every time a parent comes out to talk about how their child committed suicide during/after undergoing conversion therapy, everybody who would never send their child to conversion therapy is like “damn, you tortured your child to death” and everybody who would send their child to conversion therapy is like “damn, your child really was super mentally ill and fucked up and you should have tried harder to make them normal” like, I’m so glad that they come out to speak about the mistake they made and try to dissuade other parents from hurting their children but these people fundamentally do not care if conversion therapy kills gay and transgender kids or even if it works. conversion therapy needs to be banned outright because most of the parents who send their children to conversion therapy simply want to punish them and no amount of scientific and first hand testimonial evidence will make them rethink that.
