The rectangle of a sunny day at the end of the corridor leading out of the prison building feels like the light at the end of the tunnel to Tang Yi. Finally free.

When he steps outside, he has to shut his eyes for a moment, the daylight is so bright it stings. He stops there, and lifting his face up to the sky, he breathes in deeply. Finally free.

Then, as he lets go of the anxiety that’s been sitting at the base of his throat for months on end and opens his eyes, he sees… him. Shao Fei with the brightest of smiles and the warmest of arms.

And then it truly sinks in: he’s finally free.

As i was getting ready to go clubbing myself, I couldn’t help thinking about AePete at a club and laughing. They don’t seem like the type to go, but do you have any clubbing hcs anyway. Like maybe they get roped into going for Pond’s bday or something.

I actually had a conversation about what Ae and Pete would be like high, and I can’t imagine them in that kind of setting either. If they were clubbing/drunk/high it would either be by accident or because they were tricked into it.

Ae is a complete control freak so he hates clubbing. He sneaks into a club one time in high school, and that’s only to drag Sun’s ass home, and it’s awful. There are too many people everywhere that Ae can’t keep track of and it’s so loud and he can barely hear himself think.

He’s also pretty conservative so seeing people drunk and acting like fools puts him off.

Pete has never clubbed before and he has mixed feelings about it. Obviously he wants to try because it’s one thing that he never thought he’d get to do as a gay kid with no friends, but it also scares him. Pete can barely handle interacting with Ae’s small group of friends so being in a crowd seems overwhelming.

They end up getting roped it into for Pond’s 21st birthday. He wants to have a boys only night at a club in Downtown Bangkok and Ae immediately says no. Mostly because he doesn’t want to but also because he doesn’t want Pete in that kind of place. It makes his hackles rise to think about Pete being around a bunch of drunk men.

Pete wants to go but not enough to argue with Ae so he stays quiet until Pond mentions that Chaaim won’t let him have the party if they aren’t there. Pete asks why and Pond says it’s because she trusts them more than his other friends. And more than Pond apparently.

Pete feels bad for Pond and tells Ae they should go because it wouldn’t be fair to ruin Pond’s birthday. Ae is skeptical but he can’t say no with Pete looking at him so worriedly, soft fingers tugging on his sleeve.

Ae tries not to be too overbearing but he can’t stop himself from telling Pete to stay with him all night and to not drink anything unless Ae or the bartender made it. Pete isn’t annoyed because it just shows how much Ae loves him, so he just nods obediently, pressed to Ae’s side.

Ae keeps a hand on Pete’s waist all night, so firm it’s a little uncomfortable, but Pete understands why because the club is so crowded. He ends up clinging to Ae just so he doesn’t lose him.

Despite Ae being the one who told Pete to stay with him but it becomes harder than Pete thought it would because Ae knows everyone while Pete only knows Pond.

Ae’s the one who actually gets shuffled around all night and Pete finds it awkward, holding on to Ae’s arm and not saying much because he doesn’t know anyone. Besides that, it’s way too loud and it seems like everyone is drunk and having a good time except Pete.

While Ae is talking to some guys, Pete slips away to buy a drink at the bar. He fails miserably because he doesn’t know what anything is so he just ends up standing there awkwardly.

A stranger comes up behind Pete and orders a drink for himself, and one for Pete. It takes Pete a moment to realize the drink is for him and he quickly thanks the guy before taking the drink. Pete immediately starts looking in his pockets for money to pay the man for helping him.

Before he can even find his money or drink the drink, Ae appears and tells the guy that Pete doesn’t need it.

Pete isn’t able to get a word in before Ae is dragging him through the club, back to the booth that Pond ordered for the night. It’s empty now because all the guys are dancing or by the bar, and that’s how Ae wants it.

Pete stands there awkwardly when Ae gets into the booth first, blocking his path. He understands why when Ae pats his lap. Pete can’t hear him but he knows what that means.

Pete tells Ae that they’re in public but Ae pulls him on to his knee before he can protest any more.

Ae pulls Pete in by the waist so he can speak directly in his ear because it’s so loud, and he asks Pete to tell him what Ae told him before they got there.

