we gotta get back to torrent distribution, i just watched someone eat eight grand in bandwidth charges because they ran a direct-download piracy site with local file hosting through cloudflare. torrents were invented literally for this exact reason

i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3

unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it

i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map

i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs

this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.

crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.

The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.

"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.

"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.

"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.

"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.

"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.

"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.

"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.

"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.

Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.

📝As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. If you want to go fancy Michaels is always a good place for traditional supplies. They also get in some good sales and discounts. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are usually more expensive.

For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.

So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.

I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.

Guess who watched the movie ✨️ i wasn't originally going to, but a link naturally ended up on my dash, so. Paramount+ doesn't exist in my country anyway, they don't want my money.

Overall, great movie. I really liked it. I had a good time. I'm 14 again seeing atla for the first time and I'm feeling many emotions about it.

I give it a solid 8/10, points reduced mainly for continuity errors such as Zuko's lightning scar, and the blatant lack of Suki (and really the changed voice actors too, but it wasn't as jarring as I thought it would be). In all fairness, they might still fix the scar. But they can't fix the nonexistence of Suki.

Where's my girl Suki at. I knew she wasn't gonna be in this for whatever reason, but they even cut her out of the flashback/recap of the series finale? Why are we acting like she wasn't THERE?

Is there a reason Aang no longer has a glider? Seriously, he used to not go anywhere without that thing. Where did it go? He clearly has a whole collection of them and yet he keeps yeeting himself into the void freefall style.

Seeing the Air Temple tower break with the entire collection inside really hurt my heart. That was personal. And Aang didn't even get a chance to grieve it.

There is no way you can convince me that in the past 5000 years there wasn't even one insane madlad that said "i'm gonna climb the impossibly huge mountain". We all know what's happening on mount everest. Sooner or later, someone's gonna make it to the top. Unless i guess only airbenders can breathe up there? Maybe?

Tagah took the information of his long nap and all that pretty well. Like. He just immediately starts talking about everything and everyone in past tense without issue. No hesitation no getting used to it period. "Oh they're all dead. Ok" Aang had a whole breakdown about it why does Tagah jump straight to acceptance.

I do love the implication of there being one pangea style continent on one side of the planet, and on the other side there is nothing but ocean and one(1) singular tiny island in the middle of it. I want to see an updated world map

Also did they really get there within the span of a few hours or did we timeskip over presumably weeks, during which nobody had any meaningful conversations at all, we save those for when we arrive. That island has to be a bit of a trip away from everything, no?

Overall review

I really like Tagah, he's a great villain and his motivations are realistic and painful. Not a fan of the weird demon-spirit form thing, but oh well. He was really cool up until that point. I kind of wish he hadn't died? I'm not entirely sure why he did tbh.

The line delivery was a bit awkward but as far as i'm aware this isn't a fully finished version (there were some minor odd animation moments too). The storm scene in particular felt like a video game ("come on, we have to clear a path!" said over and over like you're playing Aang and this is the level lmao)

Also, i overall like the animation style, but. Bear with me when I say this. They made them all too hot. What i mean is, they (Zuko especially) look like thirst traps. No doubt because he's the fan favorite. But they don't look like realistic people, if that makes any sense? Everywhere I see there's Zuko smut now, and I get it, but, god, y'all really only like him for the looks now, don't you? Is anybody else still here for Zuko? As a person? I don't want him to look like a sculpted bodybuilder, I want him to look like a healthy and happy young man who's healing. Why is he walking around like he can save the fire nation with his abs? He's special to me. He (very literally) saved my life. I am not here because he's conventionally attractive, idgaf about that. Please make him look human. I beg. Hydrate that poor man.

Ok just finished this movie (same reason: I don't have paramount+ so it doesn't change much for me anyway) and 👏yes👏to👏everything👏

It was a nice movie, it's beautiful, the scenario is not groundbreaking but fine — overall nice movie, I'm 15 again and the nostalgia hits hard.

