(comment on a matt walsh video where he asks passerby to define woman, and one man responds that he can’t define woman because he isn’t one, and matt walsh says that you don’t have to be a cat to define what a cat is.)
women exist, we are real, measurable, tangible. we aren’t a social construct. we have social constructs imposed upon us because our female sex, but we ourselves are very real.
this is like saying that black people are not real because african american culture is a social construct. or that christian’s aren’t real because religion is a social construct. or that teachers aren’t real because jobs are a social construct. spoiler alert: a lot of things are social constructs! but human people are real!! and there are 2 sexes!! women are one of those 2 sexes! we have stereotypes and expectations and social constructs imposed upon us, but even in a perfect egalitarian feminist world with all social constructs lifted, we would still be real!! WOMEN EXIST!!!!
this is so insulting. to be like oh well cats are real because they can be defined by their physicality, that’s how we know that they are cats and not hippos or zebras. because they have certain physical characteristics. but women? no we have no way to know who is a woman, and in fact no way to define it! that’s just a social construct that can be voluntarily slipped in and out of and taken off by adopting and abandoning certain accessories and mannerisms at whim!
looking at your phone is always one of these two experiences

my senior english teacher told me that any scene with a woman in a cornfield in every piece of literature ever is about her journey to womanhood/pleasuring herself in the field and i just.... believed her

ultimately the truth about frankenstein is that we are all grotesque amalgamations of the best and worst parts of everyone who came before us. and sometimes the people who are supposed to love us because of and in spite of this will not. and we can kill them with hammers for that. and i think that’s beautiful
read a poem on here years ago and the line that has stuck with me for ages is "when i look into the mirror i do not see myself, but all of you who made me." and it hits every time because it's so apt
