The Ocean, The Eye, and The Gnome who Knew.
The early sea air was crisp and salty upon the skin of Sprankles’ face. Her eyes were closed and she lay flat atop the back of some large whale or another, just easily drifting along. It had carried her under the water a few times, but for the moment, it simply floated and so did she.
Ding! Ding! Ding! Hoooooooooooooonk~!
That was the sound of a ship! Slowly, and with much nonchalance, her eyes opened behind her cracked goggles and she was on her feet on the back of the whale, even as it sprayed up water in a shower over top her, the oceanic beast taking a breath.
The ship she saw wasn’t very large, but it was large enough for a gnome to stow-a-way on. One of her hands patted her front pocket on her pack, making sure the contents of it were still there, and they were. She stood there, then, simply waiting. The boat drew closer and closer. She knelt down and gave the whale a pat on the back. “Thank you for your hospitality, Missus Whalefin. It was quite delightful.” she said in all seriousness. She rose upright once more, giving a salute to the air before she torpedoed off the back of the whale on a stream of Chi.
Her hands grappled some rope that hung from the side of the ship, leading up to a lifeboat. It had a few food rations and water skins on board as to which she wasted no time in diving into. She hadn’t eaten in around three days, having sailed away without anyone knowing with the Admiral Valesong. She knew Cendelorn was going to be furious at first. But, he would understand when she gave him what she needed to. It was… so very shiny though, and Sprankles truly loved shiny things. It would be -greatly- hard to part with it. Perhaps.. she would hold it just a tad longer after she got back home. She couldn’t see what harm it would do.
Three of her four fingers sifted through that pouch on the front of her pack and pulled out what she so swore to protect and deliver to the Night Elf who she thought of as a brother. She found it then, pulling it out. Her eyes only widened and she grinned broadly. It was a gemstone made mostly of onyx with a bright ruby center. It was the Admiral’s eye. She had entrusted it to Sprankles upon the promise that Sprankles would indeed get it to Cendelorn should anything happen to them abroad upon the ocean. Well, something happened and here she was. She watched the Admiral’s ship sink to the blows the Stormwind Navy dealt it, though something in her gut told her that A’reena had made it out alive. She just had that feeling. Though.. she would tell Cendelorn the news. It was her duty.
As she stared at the eye she sighed, thankful for the adventure. Though, she couldn’t help but wonder what her beloved Manny was doing in her absence. And she couldn’t for the life of her remember if she told him she was going anywhere….
