I was huge Half-life fan, much like everyone else. I used to play the game all the time, nearly everyday. That was intel a few months ago.
A few months ago I was sent a flash drive. It had a note on it. The note said “HL1 beta 1996 ~ Anonymous”. After receiving the flash drive, I took the flash drive up to my room, and plugged the flash drive into my computer.
The flash drive had two files, HL_Compile_10.exe and Readme.txt. I clicked on Readme. It was confusing It just said Do not play this over and over again. “How strange” I weeped. I clicked on the .exe and my windows warned that this may be a virus, I ignored it, as I said I was a Half-life fanatic. When I saw the hl2 beta leaks I downloaded it without a second thought. As I was saying I clicked on the .exe, and my computer fans went crazy. It took around 10 minutes for it to load, so I waited.
When the dam thing finally finished loading I saw the main menu. The main menu had a picture of one of the scientists. The one with the glasses. I noticed something strange. The scientist had a name tag that read “anonymous”. I pressed the start button and the game started. When the game started I was in a car driving to black mesa. “What the fuck. This is not how Half-life supposed to started” I thought in anger. Then I remembered that this was the Half-life beta, and calmed down. As Gordon drove to his Black Mesa, he hit a scientist. The same scientist on the main menu. The blood that covered Gordon’s windshield looked weird. It didn’t look like the normal blood you would find in the game. It looked like real blood. It didn’t seem like it shuld be possible on the Goldsrc engine. Anyways, after Gordon hit the scientist, he kept driving. Like nothing had even happened. When Gordon reached the entrance to Black Mesa he crashed into a van. THE VAN THAT BARNEY USES TO ESCAPE IN HALF-LIFE: BLUE SHIFT.
After this something strange happened. I switch perspectives to the Anonymous scientist. I can hear the hyper realistic groans of Anon. It didn’t sound like it was coming from the game, it sounded like it was coming from right next to me. “Help, Help me” Anon groans. After a bit of walking I reach Black Mesa. When Anon reached Black Mesa he was helped by a Barney and another scientist.
We, once again, switch perspectives. This time back to Gordon. Gordon is (finally) on the tram ride. On this version, other people are with him on the ride. We are instructed to kill everyone else. I was horrified. I tried to not do it but then Gordon started moving on his own. He killed one Scientist by snapping his neck. The crunch sounded so realistic.I don’t think I’ll ever forget that. When a Barney tried to pull his gun on him, Gordon punched him in the face, stole his gun, and then pushed him off the tram. He shot the other three people. Their screams were all so realistic. “No” I screamed. I paused the game, traumatised by what I’ve seen.
I tried to take a break but the game beckoned me to it. I had to keep playing. We switched perspectives back to Anon, he was now becoming my favorite over to play as. Anon is being pushed in a wheelchair. He’s in the entrance to the Black Mesa. But then, Gordon shows up. Gordon shoots the Barney, and three other scientists in the room. I tried to wheel Anon out of there but Gordon was too fast. He grabbed Anon's wheelchair and pushed him out of it. I started to cry, how could Gordon do this?
The screen flashed black for a split second and Anon disappeared. At this point I paused the game again. I decided to go for a walk. When I tried to go outside I got a horrible headache however I decided to go back inside. I start the game. Gordon stairs at me, like directly into my eyes. “Well, your finally back” Gordon says, in his high pitch voice. How could he be talking? Gordon can’t talk? After that he disapears. For a split second Anon's dead body flashed on the screen. His body was covered in realistic blood.
“Hello!” I heard from behind me. I turned around. Gordon Freeman was behind me. He reached over to me tryin to push me into my monitor. I tried to push him back but he wasstronger. He pushed me into the monitor. After he pushed me into the monitor, I WAS INSID PF HAFL-LIFR!
Ilooked infront of me. I saw Gordon standing infront of the monitor. He waved to me and then shut off the monitor.
If your wondering what the hell you just read, read this post
Grabbing you guys by the shoulders so tightly as I say you have to reblog things regardless of how old the posts are, this is the show and tell website
^ (prev tags) Yeah this is is important too ! I would also add :
Just generally don't use a tag if your post is not about the fandom/the stuff you're tagging (that will get you reported)
Don't use a fandom/character/ship tag to say how much you hate it or you think people are wrong for shipping it etc
Adding an image description, or sometimes an audio description, is common practice here. You can put it in your reblog (works even if the image is from someone else's reblog) or in the alt text. Example below
Don't use the alt text only to be funny. You can be funny with it as long as what you're doing is only describing the image.
[Image ID: tumblr tag that says “hi hello! also don't talk about how much you hate a character in the notes on a post about that character where the op is being positive”. End ID]
I’m lowkey driving to my vacation rn and like I’ve just been staring at my Home Screen
It’s actually been relaxing tho cause I kinda developed anxiety with being in cars :,)
I can’t stare at my Home Screen for multiple hours guys I need to be some what productive
Maybe I’ll stare at it for a few more minutes then write or animate :)
Chat do yall have any ideas on what I should do besides draw, play games, and work on videos?
If you do lemme know in the comments!
"screen time screen time screen time screeeeEEEEEEEE" before the smartphone, kids were so bored they'd play with explosives, vandalize local infrastructure and harass old people for entertainment.
fund libraries. fund makerspaces. fund youth sports. enable kids to actually go places without having to ask someone to drive them everywhere. excessive reliance on digital spaces is a symptom of having nothing else to do.
We also need to allow children and esp teenage children to exist in public without seeing that as threatening or criminal. Loitering is a fake crime. Teens making noise by riding bikes or skateboarding outside is not a crime. People sitting on their front stoops hanging out IS NOT A FUCKING CRIME. Someone sleeping in a park IS NOT A FUCKING CRIME. Some kids fooling around in the bushes IS NOT A FUCKING CRIME. Black and brown kids EXISTING OUTSIDE IS NOT A FUCKING CRIME.
Basic Fandom Etiquette Everyone Needs to Remember:
Creators do not owe anyone content. Do not ask writers when they will update.
If an author did not ask for [negative] criticism , do not give criticism.
Read the tags carefully before reading a fanfic.
If you ignored the tags and were upset, that is your responsibility, not the creator’s.
Disliking a ship does NOT give you the right to attack people who enjoy it.
Do not tell authors or shippers that their ship is “disgusting,” “wrong,” or “shouldn’t exist.” Shipping fictional characters is not a moral failing.
No one is obligated to justify why they ship two fictional characters.
Headcanons are PERSONAL interpretations, not universal truth.
Dark themes in fiction do not equal real life beliefs or intentions.
Leaving kudos or short positive comments genuinely matters.
Not every fanwork is made for you, and that is okay.
Scrolling past content you dislike is better than engaging negatively
Enjoying a fandom later than others does not make someone less of a fan.
Disliking a fanfic does not entitle you to announce that to its creator. Sending hate comments to authors is NEVER justified, even if you disliked the work.
