i’m still crying goodbye
Here she was, trying to figure out what was right—or the least wrong. If there was one lesson Mabel’s parents had drilled, it was this: Never stoop to violence. But how did you fight an enemy who never fought fair? Didn’t you have to break the rules to win against the Devil? Mabel’s head was spinning. They were trying to keep Jake Marlowe from hurting the workers. That was good, wasn’t it? They were destroying property. That was bad. Wasn’t it? If you did the wrong things for the right reasons, did that make the wrong things right? Or did that just mean you had turned your back on finding a more right way? And once you justified violence, did that make it easier the next time and the next, until you’d become the villain of your own story?

Six Months to Strawberry Time, Chapter 2: The Counsel of Spirits
In which Madge interacts with all the side characters you never knew you wanted to read about and Mejhiren alludes to all her favorite side-pairings while A Christmas Carol nods sneak in every now and again…
“I’m going to be Gale’s new hunting partner,” I answer at last. Not eagerly, nor with embarrassment or uncertainty, but I feel a great weight drop from my chest as the words leave my lips.
After all, this is the only person whose approval truly matters.
It’s belatedly occurred to me that I should have sought Prim’s permission before speaking to Gale, taking over Katniss’s role as I am, or maybe I should apologize for not having done so – but she only smiles at me once more, unbothered and utterly unsurprised. “Of course you are,” she says. “You’ve had the woods in your eyes for a while now. If Katniss hadn’t left with Peeta, she could have taken you out herself,” she observes. “The pair of you could have hunted and foraged together, and never mind Gale Hawthorne.“
“There’s a lovely thought,” I chuckle dryly. “And really, I may not even pass muster. I’m going out with him on Sunday – on trial, I think. It may not last any longer than that.”
Prim gives a short, strange laugh. “He’ll never give you up,” she assures me.
“Is he that desperate?” I wonder, nonplussed.
She hesitates a moment. “Not in the way you think,” she replies. “But yes, I think he is. Just…maybe you should tell him,” she suggests, “before things get too far along.”
I shake my head, now thoroughly confused. “Tell him what?” I ask.
“That you’re in love with him,” she says plainly. “It would be nice to have someone be open about it for a change.”
Chapter is posted on FF.net and AO3 (which now has a proper “series” for my WtMiverse fics). Also, shout-out to @prisspanem (you precious creature, whom I haven’t spoken to in unforgivable ages!), who was the direct inspiration for Mrs. Undersee’s term of endearment for her daughter. ❤
ok but normalise going to coffee shops alone, eating dinner alone, going to the cinema alone. i’m okay & i’m not particularly sad or lonely. i feel bad that you’re feeling bad because i just happened to enjoy the company of myself today.
hey friends!!
as you can tell, i am not super active around here anymore. life is taking me places, and i am Doing Things. so that leaves less time (and, frankly, less interest) for fandom.
however: i wanted to share my new ‘blog’ of sorts with you. this is not fanfiction; it’s more of a personal place, but i’m feeling pretty fired up about writing these days and, interestingly and strangely, wanting to share it. so you can find me at miserella, if you are into that sort of thing.
i also want to let you know you can find me on instagram under the same name (miserella). hope to see you around!

Rents will range from $375 to $2000 and will be geared toward seniors and families
The City of Vancouver is adding 400 affordable new homes worth $50 million to its rental stock over the next two years.
They will be the first affordable housing units to be built under the city of Vancouver’s Affordable Housing Agency (VAHA).
Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson made the announcement today at 2221 Main Street — a site that’s currently a parking lot but is one of the proposed properties on which it wants to build 130 rental units for families.
“We’re making sure these four sites address a number of different people and demographics who are struggling to find housing in the Vancouver market,” said Roberston.
The move comes as the city’s vacancy rate hovers at 0.6 per cent — one of the lowest in the country.
Chief housing officer Mukhtar Latif says rents will range from as low as $375 in the Downtown Eastside, to as high as $2,000 in one of the family-oriented units

I cannot believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be compassionate. It is, above all, to matter and to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all.
