bc he’s one of the few ppl he trusts implicitly w 100% of things, yknow???  Like, he knows if he entrusts something w Blaise, he will come through, and that they 100% have each other’s backs etc etc etc and I feel like atp there’s not really anyone else he feels that way about 100% of the time???  Like, even Andrea and Tony, for instance, don’t know the ~whole truth~ and his mom went and murdered his dad?????????? which kinda brings up some trust issues right there ;DDDDD  Oh, yeah, absolutely!!  I think if Lionel is ever feeling conflicted or whatever about something, Blaise is the one he’s gonna wanna bounce things off of bc yesss I agree that the rest of their family is more emotional hahaha and these two can put that aside (in Lionel’s case, much too easily hahaha) and find a rational solution/conclusion...and, ironically, that means the world to him

Anyyyywayyy hahaha  Ok, so every single person in the family (living or dead) ~can fit in Lyndhurst bc it’s this sprawling mass of worn stone which dominates the entire landscape of their already massive property.  All Storms (or yknow cousins or whatever who know the truth etc) are always welcome to come live at Lyndhurst forever.  

However, if the 58690756324567890876543567890 ghosts/relatives start to wear on them or whatever, there are several houses dedicated to the family and, if none of those suit them, there are a number of cottages from which to choose as well.  That being said, though, choosing a cottage rather than a family house is a little eccentric unless all the other houses are spoken for/they choose Sunnyside (though even that’s a lil iffy, it’s just ~most acceptable of the cottages?????).  If they’re just done, though, they can go to Beckley but that’s kind of considered a ~statement and a lil rebellious...or they can just leave altogether (like Victor though in his case it’s a lil different bc he’s a Carrington not a Storm so it’s not actively against the ~Storms hahaha) but that’s considered next to disowning the Storm family and is usually viewed as a slight smdh

I definitely think its probably only been a handful of times… and honestly, if he and drea came over to visit, gigi was like “oh hi, nice to meet you” to li and then it was drea drea drea all the rest of the time because she’s obsessed with her sisters and literally never wants to waste a moment when she’s with drea or dot. so, sorry about that to him haha. do you think the storms and davenports knew each other BEFORE drea and li started dating? mostly just out of curiousity… i feel like even if their families had socialized, gigi was probably not around that much being off dancing or whatever.  

i mentioned this to lizzy, but i definitely think gigi is under the impression li and drea are in love and everything and the idea this is a marriage of duty hadn’t even crossed her mind.

Lionel would find that 100% understandable!!  He was simply happy to have had the opportunity to meet Gigi and he would not at all put out unless she was deliberately snubbing bc he’s v into upholding standards of all types and a snub to the Earl of Wynterford is a snub to all of House Storm and must be rectified!!! (smdh)  But somehow I doubt she was snubbing him hahaha and, in that case, he would not only understand, but approve bc thE most important virtue one can have, in his book, is familial loyalty, so he honestly takes their closeness as a good sign.

So this is a question I actually think I’m gonna do a general ooc post about so we can hash out the details???  I was talking to Lizzy about how Li and Drea met and we were both just kinda going ????????? hahahaha  I 90% think that the Storms and Yorks have always been intertwined, but given that the Davenports are based in Monaco, it may (or may not, given their own connection to the Yorks) have been less likely for them to meet?????  Hahaha so I’ll probs make a general thing and we can all speculate accordingly <3  In any case, though, I feel that they’d most likely at least ~heard of each other, given the York connection/they’re in basically the same social circle?

I def think it makes sense for Gigi to draw that conclusion, all things considered hahaha  Plus, there’s the fact of the matter that Lionel, I think, does genuinely love Andrea...he’s simply not ~in love~ with her, yknow?

How long have these two families known each other?  Let’s figure this out! <3  Ok, so here’re the facts:

Lionel and Andrea have been dating for about 2 years, so they’ve at least known each other that long

The Davenports are based in Monaco; the Storms are based in England

The Davenports are cousins of the Yorks with whom the Storms are also associated (that is, they could have met while Roland and Lina were dating or some other time, given the York/Storm business interactions)

The Storm and Davenport social circles, in general, are intertwined (note: that could have happened post Li/Drea)

Asp, the two families were close enough for the Storms to spend at least one summer with the Davenports in Monaco (note: this also may have happened after Li/Drea)

So what does everyone think?  Have they always known each other?  Is their acquaintance more recent?  Something in between?  I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts!!!