That being said (under the cut):

-Suki where???

-Their lines are. painful. sometimes.

-Toph exists for 3 min and 2 scenes. Zuko is eye-candy only.

-Soka is painfully "comic character" coded and that's his whole personality.

-Katara is incredible, so pretty, I love her and she had my whole attention the whole time. She's also the only one of the gaang to have like. an actual personality. (apart from Aang)

- it's missing interactions. there are jokes between the gaang, great, but we don't see friendship. Katara and Aang are the only ones to have fleshed out interactions, all the other ones are cartoonish (derogatory) or are just commenting what's happening.

I'm just. I did like the movie because it was beautiful, everyone and everything was so pretty, the *nostalgia* once again. But. It was so surface level? Where's the lore, the banter, the creativity? Heavy on the lore.

Ngl I'm just gonna wait for the fanfics and be happy but,,,, I liked the movie but I'd give it a 6.5 tbh. It's really fun and beautiful and nice! But where's the story? We only got 1min of Aang in the temple before it got destroyed, we learned nothing about his culture (Sonam and Togah don't count, they lived hundreds of years before Aang, their culture would have been pretty different) which is a shame. And then we get the new antagonists and they just become ridiculous goons? They had potential!! Why make Togah evil? Aang could have come to the final conclusion without Togah being evil I feel like and it would have been nice to see another good air bender that isn't dead. Also we're completely missing the point of "non-benders are not happy and there's discrimination rising" — sure, it leads to Korra's plot, but it's a miss imo.

I don't know, I have mixed feelings about it. Loved it for the visuals, music and nostalgia, the story was simplistic but overall fine — but it was missing sooooo much for it to be an actual good movie imo?

They build up the Deniers and then just... do nothing. That one girl ended up an acolyte, great, but the others? Did they all just... go to jail? Run away? They sure aren't welcome in Republic City now, are they? Okay, they didn't address it in the movie, but LoK implies they just never addressed it until Korra did? They even had that scene in the beginning where some kids are basically calling Sokka useless because he's not a bender. The benders are getting entitled as hell about it, no wonder the nonbenders end up getting pushed past the limit soon enough. Teach your children manners, damn. Especially since Sokka DID help save the world! He DID do that! Of all the people to make fun of, he's not the one. Respect the boomerang.

Honestly, I probably would rate the movie lower if it wasn't for the nostalgia too. If I didn't already know all of these characters and their bond... i would not know them or their bond. Because the movie did not tell me. Katara has some agency (which is quickly overruled by Aang), and everyone else is just kinda along for the ride. But it did give me very many feelings and I have to give it credit for that one.

Also, let's be real. 14 year old me would not have survived this movie. I would've been turned to dust. Disintegrated. I was not ready. I understand why they had to wait to make this.

The scenario is also kind of annoying me because,,,, the city survived for 60ish years, *surely* someone addressed the entitlement of benders and the start of discrimination? esp with Sokka RIGHT THERE getting the brunt of it? Again. Sokka. As you said. The worst non-bender to dismiss because of non-bending. Also the fact that he got demoted to "wild inventor back home" instead of actively involved in Republic City is,,,,, hm. not happy about it. At least it makes sense for Toph, I can see her becoming a police officer after the events of the movies (even if it doesn't truly fit her character and would have been better for Suki, but it's canon, so). But Sokka? Please. He would have been just as involved as Aang and Katara with Republic City. But he doesn't get a personality that's not comic relief so *fingerguns*

But again. Surely they tried things before people started a cult?? it can fail, that's fine, it even makes for a better story imo, but at least try to talk and raise awareness or smth, idk? They just. stuck a "peacemaker" tag on Aang's forehead and then never address it again. Peacemaker goes further than just "I don't want to kill people" and scenarists truly forget about it. Sure, it means less "Air Nomad Mysteries" but we would have actual lore and interactions and i would have preferred that I think. We don't need magical plots, Korra got that covered.

