How I like to set up my princess room at night (for the perfect girlblogging space) according to the 5 senses: ˚✧⁎⁺
- my bed is fresh, made, and cozy! Even if I haven’t made it all day, I still like to make it before my wind-down routine (washing my face, brushing my teeth, etc) so I feel like I am entering a put together- and thus relaxed- space. I also like to surround my pillow with stuffed animals and other pillows to snuggle into 🧸
- lighting! Lighting is key to helping me wind down and create the perfect, cozy space. I like to use my most dim lamp that gives off a creamy, coral glow, to help relax my mind and body. Sometimes, I will pair this with my fairy lights for a much more magical feel 😌
- calming fragrances! Smell is SUCH a big sense that can really help dictate how you feel. I like to use my essential oil diffuser to really calm my senses, and to pavlov myself into feeling restful every time I get a waft of lavender or eucalyptus.
- I may also opt for a candle or incense stick- so long as they are both soft sense. These can sometimes also double as a timer. For example, i’ll read until the incense goes out :)
- upon making my bed I also like to use fabric/pillow spray, so that when I should enter it, I feel extra fresh and relaxed🪻
- tea, of course! While this isn’t confined to just my room, I like making sure that I am accompanied by both some fresh water, and a cup of tea. My teas of choice for bed are either green tea, camomile, a “sleepy time” blend, or even just some hot lemon water for nights I feel like I need a detox. This helps make me feel relaxed inside and out. 🍵
- anything gentle! By this time, the house is quite quiet, which allows me to add a sense of white noise. Some days I like just the sound that my diffuser makes in the background, and other nights i’ll play some music. My music of choice for bed are soft classical pieces, soft-old-jazz pieces, or even gentle old french songs.
- I may also put on an asmr video (in replace of music)🪐