Anyways… I feel like Anya doesn’t know what to do with Li. I can see where she often finds him overwhelming (in general) but loves his determination. Anya tends to get along with males in authority more than females (thanks to her momma) even if she doesn’t show it. So I’m sure she’s happy to an extent that Lionel has authority and if she needed something she’d come to him. Since we last talked about witchcraft… My guess is that since her mother knows about her being a witch since the belly days, wouldn’t all the Storms know Anya is a witch? So, even if he knows that, he wouldn’t know that she’s actually able to use conscientious magic. Since only Oz and Ro know about that. I don’t know if Anya is going to be ready to EVER share with the masses that she can preform magic. LOL. She’s like lets keep that in the bottle. Power scares her and she just doesn’t want anyone to know. BUT YES, I think she doesn’t mind Lionel and probably enjoys all the positive words he has to say about her. :)

Hahahah honestly Li is a lil overwhelming ngl once again Anya proves her sanity ;DDDD  He’s honestly so proud of her, but that being said he’s not a touchy-feely fellow, so he’s probs difficult to get a handle on, in a lot of ways???  Like, if you do well, he’ll come over and put his hand on your shoulder and sort of make a kind of vaguely fond expression if you’re in public bc it wouldn’t do to show a lack of decorum in public by hugging (everyone: ‘what century do you think this is, lionel??????’  i crey he honestly has the sensibilities of a victorian housewife sometimes smdh)  But that being said, if they were alone, he might touch her face and actually say, “You’ve made House Storm proud today” which is honestly the greatest compliment of which he’s capable smdh  But yes!  

Yes, all the Storms know she’s a witch!!  I hadn’t yet coined the terms ‘immaculate’ and ‘conscientious’ magic hahaha and I just meant that...he doesn’t know she can do things at will aka doesn’t know she’s achieved conscientious magic, yknow?  Some witches never achieve conscientious magic so, while he finds it disappointing that she supposedly hasn’t, he finds it plausible and it doesn’t occur to him that Anya would ever hide something like that bc he views it as the duty of any Storm to offer all their greatest powers to the Storm cause and he def thinks that - unlike Roland and Ambrose - Anya is a “team player” so to speak and if he ever found out she was concealing her conscientious magic, he would be terribly disappointed in her for hiding it from him, but proud that she’s such a powerful witch!!!!  But yeah!  That doesn’t matter atm!  What matters is that atm she’s the golden child and can do no wrong and he’s just so proud of her <3333

okay so andrea is pretty much on the same page as lionel, in regards to this?? like she doesn’t love him, but she does care about him/respect him/like him and all of that combined with the fact that her parents more than approve, he’s basically everything she’d ever dared to hope for in a husband??? like I think she always knew (even when she was dating ryan who I feel like she may have actually loved once??? that it wouldn’t work b/c her parents would never approve ++ then he went and messed things up – but even if he hadn’t, I don’t think she would have stayed with him)

BUT yeah, I think that she’s hoping that they’ll care more for each other as time goes by, but she’s not holding out for that, either #facepalm

all of that being said, I think it would hurt her if she found out that he has feelings for emily??? not that she can blame him, really, and I think she does trust him enough never to act on those feelings but it still isn’t an ideal situation when the guy you are gonna marry is in love w/ someone else.

as far as drea ++ the supernatural goes … honestly I’m not sure how she would react to that?? I don’t think she’d ever say a word to anyone else about though, so his secret, at least, is safe. I feel like it might make her want to reconsider this whole thing (probably even more than if she finds out about emily lol), but ultimately, I think she’d decide to stick with him, despite it … like it would take her awhile to get used to the idea, but I think that she’d eventually come to the realisation that sticking with lionel is probably better than the alternative which is a) trying to come up with a good enough reason for her parents which would only be that b) she’s found an even better match than lionel storm and I think she knows that the odds of that are very unlikely if she’s actually gonna like the guy she’s gonna marry … I mean idk for sure b/c it might end up just being way too weird for her and she might just have to split but for certain, I do know that she’d never tell anyone about it, so there’s that, at least??

they’ve known each other since forever! their families are involved together and they’re ~family friends~

they’ve always sort of been in the same circles or whatever but they’ve never really been close or anything till 2/3 years ago or whatever

they’d never met before then!  i mean, they’d probs heard the names ‘davenport’ and ‘storm’ around or whatever, but their families actually met fairly recently

drea’s charity had some sort of ball or something a couple years ago and they sort of hit it off and the rest was history

