It's honestly kind of impressive how in mtg, after decades of trying to distance color identity and morality, and keep card text as descriptive as possible (like, nicol bolas isn't a villain, he's an "elder dragon", the card text is divorced from his story role), all it took was a marvel collab and now we're back to the beginning.
Like, they really went "uuuh yeah white is the hero color and black is the villain color", even though a fair number of heroes are AT LEAST orzhov and viceversa, like we're back in the 90s with cards literally named "crusade" or smth.
Plus the level of american propaganda and exceptionalism is disgusting, because there are like 5 cards with the word "patriot" in it (like come on, "captain america, wings of freedom"???), and the ussr equivalent is called "red guardian, super soldier", is a villain, and the art is him screaming at the viewer.
This shit is not subtle, and I am disgusted to see it in a game that was making honest strides in representation (with the issues that come with being a fantasy game made in the us).
