feel free to use the icons as pfps :)
please learn from what happened. remember that even the brightest people can be in pain. you never know what’s going on inside person’s minds.
be kind.
Jonghyun was one of the most thoughtful artists I’ve ever followed. His support for the lgbt community and his advocacy for mental health has been a beacon of hope in an industry that denies both. I can’t even put in words how much he will be missed and how much this hurts.
in a genre like kpop where everything that is shown to the public is carefully planned and idols are always happy and smiling in public, this is just a reminder to us that they are humans living in a human world too. their lives may look perfect but we really don’t know what they feel inside. rest in peace jonghyun
Rest In Peace, Kim Jonghyun. Thank you for your voice, your love, your smiles and for inspiring and making millions of people happy. You will forever live on in our memories.
Rest well my beautiful prince
Can 2018 be the end of fanwars? The end of comparison of groups? The end of hate altogether?
This should be a reminder that it doesn’t matter who has more daesangs on display. It doesn’t matter if your faves are popular or not. It doesn’t matter. None of it does.
What matters is love. Support. Kindness.
What matters is that our idols are human too. They feel sadness, lonlieness, and worthlessness as well as happiness and laughter. They can be in a stadium with 20,000 people yet feel alone standing on that stage with their members; their fans right in front of them.
Everyone, please be kind to yourselves. Feed your body (even if you ‘don’t feel like eating’) because your body still needs energy to survive. Remember to water yourself because we also need water to survive. Sleep. Sleep helps the mind heal. If you’re having trouble getting to sleep, try using guided meditation or amsr or the sound of rain (I use Rain Rain on my iPad personally) to help you get into a restful state.
Please be kind to others as well. Remember that there are 5 stages of grief, and we all move through them at different paces. Some find comfort in spree posting, some post a memorial post, others will post one or two things and then post other things, and still others need to log off until the rawness of the grief isn’t so present.
Let yourself cry, let yourself mourn, but don’t let yourself become stuck in it.
If you’re in crisis, reach out and talk with someone - chat line, hotlines, trusted family or friends, send me an ask on tumblr even - do not try to deal with it yourself. You are not alone, no matter what your dark thoughts your mind is able to come up with.
We remember, we mourn, and yet we still have to deal with every day tasks. School, work, parenting, none of it takes a day off sadly. Just be kind to yourself and others if it takes them or yourself a little longer to accomplish those tasks.
Jonghyun, Thank you for everything you’ve done these past 10 years. All the people you’ve helped overcome things just by being yourself. It’s sad that no one could do the same for you. You’ll be missed and remembered, always.
“A few years ago, I was crying and whining at my mom and sister while I was really drunk. I asked my mom and sister… it wasn’t long after we’d moved. I asked them if they were happy. I got drunk and woke up my entire sleeping family, like some ahjussi. It had been my number one goal in life, you know, to make my mom and sister happy. They both woke up and told me they were happy. But I was so envious at the fact that they were able to reply that they were, indeed, happy. Because it wasn’t like that for me. I told them while sobbing: I want to be happy too. Then I felt like I’d done my mom and sister wrong. But from then on, I started contemplating about happiness. For about six months, I pondered specifically over what I would need to do to become happy. I think that time of transformation has come. I think I need to be happy, now. I must become happy. I am going to be happy.”
Rest in Peace. You will be missed, our dear Jonghyun. Life may have been cruel now, but I hope you find another life where you’ll achieve your happiness. Sing on in heaven, and watch over the boys and shawols you left behind. We aren’t angry, we aren’t going to curse you, you won’t be remembered for how you died but for how you lived. You touched millions of hearts and graced a gift upon this world that can never be replaced. You’ll live on in our hearts and within the happiest memories we shared these last ten years. Go In peace, this is our final goodbye.Let’s meet again.