Anyway. I just. Not a fan of the scenario at all. It was cool to see Aang's feelings about his people and I wished we went further to what "his people" were like. Even just little cultural things like meals, traditions, clothes and stuff, sharing the culture with his current family, hell with Republic City as a whole, would have been a better road to explore imo. Tagah is great for one thing : letting Aang learn about other ways to airbend than what he learned, considering he was a child when he fled. He's not a master at all. But!! It would have been so good to see more! To have Tagah become an actual master and Aang experiments creatively with airbending like he used to!! Or getting stuck in old ways to preserve what he can : that'd have been such a good plotline!! But no, we got homicidal Tagah soooooooo,,,, heh. I'm a biiit annoyed at all the potential this movie had and what they choose to explore (which is : kinda nothing except cool bending scenes).

I really like Tagah, he's a great villain and his motivations are realistic and painful. Not a fan of the weird demon-spirit form thing, but oh well. He was really cool up until that point. I kind of wish he hadn't died? I'm not entirely sure why he did tbh.

The line delivery was a bit awkward but as far as i'm aware this isn't a fully finished version (there were some minor odd animation moments too). The storm scene in particular felt like a video game ("come on, we have to clear a path!" said over and over like you're playing Aang and this is the level lmao)

Also, i overall like the animation style, but. Bear with me when I say this. They made them all too hot. What i mean is, they (Zuko especially) look like thirst traps. No doubt because he's the fan favorite. But they don't look like realistic people, if that makes any sense? Everywhere I see there's Zuko smut now, and I get it, but, god, y'all really only like him for the looks now, don't you? Is anybody else still here for Zuko? As a person? I don't want him to look like a sculpted bodybuilder, I want him to look like a healthy and happy young man who's healing. Why is he walking around like he can save the fire nation with his abs? He's special to me. He (very literally) saved my life. I am not here because he's conventionally attractive, idgaf about that. Please make him look human. I beg. Hydrate that poor man.

Ok just finished this movie (same reason: I don't have paramount+ so it doesn't change much for me anyway) and 👏yes👏to👏everything👏

It was a nice movie, it's beautiful, the scenario is not groundbreaking but fine — overall nice movie, I'm 15 again and the nostalgia hits hard.

That being said (under the cut):

-Suki where???

-Their lines are. painful. sometimes.

-Toph exists for 3 min and 2 scenes. Zuko is eye-candy only.

-Soka is painfully "comic character" coded and that's his whole personality.

-Katara is incredible, so pretty, I love her and she had my whole attention the whole time. She's also the only one of the gaang to have like. an actual personality. (apart from Aang)

- it's missing interactions. there are jokes between the gaang, great, but we don't see friendship. Katara and Aang are the only ones to have fleshed out interactions, all the other ones are cartoonish (derogatory) or are just commenting what's happening.

I'm just. I did like the movie because it was beautiful, everyone and everything was so pretty, the *nostalgia* once again. But. It was so surface level? Where's the lore, the banter, the creativity? Heavy on the lore.

Ngl I'm just gonna wait for the fanfics and be happy but,,,, I liked the movie but I'd give it a 6.5 tbh. It's really fun and beautiful and nice! But where's the story? We only got 1min of Aang in the temple before it got destroyed, we learned nothing about his culture (Sonam and Togah don't count, they lived hundreds of years before Aang, their culture would have been pretty different) which is a shame. And then we get the new antagonists and they just become ridiculous goons? They had potential!! Why make Togah evil? Aang could have come to the final conclusion without Togah being evil I feel like and it would have been nice to see another good air bender that isn't dead. Also we're completely missing the point of "non-benders are not happy and there's discrimination rising" — sure, it leads to Korra's plot, but it's a miss imo.

I don't know, I have mixed feelings about it. Loved it for the visuals, music and nostalgia, the story was simplistic but overall fine — but it was missing sooooo much for it to be an actual good movie imo?

Like I said, waiting for the fanfics lol they're gonna be good! the edits already go hard lmao
