You sit alone on your apartment balcony, lost in thought. Below you, the city streets are still alive. Even this late at night, people are busy going about their lives.
You watch them in silence, dragging on your third cigarette in barely half an hour since you sat down out here.
Those people… why do their worlds feel so full? How do they get the things they want? They have jobs, friends, lovers.
You’re a writer, someone deeply fascinated by biology and anatomy. But the stories you upload online never get the attention you think they deserve.
People don’t like reading much anymore. The novels that sell are mostly about rich CEOs and poor women, werewolf romance, vampire romance or shallow romance dramas that rely on nothing but cheap sensuality.
And here you are now. Daydreaming alone on the balcony, reaching for your fourth cigarette.
You feel sick of it. Hopeless. Something feels wrong with the way the world works now. It isn’t like it used to be, back when a ball and rainwater were enough to keep you happy.
“Maybe I really should sell a kidney and get rich.”
But in the end, you found something else entirely. A place that would bring a massive change to your life. A place of escape. A place where you would cease to be human…
