CW: Indication of sacrificial ritual, Satan
Dakan was the only child of a single father household during the Victorian era. His mother died when he was young due to illness, but thanks to his father's work in apothecary, they made a pretty decent living. This allowed the father-son duo to own a two-story, four bedroom house with an attic on the outskirts of the city where the apothecary shop sat. The shop, small in size, was solely run by his father which forced him to be away from home for at least 12 hours out of the day, not counting the 1 hour carriage ride to the city and back. Add in the 3 hour shift of sleep after work which would be interrupted by waking in the middle of the night to work on the ledger and have a meal before sleeping another 3 hours and that left Dakan with scarce time to see his father.
On days where Dakan had no school, he’d often beg his father to go with him into the city and help in the shop. Helping in the shop usually meant, “Don’t touch anything and sit behind the counter.” Though boring at times, the boy enjoyed spending time with his father. By the age of 13, Dakan started taking over counter duty. He’d watch over the shop when customers came in and give advice off the things he’d learned watching his father. He even picked up some books on apothecary from the city library so he could be of more use. At 15, he was helping customers get the products they needed and took a load off his father’s shoulders. With Dakan managing most of the basic shop operations, it allowed his father to work on keeping stock up, taking care of most, if not all, of the ledger during the day, and more.
During his last year of secondary school, Dakan focused on finishing his classes so that once he was 18, he could go into full-time work with his father in the shop. With a year of no second set of hands to help out, Dakan’s father was barely seen around the house. Dakan knew that once his classes were completed, he’d be able to see the man again. On the last day of class, Dakan went straight from the schoolhouse to the shop. But upon reaching the location, the shop was destroyed and his father was no where to be found. The 18 year old caught the earliest carriage ride home and prayed his father was there. But their house was destroyed and empty. too.
Panic set in, causing Dakan to rummage throughout the house in hopes he might find some form of hint as to what happened and where his father was. It was then that he noticed the ladder leading to the attic planted neatly on the floor. Dakan climbed up into the attic, but he didn’t make it all the way to the top before two pairs of hands grabbed either side of him and pulled him up. The boy struggled, but it did no good. Examining the top floor, he noticed a group of 5 people in cloaks. Two held him, two stood on the ends of a drawn symbol on the floor, and the last stood above Dakan’s father who was sitting on his knees in the center of the floor symbol.
“Father!” Dakan called out.
The figure about the father put his hand up to silence Dakan.
“Now that you are both here, the ritual can begin,” they spoke.
“What are you talking about?” Dakan questioned.
The figure didn’t answer. They motioned for Dakan to be brought closer. Once the boy was in front of his father, he was forced down onto his knees. This is when Dakan caught his father’s eyes.
“I love you, son,” Dakan’s father whispered.
“I love you, too,” Dakan answered, still confused as to the situation.
“In positions!” The presumed leader stated, making the four others to place themselves at each point drawn on the floor. “Today, we will grant this father and son to you, our dark Lord.”
Everything following that sentence happened so fast, Dakan could barely remember the events. He watched his father’s throat be slit, but not for long. A figure appeared in front of him, blocking the view from the young adult. Looking up, Dakan saw the figure looking back at him. It was a man who looked rather unpleased.
“We don’t have much time. If you want to live, I can offer you that pleasure. But you must sacrifice your humanity and become a demon. Otherwise, you will die where you sit.”
The man held out his hand to Dakan.
“I don’t understand-” Dakan began, but was cut off.
“All you need to do is ask yourself if you want to live. If yes, take my hand. If no, say so.”
The boy leaned around the man to look at his father, body still with blood pooled around him. Part of him wanted to join his father, to continue to be with the only parent he ever had, even if it meant being dead. However, Dakan knew what his father would truly want him to do. Live. Without hesitation, Dakan gripped the man’s hand. From that point on, Dakan grew a name for himself and became Satan/Diablo’s right-hand man.

