things from sappho to call your girlfriend
ἀστέρων πάντων ὀ κάλλιστος (of all the stars, the fairest)
πόλυ πάκτιδος ἀδυμελεστέρα, χρύσω χρυσοτέρα (far sweeter-sounding than the lyre, far more golden than gold)
τὰν ἰόκολπον (violet-tressed, one with violets in her lap)
ὦ κάλα, ὦ χαρίεσσα κόρα (o beautiful, graceful girl)
ἦρος ἄγγελος ἰμερόφωνος ἀήδων (nightingale, sweet-voiced messenger of spring)
i’m guessing this post is going around right now because i’ve received a couple of asks about some of the genders!
several people have pointed out that ὀ κάλλιστος (the fairest) is masculine, which doesn’t make a ton of sense in the context of talking about a girlfriend at first thought. however, the gender of ὀ κάλλιστος relies here on an implied masculine word (ἀστήρ), which is not repeated because context tells us what the adjective is referring to. however! greek does sometimes change the gender of an adjective to match the gender of its recipient RATHER than grammatical gender, so you could also say καλλίστη if it bothers you that much
ἄγγελος is masculine because…well, that’s just the gender of the noun. i’ve never seen a feminine form of it. and even then, it technically refers to nightingale, which is masculine
even in the case of the first one, where the language allows for a change in gender, i didn’t change it because the original line works, and i wanted to keep the original text. i also didn’t change any words to the vocative, mostly because i’m lazy, but also to keep the original quote intact

Note: these are different ways these can show up. They can also show up in a stereotypical way. If you've met one autistic, you've met one autistic.
REALLY
FUCKING ALL OF THEM??!?!?!!
This is similar to the fact that a lot of us autistics thought we weren't autistic because diagnostic surveys are written by and for neurotypical people.
Saw a post where someone made fun of another persons atypical way of typing and when they were then told that the person in question type like that because of a disability, they went “how was I supposed to just know that?” - and in case anyone wasn’t aware the answer to that kind of fuckery is:
“You’re not supposed to know that, you’re just supposed to not make fun of anyone’s harmless differences regardless of whether they’re disabled or not. You’re not supposed to be able to tell “weird” abled neurotypicals and disabled/mentally ill people apart, you’re just supposed to treat people with respect generally speaking. It’s not that hard. “I didn’t know they were disabled” is just not the excuse you think it is cause you’re not supposed to make fun of anyone for completely harmless differences regardless of whether said differences are related to a disability or not.
out of boredom i decided to scan a stuffed shark. here are the results.
your work is appreciated
op i spent entirely too long on this and im sorry
It’s 1:30 am and I’m cackling like a deranged witch
YOUR ART ON TUMBLR IS BEING USED TO TRAIN AI!
The setting that prevents your work being used to train AI models is turned off by default! I had no idea about this until now! Artists, go to your settings, click “visibility”, and turn on this setting! Protect your work!
《Made a visual guide of how to get there, because it's under a weird tab.
Go to your blog (you have to do this for each individual blog) and the visibility tab
It's this last option here
Hate this shit, but turn it off babey》

And when a six-foot tall Persian priestess with a fucking GOLD EYE speaks, you know you damn well listen to what she has to say.
LOOK WHO HAS SOMETHING DRAW. IT IS ME, MY GAY BITCHES.
Finally had a tiny break time.
So…. Anyone still up for golden eyed six foot tall priestess??
Oh, you better listen to her!
i’ll listen to her, give her my food, worship her, do her laundry, and generally be extremely gay
Okay but this is so cool.
This is the earliest prosthetic eye ever recorded, and the surgery was a success. It appears that it was held in with thread and was worn regularly, with signs of infection in the eye socket showing that it had possibly been worn too much without cleaning.
The whole eye was not gold, instead mostly being made of bitumen with the golden lines inscribed into it in a pattern that some archeologists suggest may be an imitation of the sun, the 8 radial outward lines being sun rays, to represent light. There are also hints of white pigment on the surface, indicating that once part of the eye may have been mimicking the sclera (white bit of the eye).
Some suggest that her eye elevated her status, and based on the responses of everyone here, that’s easily possible.
Shahr-i Sokhta (sometimes written as Shahr-e Sukhteh), meaning The Burnt City, is the name given to a substantial Bronze Age walled urban se
Bonus, the eye itself (which resided in the left eye socket):
Reblogging this version for the revelation that this ancient priestess prosthetic eye had a golden sun inscribed on it.
I’m not sure if that’s cooler or equally cool as a fully gold eye, but I feel like people need to know! Especially artists because I want to see that illustrated!
extremely cool that the removal of wolf protections in europe are being driven by an eu official having one of her horses killed by a wolf. literal cartoon villain shit
if you own horses you should be disqualified from participation in government
and after this happened, they put that specific wolf on a kill list and then proceeded to shoot the wrong wolf. geniuses
Environmental groups condemn EU Parliament’s approval to downgrade wolf protection as an attack on nature Today, the European Parliament app
For anyone who thought this is too stupid to be real, I'll remind you the year is 2025. The EU official in question is Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission. She is the latest in a long line of idiot Germans to think the CDU disguises her evil.
okay here's a petition against this