Pete squirms because Ae sounds angry, but he says that he wasn’t supposed to leave Ae’s side or drink anything if Ae or the bartender didn’t get it.

Ae tells Pete he didn’t listen so he’s going to punish him when they get home. Pete asks Ae why they can’t just go now, and Ae says it’s because he wants to make sure everyone in this club knows that Pete belongs to him. He isn’t allowed to leave Ae’s lap for the rest of the night.

Pete is fine with this because it means he has Ae’s undivided attention and he doesn’t have to awkwardly mingle with people he doesn’t know.

They don’t end up drinking at all. They spend the rest of the night hidden in the back of the club, trading kisses. If they’re a little dirtier than Ae would usually allow in public, the darkness of the club is forgiving.

Pond isn’t as forgiving when he finds them making out in the booth he bought for his birthday.

Shao Fei smiles, and Tang Yi resists the urge to snarl because he wasn’t smiling at him. And that was not acceptable.

The girl - that same girl he’d seen dancing with Shao Fei in fucking couple shirts in Andy’s club - was casting him sly looks from the corner of her eye. As if trying to say, look, see? I’m a threat to you. I’ll do my best to change his mind about you.

And Shao Fei, the absolute oblivious idiot he is, is nodding along and agreeing with what every drivel she is spouting into his ridiculously shaped ears. 

Tang Yi hates it.

He purses his lips, narrowing his gaze at where the two are huddled together. He’s forgotten why he was even needed in this meeting in the first place. Fuck it, Tang Yi decides. He’s not going to sit here and watch a brat try to flirt with his boyfriend when he has better things to do. Draining his tea, he stands, straightening his jacket and making to leave.

“You’re leaving?” Shao Fei says, wide-eyed and curious. 

“I know when I am not needed,” He replies. Shao Fei blinks, frowning. Tang Yi buttons his jacket. He wants to say something like, I’ll see you at home, or at least, I’ll see you later. Just so that he can hear Shao Fei say, I’ll see you too. 

Instead, what he gets is his brilliant, his wonderfully darling boyfriend closes the distance between them in long limbed strides, and reaches up to cradle Tang Yi by the cheeks, tugging him down for a heated, possessively dark kiss. 

Shao Fei licks in past his lips, and Tang Yi lets him. Licking in, swallowing down the happy hum that promises trouble if they don’t part soon. So they do. He catches the amused glint in Shao Fei’s eyes, and Tang Yi smiles. 

“We’re done here, right?” Shao Fei arches back to address the girl. Tang Yi’s buoyant mood sours a little when he remembers that she is still here.

“Yes,” She grits out reluctantly. Shao Fei wraps an arm around Tang Yi’s waist and he reciprocates with his own around Shao Fei’s. He can’t help the smug and triumphant grin that blooms on his face. 

He tilts his chin, levelling his most contemptuous glare at her as they walk out of the room in step with each other. See? He says with his glee. You can try, but you won’t succeed.

(Shao Fei passes a box of Krispy Kreme’s to Zhao Zi, smirking at Jack’s bewildered shake of his head. “Thanks for the assist,” Shao Fei says. “It worked like a charm.”

“If the boss finds out that you essentially engineered his jealousy–”

“He’s not going to hear it from me,” Shao Fei narrows his eyes.

“Nor me,” Jack holds his hands up. Simultaneously, they both look over at Zhao Zi, before meeting each other’s gaze in understanding.)

Novel: Epilogue (Part 1)

This isn’t in the epilogue but someone else highlighted some points, the most important being that: TANG YI FELL IN LOVE WITH SHAO FEI FIRST

I’m doing plot points, no direct translation sentence by sentence because I literally don’t have the book with me:

It starts off with “N number of years later, in Shi Hai Corporation” - so no, we don’t know how long TY went to prison for, and what he went in for, not from this chapter anyway unless they mention it in the chapters before

He’s described as ‘The Suit’ in this page, but we all know it’s TY - anyway he’s obviously OUT OF PRISON THANK GOD and he’s the CEO of the company now, talking to his secretary

His phone rings, and when he picks it up, IT’S JACK: “Hi ex-boss, just wanted to let you know that Captain Meng has been injured, and he’s been sent to Dr Jiang’s clinic”

