What I would do differently
Okay so my year in Disney was absolutely amazing- I wouldn’t really change anything because I was doing exactly what I wanted in that moment but if I’m ever given the opportunity to go again this is what I would do differently
-get into sevice a whole lot faster
I did months on podium and 7 in service (aka hostess and waitress) and god damn I had no idea how much money servers can make there?! I literally could have paid off my student loans and then some if I didn’t wait so long
-Not spent so much money on drinking
Now that my program is over I see my snap chat memories and realize I was a full blown alcoholic for a year LOL I went out 3-5 nights a week, I gained a lot of weight from it and really I could have enjoyed myself just as much without drinking as much, did I really need to slam 7 beers in 1 hour just because it was free? No.
- Go to parks more
Okay everyone says this after the program, I went to the parks A LOT (and universal even more) it’s just hard because when you work 12pm-11pm i can’t go to the parks because they’re closed but I can hangout with my girls at happy Monday’s- this was my downfall. I’m a social person so I love to be with people so when you work park open to close and everyone goes out after it’s hard to say no. Still on my days off if I just woke up earlier I could have enjoyed them more
-Make more international friends
Canadians are obsessed with each other (anyone else remember when mono broke out amongst the pav? Because I do)
-Check our resorts more
Truly didn’t give a shit about this when I was on my program but now while I constantly search hashtags I’m like, I should have gave a shit
-see more of Orlando
There’s SO much to do in Disney I didn’t see much of Orlando like the place that has the Orlando eye and stuff
-NEVER And I repeat NEVER CALL OUT FOR 3 DAYS TO GO ON A CRUISE
If other people call out for a vacation and you don’t think they got in trouble - they probably did and you just didn’t hear about it- not even then.
If people call out to go to a hockey game -not even then
If you know a server that LITERALLY is considered a “wild card” because they call out so often it’s a wild card chance they’ll show up to work- NOT. EVEN. THEN.
Literally the biggest mistake of my program. I called out next to never, not when my dad almost died, not when my 5 year old niece was hospitalized, not when I saw a man get hit by a car and thinking that people won’t be mad because you’re a good employee the other 99% of the time - not. Even. Then.
