I just can’t stop thinking about how Lucy Gray died because of sunrise on the reaping. Now, here me out. We kind of assumed that Lucy gray died from the wound Snow inflicted on her. But I think that may not be the case. I think she somehow survived and continued to live with the Coveys after Snow went back to the Capitol, but maybe in secret. Then, someone on snow’s pocket may have seen her and alerted Snow that she was alive and he somehow poisoned her. Idk if with flowers, food whatever. But I think that it was just like Lenore’s Dove death. Because when she days Clerk Carmine says “not again”. And I think Snow killed Lenore like that to really hurt the Coveys. He didn’t like that Lucy Grays ideias and songs were still remembered by the rest of district 12 even if she wasn’t - and he learned that a lot when Maysille mentioned her song. And I think that’s why we don’t hear of the Coveys anymore. They were sent into hiding in order to be safe. That’s why even though we learn that Clerck Carmine is still alive in Mockingjay Katniss never mentions Coveys and Grays. That’s why Katniss father teaches her how to sing but Katniss says (if I’m not mistaken) that singing is like frowned upon on district 12. That’s why Katniss never talks about the rest of her family - she probably didn’t know them. And by this I mean that between the coveys, the grays, and the Everdeen there would have been a lot of cousins and Katniss never mentions them. Ofc I know she is not that trust worthy as a narrator but still. The whole district 12 was so much warmer, and the coveys helped each other out - I mean, Lenore was taken in by her uncles after her mother died. It just feels strange to me that none of them would have tried to help Katniss after her dad died. Maybe they were scared about how he died - that whole theory that his accident wasn’t really an accident. Also, why does nobody else know about the lake where the coveys used to go?! The whole family knew, how was Katniss the only one visiting it? Also, not really relevante here, but I love the theory that Everdeen was once evergreen but they changed it after whatever happened to Lucy gray in order to distance themselves from the coveys. Was maybe this what the other did as well?
