Hearing car doors closing, you walk over to the window to see Emily getting out of a black SUV with Hotch and Jack. You pick up Gideon from the swing and cradling him in your arms before going over to the door. You open it right before Emily goes to knock.
“Well isn’t this a surprise.” You say letting them inside.
“I felt bad that Hotch couldn’t be there to see the baby when we all went so I brought him here.” Emily explains as she hangs everyone’s coats up in the hall closet.
“More like dragged me here.” Hotch says making you giggle.
You bring them to the living room before handing Gideon over to Hotch. You watched him as he cradled the six pound baby in his arms. Nothing was better than seeing your former boss holding your baby. He hasn’t held a baby since Jack was born. He never held either of JJ’s kids or Derek’s son. So holding your son was a special moment for him. He’s seen the newest profilers grow up in the office but now, because of Scratch, he wasn’t going to see your baby grow up. He wouldn’t always get to see Spencer be a father like he always hoped he would be. He wouldn’t see the kids come to the office dressed up for Halloween or see their smiling faces when they get back from a case. So he’s determined to cherish this moment with baby Gideon.
He stared at Gideon as he slept peacefully in his arms, his little hand curled up in a fist next to his cheek. He was so tiny that to Hotch he felt like he was holding a football in his arms. Light and airy. Or in Gideon’s case, light and gassy.
“Alright, I don’t get a photo of this moment, Garcia is going to kill me.” Emily says as she gets off the love seat and pulling out her phone.