As a young boy, Orphic loved the idea of adventure. His mother was what was referred to as a “Lady of the Night” and his father was a pirate. His father still took time to come back from his ventures on the sea to visit his family. However, one night, he came back with the news that he will no longer be able to continue seeing them. His mother gave his father one request: take Orphic with him. The boy’s mother knew Orphic wanted to experience the world and have some adventure. What better way then taking up the role as a pirate’s son?
Life on the ocean has its ups and downs, but there is no worse down than being framed for something you didn’t do and being forced off the ship by your own father. Orphic’s father and many crew mates began to notice an increase of enemy ships coming up and attempting to attack them. They were very good at keeping themselves hidden, but something had to be drawing these ships in. The traitor on the ship, who had been luring the others, decided to push the blame onto Orphic. The boy, now a teen, was blamed for everything as the real traitor placed incriminating evidence inside the boy’s small room.
Orphic was always a kid of few words. He never spoke unless he needed to or if it was with someone he truly trusted, like his father. He tried to reason with his father and tell him everything, but his father couldn’t overlook how obvious it seemed that the boy was at fault. Orphic’s father brought the boy before the entire crew and let them all say their own goodbye’s which usually involved punching or kicking the teen. The real traitor had a special treat for young Orphic.
“If the boy wants to keep his silence, let’s give him a reason to.”
The traitor grabbed the boy’s mouth, forced it open, and went to cut his tongue off. With Orphic struggling, only a small bit managed to be cut off, but this little bit would leave the boy with a permanent lisp. It was a few minutes later that Orphic’s father would throw his own son overboard to drown. His father soon learned the truth when the true traitor drew in a final ship that managed to successfully board and capture the crew. Orphic’s father died that same day.
The teen, thought to have been dead already, had washed up onto a small island where he used the survival skills he had to keep himself alive. On this island, he gained his loving pet snake who he named Imp. The teen grew to an adult by age when he was rescued by a soldier named Hena. At first, Hena didn’t even know he was there. Orphic never knew that he possessed a magic ability until he met Hena. Something inside him clicked and he soon found himself evaporating into a thin black mist, making himself invisible to the naked eye. Since he didn’t know how to use it, it eventually wore off, letting Hena meet the young adult face to face.
Hena was caring to him and wanting him to know she was not an enemy unless he wanted to make her one. Orphic was afraid to let Hena in, but soon enough, Orphic was boarding a small ship with Hena and a few members of her camp to go back to Ambergate. Hena helped Orphic learn to use his power which was titled Phantom. Phantom is a combination of Shadow and Death magic. How Orphic got this power, he couldn’t answer. Neither of his parents, nor either of his siblings had magic in their blood. Regardless, Orphic took pride in training to use Phantom properly and helping Hena on any mission she gave him. He gained the honor as Hena’s right-hand man years later for his determination and loyalty.
Currently, Orphic awaits Hena’s return with three young duel magic users she has saved from the clutches of the same family who stole her sister many years ago.
Lucian understands the want to protect and keep those he cares for safe. He’d know Lie’s feelings for his Host pretty well and would respect them greatly. Lucian, since he drinks vampire blood, wouldn’t be much of an issue to Lie’s host, which Lie would definitely appreciate.
Lie would find Lucian pretty nice to be around. They are both content and laid back generally, while also being very passionate and open about certain feelings. Lie would respect Lucian and what he’s doing for his kind.
The two both struggle with rights for their kind as well as being respected and left alone in their respected universes. They would most likely form an alliance and help each other out all the time.
Overall, I’d rate this friendship probability a 9/10.
Lie would find Trennos a little annoying. She’s very outgoing and has a big personality, while Lie is much more content and laid back. She could be a danger of exposing Lie and his Host.
However, Trennos would love them both to death. She would understand Lie and his morals more than Lie would expect. She’d be one of the first to help his Host if he was busy or elsewhere, though that doesn’t really happen.
Overall, I’d rate this possible friendship a 6/10.
