I'm sad because I don't feel pleasure for anything that used to make me happy anymore. I'm about to get my masters and defend my thesis, but I feel like it is going to be just another thursday.

I used to plan so much for after that. How I would pursue my phd and everything, but now it just doesn't make sense anymore.

And now I feel like I took all the wrong turns in life and don't know what to do.

Its so wild to me that so many young people nowadays think fanfic is something that only kids and teens do.

Back when I first got into online fanfic communities as a young teen, the majority of the fanfic communities were as they are now - adults. Minors were the minority (no pun intended). Minors who admitted to being minors were even more of a minority, because we knew damn well that if we wanted our smut - or wanted others to read our smut - then we had to make the adults think that we were One Of Them.

And having those cross-generational friendships was fantastic! I didn’t have much opportunity in my real life to have social interaction with adults who weren’t either family or friends of family, and being able to interact online with adults as ‘peers’ was really good for me. It gave me a much more varied view of things, and also gave me a fantastic community of people with more life experience than me whom I could turn to for advice.

And I know that, just like me, all those people are still reading and writing fic 25+ years later. And those who have sadly passed on were reading and writing fic right up until their deaths.

It’s not unusual to be reading/writing fanfic in your twenties - or in your thirties, forties, fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties, etc.

You’re never too old for fandom, no matter what anyone else says.

Kimchay Rec List - Canon Era

Over Twitter, the user Leehanzices asked me for a Kimchay rec list, unfortunately I couldn’t answer them cause Twitter got blocked in my country! But here it is and I’ll try to contact them so they can enjoy it ♥

Idolistic Kim has control issues, and likes to seed his fandom with misinformation. Chay is a bnf with an unerring ability to spot the lies. This is a meet cute.

dancing with our hands tied It’s not late enough that the road is abandoned. There are people around, but they’re further out, outlines and vague shouts that Chay glances towards cautiously as he tugs the gauzy top he’s wearing higher up his neck.

He feels exposed. He is exposed, really; when he’d gotten changed to come out he hadn’t so much been thinking about the journey home as he had been consumed by the idea of getting out of his head.
