i am very excited that Jonathan Byers left Hawkins tk attend school at NYU and is shown to have friendships (even if they are long distance) at the end.

Him getting a happy ending was so important to me.

the finale proved that bylers have the best grasp on what is and what isn't good writing among all of stranger things fans. we clocked so many issues and plot holes, but were hopeful enough to think it will be explained by will and mike being a couple. and even though it was all bait and terrible writing all along, we can rest assured that we're the smartest bitches in this town

i'm very sorry if this is going to sound rude, but i can't believe any single one of you who has believed and spread around the leaks about vol2 cuts.

you have willingly given milevens and GA ammo to ridicule us and dismiss every valid point we've ever brought up. you have given validity to every time they've called us delusional, because this situation is nothing but mass delusion. there is no evidence. the supposed "reliable" leaker isn't even named and their track record wasn't presented. the "cut" plotlines make no sense with the rest of the season. it's based on nothing but old leaks and popular theories. it's just plain confirmation bias.

i get that vol2 was disappointing in so many ways, and we need to demand an explanation on why the quality has declined this much, but this is not the way to go. our point is as strong as our weakest argument, and the conspiracy theory about cuts falls apart the moment you think about it for more than a second.

It’s frustrating to see people/the writers/etc. act like the disappointment with Byler is a shipping thing. This isn’t about just wanting two boys to kiss. This is about Mike Wheeler, who has been sidelined all of season 5, lacking a real arc and meaningful personal journey. This is about his poor treatment of his friends in seasons 3 and 4 never being adequately explained or resolved. This is about his personal struggles remaining ambiguous and denying him the opportunity to process his feelings in the story in a meaningful way. This is about Will Byers, a character who never thought he would fall in love, learning that if he does, he’ll get over it. This is about a character who has spent the whole show having what he wants taken from him, willingly giving up the thing he wants most. This is about a character who was shown to fall in love slowly over the course of 4 years with his best friend, the person he is closest to and most similar to, only to decide it was just a crush.

This is not about wanting two boys to kiss. This is about writing two characters who care about each other more than anyone else, who feel most comfortable and themselves with each other, having it develop into something romantic, only for it to amount to self-acceptance on one side, and a relationship built on “love at first sight” and a lie on the other.

So stop saying it’s about shipping when it’s about the impact that this writing has on Mike’s character, Will’s character, and the story that was written. There is more to Mike and Will than Byler. But Byler heavily affects their characterization and arcs whether you like it or not.

I think this cut gate stuff is showing that bylers genuinely are a little delusional. not that our entire belief in byler endgame is/was delusional. the facts supported it. but we are easily prone to suggestibility and cultlike group thinking for sure. it’s less about one individual person randomly having delusions, and more so about widespread confirmation bias and consensus and collective analysis becoming The Truth

heavy on the confirmation bias. it’s not even bad that people are theorizing it, but it’s one thing to be like hey this might have happened, to oh this absolutely no doubt about it is the truth and we have to do something about it

okay but honestly i think the whole direction of s5 was lackluster to begin with it had so sooo much potential and my sister and i were just talking about how if they had a done an apocalyptic hawkins the season would have much better tension and the stakes would actually feel high. right now it just feel like they threw together some storyline so they could rush to the finale.

just imagine how intense it would feel if our main characters had to survive the real hawkins if it were actually turning into the upside down. imagine returning to our characters after a year and a half and theyre already beaten down having to survive that long in an apocalyptic hawkins. imagine trying to keep max alive while shes in a coma in some basement hiding from demogorgons and flesh monsters who are just always lurking above. imagine all the characters having to go source food and supplies while dreading the inevitable return of vecna. imagine the real hawkins with no sunshine. the lighting alone makes it feel so unserious tbh.

the tone would be much more in line with the first two seasons and it's honestly upsetting to see them drop the ball with it. like half the screen time has gone to these random kids + holly. its pretty much just a rehash of st4 and for some reason it's treated as a mystery? we already knew vecna wanted to merge the two worlds from the last season so all around it just feels very sloppy and rushed. i had some hope after vol 1 bc i figured we still had half the season left but looking at it as a whole its just .... not it. idk idk idk