Poor Andrea!!!  Like, on every level, this sucks so much for her!!  Like, she’s entering into a loveless marriage to benefit someone else; it turns out her fiance not only isn’t in love w her, but  is actually in love w someone else; then it turns out that she’s marrying into a family that’s literally cursed???????; plus, by setting foot here, she’s now doomed to haunt here for all eternity and, if she happens to ~not die here, this time, she will be unwilling dragged back in the hopes that she someday will?????????  Like this deal is so????? sour??????  And it keeps???? getting worse???? all!!!!! the time!!!!!!!

But honestly, he couldn’t appreciate her discretion more if he tried!!!!!  It literally means everything to him and he’d be so proud and happy like ‘i knew i could trust you’ bc there’s a part of him that doubts he can trust anyone.  But honestly he’d 1000% get it if she backed out when she found out????  And honestly he’d rather she do that than try and not be able to handle it????

okay so I feel like that’s also true in how roland views lionel??? like I’m getting the sense that their dad was kinda neglectful and when he wasn’t ignoring his kids, his kids wished he was haha and so I think that lionel has actually filled that father role more than anyone else in roland’s life??? and okay so I think that he def loves him a lot but he does NOT understand him and a lot of lionel’s life choices frustrate roland

so like i know we talked about the storm ~family dinners~ briefly once and honestly that feels like a perfect example of that – like lionel just wants the family to sit down and have a nice dinner and for it all to be perfect and meanwhile roland knows that it won’t be/can never be and makes a point of pointing out everything that’s wrong all while making sarcastic and blunt comments to include (but not limited to) how their mom probably killed their dad ~thumbs up emoji~

and I think lionel’s expectations for him and lyndhurst and the future all seem so unrealistic to roland and I feel like roland is determined to show him just how fucked up everything is and I kinda feel like sometimes he acts out literally just to piss his brother off??? and so when lionel is getting more and more strict with roland, roland gets worse and worse haha and it’s beautiful

but yeah I do think that he was better when he was with evelina??? and I think she did help to bring out a better and softer side of him but now that they’ve broken up, I think that he’s gotten even worse, haha. honestly, I think he’s been getting progressively worse and lionel should worry b/c there’s every chance that he’s gonna die in a fiery car crash or overdose or sometime but I CRY b/c the more his mom and/or lionel try to pull his back, the harder he’s gonna push away and WHAT A FAMILY I’M JEALOUS

WHEN HE WASN’T IGNORING HIS KIDS THEY WISHED HE WAS ~honestly~  I CREY (when Aldus Storm is arguably more cut out to be a parent than you are, it’s time to give up forever)  Honestly, I feel like Lionel spent a lot of time trying to ~encourage~ dear old dad to do his own thing and know his kids were taken care of honestly hahaha but I feel like that sometimes worked, sometimes backfired but probs for effort????  

buT ANYWAY that feeling is absolutely mutual!  Whenever Lionel thinks about Roland’s life choices, he just comes up like ?????????????????????????? like honestly almost nothing he does makes any???? earthly sense to Lionel smdh  I mean, Lionel’s most commonly used nickname is arguably Your Lordship which I think kinda outlines his priorities pr well ;DDDDDD  Roland dated a (sensible) York girl...and that’s about all Lionel can say for Roland that Lionel ~gets smdh

INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MOM KILLING DAD IM YELLING  (Lionel as Tywin Lannister tbh) esp the part where he’s staring down Joffrey and Tyrion those are all honestly classic Lionel Storm faces smdh (who’m I kidding all Tywin faces are Lionel faces #facepalm).  Honestly, I feel like Lionel usually just shoots Roland IF LOOKS COULD KILL expressions and gradually works his way up to saying “Roland,” v sternly until he finally stands and shouts “ENOUGH!” (this reaction is probs warranted by accusations of murder tbqh this is a v upsEttiNG subject for Lionel and he deals about as well w it as he deals w other things smdh)  Depending how #done he is by the time he gets to that point, he either begins haraguing the whole #familydinner assembly or just Storms (heh) out, but regardless, he def finds Roland later and tells him off for that “display at dinner” *thumbs up*  This is probs a much calmer (though equally stern) conversation about Roland, Roland’s life, and Roland’s choices so it’s def a v fun discussion ;DDDDD  

