people dont even understand the whole nine becoming ten for rose thing. people always wanna argue that rose isn't more attracted to ten as if that means she didn't find nine hot or that she didn't love him That Way. but it's not that simple.

here's what the deal is. THE FACTS ARE! 🗣️🫸

in father's day rose denies the doctor is her boyfriend multiple times. in the doctor dances the doctor feels dejected by rose's attraction to jack and the lack of attention he gets from her that way. he also is jealous of mickey and adam the entire time. nine is attracted to rose since he met her, but canonically since the unquiet dead. this is like, a long stretch of time lol i think UNTIL rose becomes the bad wolf, he does not think rose has romantic/sexual feelings for him. she DID but i don't think he was aware of it until he has actually started the process of dying.

CANONICALLY what the doctor feels/thinks during regeneration affects their next body and personality. as nine is about to regenerate he is talking about what his next body will look like to rose "i might have two heads, or no head. imagine me with no head! and don't say that's an improvement." like. he's being self deprecating here but underneath it we can sense that he hopes his next body is something that will please her. he wants to be what he thinks she wants.

and he loves her.

SO HE'S RIGHT.

at first rose is so afraid of the regeneration that she doesn't even pay attention to what he looks like, born again she literally asks him to change back. but not because she likes ten less, she just saw the man she loves explode into light and then get replaced! like what! she's not THINKING ABOUT THAT lmfao

and when she finally does sort of accept that the doctor is still the doctor, she thinks because he changed he wont want her anymore. and we can delve a lot into some internalized issues rose may have here. abandonment, classism, etc all are part of why she reacts the way she does! she thinks it's negative.

but when she finally really does understand then she accepts him and loves him like nothing happened! because nothing did! he's still the same man! but oh NO he's EXACTLY her type now. he's younger, he's flirty, he's HAPPY AND FREE at first! he's OOZING with love for her, for humanity. he spends christmas with her family! he's the same but he's absorbed so much of what he knows she wanted while he was falling in love with her as nine that ten is entirely shaped around it. you can't seperate ten from nine just like you can't seperate ten from rose tyler. it's not about who loves who more, it's about it being one circular story.

thinking about taggie o’hara feeling so lonely and upset because she’s spent her whole life taking care of others and never seeing an ounce of reciprocation and although she loves it loves seeing how people light up when she does things for them just once she’d like to be the one being lit up. and her family loves her they do but she’s still just a supporter in their lives instead of an equal (besides maybe caitlin but that’s how sisters are don’t fight me we transcend family trauma) she’s left picking up all of the work while her mother complains and gossips and critiques and her dad is so busy with work and assigning jobs for her to do while he’s gone that he can’t notice anything troubling her unless another man points it out to him. and then here comes this piece of shit wonderful man who sees straight through her and can see that all she really wants is to be taken care of and more importantly, to relax. he lets her breathe and be herself and release control of things around her and i’m just expected to be okay with that? blasphemy.

Watching Rivals and I can feel myself coming apart at the seams. This badly behaved man meets the most eldest daughter and listens to her? He changes his behavior when she tells him off?
