My favorite professor, shout out Glenn, would interrupt students who were saying "Well XYZ clearly felt--" and go "No, backtrack, scratch that. They are a character. Not a person. They don't have any thoughts other than what the writer clearly specifies on paper they have. Don't give agency to nonliving things, they are not real, they never were real, and it is dangerous to lose that line."

He was a sweet man and raised in the Midwest so interrupting people hurt his very soul, that's how dangerous he felt the idea of losing the line of fiction was.

He notably also taught a course called Bible in Lit which I took and those lines came back a lot.

Kind of pissed that the housing person I spoke to who from minute one had an irritated tone, then went from giving me $200 a week motel options that don’t allow pets and I can’t afford to reminding me multiple times that she had to give out sleeping bags and tents to people. Lady, I’m literally moving into a fucking tent. I’m kind of one of the people you’re trying to use to remind me that ‘some people have it worse’. I wasn’t sticking my nose up at the motel, I just can’t afford it and I don’t even have time to find someone I trust to take my cats that quickly. Also, of fucking course some people have it worse, and I’ve been constantly active in trying to help where and when I can. I don’t need repeated reminding like I’m a fucking billionaire CEO causing this problem.

Ok so. Depending on how today goes, I’m putting out a call for help. It’s in limbo right now, but I’d rather have something secured and not need it than be scrambling more than I already am.

Does anyone in Maine follow me here and is able to take in and love two kitties? I don’t know where to ask that isn’t shady facebook groups, and I’d really like to avoid bringing them to a shelter due to their age/shelter trauma.

One of them is 13 years old beautiful girl with retirement age medical needs. (asthma, arthritis, and she needs a little help pooping. All managed pretty well with current meds.) The other is a lovely 3 year old super affectionate boy who came from a traumatic shelter experience. (He is a meow-er once he’s comfortable, and my god is he snuggly) I don’t want to give them up at all, but I don’t think I can live in a tent with them and risk them getting out. They’re not outdoor cats, and are super scared of traveling.

I can give more info about Noodle’s med and health needs if this is something you’d be interested in. I have a stock of meds and food and treats and perches and a water fountain and toys etc. and I would send them along with some money for their care as well. I can drive to bring them to you, but I’d want to do a quick Get To Know You process first if that’s ok.

I just want them to be as safe and happy as possible. And it’s looking like that means a life with someone else.
