It’s really unfortunate that the US is not a signature to the ICC and its arrest warrant against Netanyahu. Mamdani is right to want someone behind bars who has committed the crimes against humanity that Netanyahu has in Gaza. We should all want that.

I see a lot of points made online that people should be consistent in how they treat Israel compared to other countries that have committed atrocities. I agree, but that goes both ways — Israel’s leader doesn’t get a pass on things that have (rightfully) put the leaders of other countries in front of the ICC’s courtroom. And it doesn’t contradict holiday well wishes to Jewish New Yorkers to support that.