LITTLE TREASURES FROM JUST THIS LINE:

SHAO FEI IS NOW CAPTAIN OF THE TEAM!!!!! OF TEAM 3!!!!! OMGGGG

Jack is an informant for TY now, as he is on SF-injury watch (it’s not clear whether he gets this info from ZZ or he’s working in the department or he was on the same case)

And obviously Jack and TY still have a pretty good frenemy kind of relationship, and Jack is a little shit

TY leaves in the middle of a meeting to obviously go see SF and some people in the office are like: “Should we call CEO Zuo to come back and take over some of the work?”

AND HERE WE KNOW THAT: Hong Ye and Dao Yi have been married THREE FRICKIN YEARS!!! AND SHE’S PREGNANT WITH THE FIRST KID, AND THAT’S WHY SHE’S NOT WORKING CURRENTLY IN THE COMPANY - and that’s why TY is taking over all business matters

Everyone is scared of TY it’s hilarious, and he hired most of his brothers from the gang or at least his staff/secretary know that he’s a former mob boss, and he still can command his gang members - one of the secretaries i think gives instructions after TY leaves: “Go get some people to guard outside of Dr Jiang’s clinic, make sure nothing happens to Officer Meng or Boss” - OMGGGGG SHAO FEI HAS TURNED INTO MOB BOSS WIFE I LOVE IT!!! HE’S IN THE CIRCLE OF PROTECTION NOW

Dr Jiang is cursing Shao Fei out back at the hospital: “Meng Shao Fei do you think I have nothing to do all day? Didn’t I warn you to not rush head first into a critical situation by yourself? I have two surgeries today, and in the end? I’m actually here having to just wrap your wound. You know the nurses can do this right? But no, because SOMEONE ordered me to, I keep having to come to you and practice my first year med school skill of wrapping up wounds.”

Shao Fei goes: “Hehe. Thanks!”

TREASURES AGAIN:

DR JIANG IS A NAGGY LITTLE BITCH THAT’S FRIENDS WITH SHAO FEI I LOVE IT

SF was careless with a perp, and he was just about explaining that, when DRAMATIC!ASS!TANG YI picks up a pen from his fucking pocket, opens it, and then LITERALLY USES IT TO SCRATCH HARD DOWN his own arm, the exact spot that SF got hurt (Note: Pls DO NOT IMITATE. DANGEROUS, ALSO A BIT DUMB, LIKE NO. GUYS THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR)

SF: “What are you doing?!” and grabs TY and I think he’s bleeding, and SF panics and is about to call Dr Jiang back but TY stops him and SF is all: “What the fuck, let me go, let me call Dr Jiang-”

TY kisses SF to calm him down, and when SF really does calm down, SF still grabs tissues to pat all over the wound 

TY: “Meng Shao Fei, since you’re not protecting yourself well and you keep making me worry, then every time you get hurt, I will hurt myself at the same spot. If you don’t want me to hurt myself, then please take more care of yourself. Because now your body is not yours alone, it’s like it’s my body too, and we belong to each other.” (Note: Once again, idk in which fucking situation this is permissible, safe and consensual guys, and communication, PLEASE DO NOT IMITATE FOR FUN)

SF apologises profusely to TY and then they HUG EACH OTHER TIGHTLY FARKKKKK 

TY: “We’re finally together after so much hardship, I really don’t want to lose you.”

SF: “I know…”

TY: “So tonight, forget about sleeping.” (Note: !!!!!?!!!?!???!!)

And then TY leaves SF there to go back to his meeting but not without kissing SF on the forehead, and then outside Dr Jiang is waiting, and he comments: “You’re so sly”

TY to Dr Jiang: “It takes one to know one. At least I didn’t try to win him over like you did, making Xiao Shu Gong pity you and con him over to be with you” !!!!! (HAPPY FOR DR JIANG!)

Dr Jiang: “TY, are you happy now?”

TY: “Very.”

Dr Jiang: “That’s good”

And then the last page I got was Jack standing at the roadside with Zhao Zi, keeping his phone after informing TY that SF was hurt - So they’re together, but idk why HAHAHAHA