At first, he makes all kinds of uncomfortable faces and shoots him glares and tries to continue like nothing happened though?????????  Lionel isn’t exactly in denial - he completely comprehends (and disapproves) of their problems - but he will not brook their open discussion in public (even if the only public is like yknow Bea and Celeste) these are matters to be discussed in groups of no more than three at a time and never to be opened to committee!  ;D

Roland’s efforts to show him the situation just, in his opinion, engender disquiet and he’s always like IM MANAGING IT bc he literally sees his whole life’s purpose as steering Lyndhurst away from disaster, essentially.  So, in a way, he sees Roland pointing out all the flaws as a lack of faith in Lionel????  ACTS OUT TO PISS HIM OFF honestly he’s def v successful in this goal and Lionel is like what!!!! am i going to do!!!!!! w him!!!!!!  Bc he wants the v best!!!! for him, it’s just that Lionel’s definition of “the v best” is pr different, probs, from Roland’s hahaha  And he asks himself where he went wrong, why Roland is sabotaging himself at every chance?????  And I do think he blames himself for that and wants ~more for Roland but he needs Roland cooperation to accomplish that!!!!!  It’s rough ;D

OMG Lionel was probs in his happy place when Roland and Evelina were together then hahahah and, as a result, it’s probs part of why he’s all the more like I KNOW YOU CAN DO BETTER WHY WONT YOU EVEN TRY @roland all the time (although honestly he always had that faith in him tbqh and when they were together he was like i always knew it!!!!!!)  So now he’s probs like SO I NOTICED LINA IS BACK HERE *hint hint* which probs helps nothINg but Lionel tries????  BUt he won’t push that too much mostly he’s like YOU CAN DO BETTER SO YOU WILL basically??????  He’s like ‘we expect your cooperation’ basically??????

THEY’RE NOT ECCENTRIC, THEY’RE JUST MIDDLE CLASS I’M CRYING!!!!!

okay so whenever I think of Fiona and the Storms, I just think about the story of when Annemarie first met her first boyfriend’s family??? Like, idk if I ever told you this story, but basically they are having this huge “picnic” (they say picnic but it was more like a banquet). Okay, so my mom is like “oh you should take a covered dish!!!!” And goes on and on about how it is the polite thing to do and so Annemarie ends up taking fresh sliced strawberries and blueberries. Anyway, they are SUPER wealthy (like several houses in Europe wealthy) and she gets there and they have this really over the top spread laid out and when she hands them the (very insignificant in comparison) bowl they are like “what???? are??? we??? supposed??? to??? do??? with ???? this???” and Annemarie said that though they thanked her, she was under the impression that they were actually offended like she’s bringing food b/c she doesn’t think they can provide for all of their guests #facepalm

And like, I can totally see that kind of thing happening to Fiona??? Like she’s so grateful that they are hosting them and so she bakes a cake or something and brings it to some dinner or whatever and they are like ?????? and put it out next to something that looks like this ;DDD

The only difference is that I don’t think Fiona would realize that it’s awkward like Annemarie did #facepalm

Yes! I can imagine he definitely would have met Gigi… maybe not been around her quite as much as Andrea’s other sisters, since she has such a busy schedule/lives in Paris. But undoubtedly Gigi sent Andrea tickets to a ballet and was like “Hi, these are for you. And also your boyfriend. Please bring him here because I need to meet him OKBYE.” And I feel like as long as Lionel makes Andrea happy, he’s good in Giselle’s book.  That being said… if she even has the slightest thought his feelings might be wavering… she will probably turn sour on him instantaneously.

That totally makes sense!  Do you think they’ve probably only met a handful of times, in that case?  Either way, though, Li’d def have lots of respect for Gigi!  Honestly, I think they’ve got a lot of the same values or at least mindset?  Li is also a big fan of the arts and I feel like he’d have a lot of appreciation for her talent and drive!  Hahaha yesss totally understandable even in Lionel’s mind hahah  But, if he can do anything at all about it, he will nEVer let his ~other affections show.  He feels he owes that to Andrea and he does care about Andrea it’s just...more a marriage of duty than love hahaha  But in any case, he honestly feels like his eye wandering is def cause for disquiet and he honestly feels he deserves her ire, as a result.
