I've had this blog since the early '00s. I want to make it clear that some....no, A LOT of the fucked up shit I've said, I no longer believe. However, due to me not tagging shit, it's a bitch to hunt them all down and delete. Once you bring it to my attention, the fucker will be deleted and an apology posted. Because when I have done wrong, I should be held accountable and responsible. I've hurt people due to past things I refused to look at. I've been and will continue to make the effort to not harm people with my words and actions. That being said. I do some fucked up shit, hold me accountable and call me out.

I really hate when people claim obesity isn't an epidemic or an issue at all.

Fatphobia is a legitimate problem and BMI is inherently flawed.

That doesn't mean obesity doesn't exist and is some arbitrary concept.

Bad eating/exercise/health habits that lead to obesity are a very real danger.

That doesn't mean skinny people are inherently healthy. Plenty are not.

But I'm growing very tired of people saying no efforts should be made to improve health/lose weight because skinny people can be unhealthy too.

There are legitimately fat activists out there who say you should eat whatever you want whenever you want wherever you want and however much you want.

This is disastrously unhealthy.

Just... It's really sad that people opt against healthy choices because of "activists" like this.

There are jerks out there who insult people for being fat. These people are awful.

But them being awful doesn't mean their stance on obesity being unhealthy is wrong. Them treating people poorly IS wrong, however.

Try to be as healthy as you're able.

I think a lot of people in the replies on this post need to do some hard thinking. It is absolutely important to try to be as healthy as you are able. You should want to live a long, healthy, happy life.

Throwing that away because activists on tumblr/tiktok/insta might think you're fatphobic for losing weight or exercising is absurd.

Also if you treat Aubrey Gordon's words like your bible you need to understand that she is actually not very smart and that you should listen to your doctor about health advice rather than a podcast host

This post came across my dash and I was digging through the comments and so many of them were ..... wild. The concept that it is not a good thing to promote health is wild. Perhaps public health should not be engaged in. Addressing obesity is part of public health. There are people who are dedicated to addressing the issue of obesity. It is such a problem in 2026 because of issues like an obesogenic environment and access to UPFs.

It is reasonable to care about the health of your fellow humans. If not, then no one should wash their hands, cover their mouths when they cough, or get vaccinated. If health, to the best of your ability, is unimportant, public health, as a concept, does not matter.

But public health does, and should continue to, matter. And that starts with people caring about each other.

briefly pursuing a career in animation radicalized me on this. So many stories from the industry about how you have to start with your character design as dark as possible, because INEVITABLY you'll get "notes" from higher-ups asking you to make them lighter.

In a class about making a pitch bible my teacher once role-played as a shitty executive with a classmate, pressing them in intentionally abrasive ways about why they made their characters diverse. He emphasized that we had to learn to defend these things, because the racism in the industry is extremely deliberate.

Since placing app and website blockers onto my phone and computer, I'm finding myself anxious. I feel as if I should be doing something since I can't go on those sites. It's weird and kind of scary. Because I tried reading, (a pastime I loved as a kid to teenager )and now find myself unable to start.
