afc richmond as tiktoks part 2
Part 1
You have to pee in the shower to get into heaven
Every time.
Every June, i go to yet another pride festival and I think about gender not as biological or sociological, but linguistic.
We (humans) made all this up. For the sake of simplifying our understanding of the world we live in, we came up with categories that apply broadly to most instances. So when something new comes up, it's easiest to put things in one of those boxes.
This is not always applicable. That's why we have a word for 'fish,' and most people agree on what is and is not a 'fish,' but all fish do not share a common ancestor.
Another example: 'vegetable' is not a useful term in biology, but it is a useful culinary term. So we can put things like tomatoes (fruits), carrots (tuber), and broccoli (flower) in the vegetable category for cooking and dietary classification, even if individually they're different things.
Those kinds of classifications are useful in the disciplines where they are useful, but generally not outside of it. In an ideal situation you look at every instance with individual nuance, but sometimes that can be a bit much.
Arguing taxonomy is a favorite pastime of a certain kind of guy that I work with. It's a way to feel googleably smart, but its not always applicable in real-world situations. (Example: I once said I was cold. He told me that 'cold does not exist, it's the absence of heat.' Which might be true, but hypothermia is real. Warping of metal under extreme conditions is real. Contracting of molecules, shattering of glass, and presence of ice are all very real. So while possibly technically correct, functionally useless as a talking point. Believing that 'cold' does not exist does not make me less cold.)
When trolls are like 'what is a woman,' I'm like... several levels of education above answering that question in a way that they're willing to understand, because they are trolling. They dont actually want an answer and they wont listen to the answer i give them. "You'll still have to go to a procologist instead of a gynecologist." Etcetera.
Those are areas where the words 'man' and 'woman' might be useful distinctions, but it's also really rude to talk about a person's genitals, so I really don't need to know what kinds of doctors they see.
So when a person is not conforming to their gender, it's been easy for me to accept that linguistically they have a right to call themselves whatever they want, their social structure may allow for this, and biologically it's none of my fucking business.
i just found /r/birdloaf
"rickrolling is mean" rickrolling is the gentle, kind, prosocial descendant of what we used to do on the internet, which was putting a redirect to goatse in every possible misspelling of a url
starter babies
also I don't think parents "these days" are uniquely terrible, I just think neglect is showing up in new ways as technology progresses. today's ipad kid would've been wandering around in a ditch alone all day and night before. parents not wanting to have to deal with children is not a new phenomenon.
and what if I said that buying inhabited land, and the concept of being able to own the earth, is also pretty central to imperialism
does anyone have the alex jones elf town drunkard post i made years ago
yes dawg i think about this post every day
i like how all cats regardless of species can either look rlly badass and cool or just incredibly silly stupid
my proof
This June, I need Gen Z queers to understand that some people are closeted.
I am saying this as a Gen Z queer, before yâall get your guns out to fucking shoot me.
But I need yâall to understand that if someone doesnât give you their government name in a queer space, itâs not because theyâre âmysterious,â and you do not have permission to take it upon yourself to figure out their âreal identityâ and go digging for them online like a private investigator. First, thatâs creepy and a violation of privacy and reasonable boundaries. Second, some of us keep our private and professional lives very separate because we need to keep food on the fucking table and a roof over our heads, and our private life could jeopardize that.
âWhy wonât you tell me about your parents?â âWhy canât I know your real name?â âWhere do you work?â
1.) Not all our parents would bake us a fucking cake when we come out. Some of us are closeted. Surely you understand this? You also do not need to know my parentâs names or occupations; we are both adults. I do not need nor want to mix you and my private life with my parents and my public life.
2.) Trans people do not owe you their dead name or government name
3.) Iâm not telling you for the sake of job security. I am a government fucking caseworker working amidst a fucking lavender panic!
âThereâs no way youâre a different person outside this; youâre still you at your core. What harm is thereââ
No, I am a completely different person. A different person with a different personality and different interests and a different name and presentation. I am a completely different person because I keep this life and my public life private to avoid fracturing 90% of my interpersonal relationships and 100% of my professional ones.
âYouâre not out? But youâre so confident.â
Seeâ thatâs part of the issue. Yâall assume someone is in the closet because they hate themselves or lack self-identity. Some of us know exactly who we are, but need to prioritize financial stability or else our entire life gets exponentially harder immediately.
You meet queer people over the age of 40 and one of the first/earliest questions is âwho knows?â
I need yâall to start bringing that energy. Because itâs not always safe for someone to be out and not everyone is safe to be out around.
There is a misnomer that âthe closetâ inherently means âdoesnât know theyâre queerâ and not âisnât out widely and publicly.â âOutnessâ is often a patchwork.
every time yâall say âI want to fuck that old manâ then point at a 30 year old you are introducing an invasive species into the fuckable old man ecosystem
Lil nas x coming back during pride month to tell us hes been taking care of his physical and mental health, finishing rehab and getting treatment for bipolar disorder, and telling us that he is excited to not only make new music but also just to live his life???? And during mens mental health awareness month????? Oh i missed him bad

hi everybody if there is a food or medicine recall and it is only an issue in the USA can we please make sure that this is mentioned somewhere in the post so that people don't have to hunt through articles and comments and ask follow up questions to make sure we don't have to freak ourselves or our friends/family out about the food we eat or the meds we take. peace and love! and sorry about the recalls!
Also for invasive animals. Believe it or not, animals that are invasive in the US had to come from another part of the world where they're part of the ecosystem. Pretty sick of seeing posts saying "this animal is invasive and you need to kill every one you see." People live all around the world, and I do not trust all of them to look into *where* a species is invasive exactly when given an excuse to kill things "for the greater good."
