The best thing about this is how much love for Rothko there is in it. Like... here. Here is a rectangle, and if you stand far away it's just two or three colors a bit streaky, and the closer you get the more it opens up until it swallows you whole with the idea of how vast it is, how much bigger than you. If someone framed the real-life sea and sky and told everybody that's what my artwork was like to them I'd kiss them

If I was going to put the Horrible Goose in a D&D game, I wouldn’t make it some big high-CR threat – it’d just be a regular goose that’s capable of regular goose stuff, with three significant exceptions:

1. It can show up anywhere, even if there’s no reasonable way for it to have gotten there.

2. It seems to have limited ontological intertia. If the players imprison it, it vanishes from its prison when they’re not looking. If they kill it, another goose shows up eventually. It’d be impossible to prove that it’s always the same goose, save for the third notable trait…

3. …namely, that it doesn’t show up in divinations. Like, at all. Predictions don’t take it into account. Scrying on its location reveals an empty room. Spells that would detect it or read its mind act like there’s no valid target present. If the cleric communes with their god and asks about it, their god has no idea what the cleric is talking about. It might take some doing to arrange for the players to become aware of this property, so don’t force it – the opportunity will arise!

There we go. No goofy boss monster tricks, yet it’s guaranteed to drive your players nuts – not even by harassing them, necessarily, but just by existing as they try to figure out what it means, particularly once they learn of the third trait discussed above.

My cat is diabetic and I have to use these monitors for him. I got an email alert from the company about it on November 26. I didn't realize there wasn't an actual recall out yet.

News articles are great but I think direct info from the source is more important here, though all of the stuff above appears to be correct. For something as potentially impactful on peoples' health as this, I think the barrier to getting to the information should be as low as possible.

This is the official website to use to check serial numbers. It has the tool to check and full instructions on locating the serial. There is also an FAQ page.

The email I received also listed a customer service number and an online support page.

I had one of the US failures. Reading went from 180 after a meal to 65 in minutes.

I checked with my old meter and called Abbott.

I put another one on and got an in-device warning to replace it. I … didn’t. Because it was working fine. If it had gone low, then sure, but I assumed I’d notice an unusual reading and cross check. I also checked and replaced all the boxes in my cabinet. Abbott sent replacements.

Also, my pharmacy notified me of the recall on items they’d filled.

So I felt pretty well informed, Not bad for a secunit with a faulty governor module…

"Last Thursday, at a town hall in Jonesborough, Tennessee, a 35-year-old woman shared her story: she was denied prenatal care by her physician because they objected to the fact that she wasn’t married, nor did she plan to be. She’d been with her partner for 15 years and they have a 13-year-old child.

While going through her medical history, the physician told her that because she was unwed, they didn’t feel comfortable treating her, because it went against their values and she should seek care elsewhere. At the time of the appointment, the woman believed she was about four weeks into her pregnancy.

Now, she’s traveling out of state to Virginia to receive prenatal care.

This is the first reported case of a woman being denied prenatal care for being unmarried in the state of Tennessee.

On April 24th, Tennessee’s 2025 Medical Ethics Defense Act went into effect. It gives physicians, hospital systems and insurers, among others, the legal right to deny healthcare to patients based on religious, moral or ethical beliefs. There are no protections for people in rural areas with limited options. There’s no requirement to refer patients elsewhere. And there’s no legal recourse. The woman at the town hall explained that her representatives are not responsive to her questions, even as she repeatedly calls Sen. Marsha Blackburn. When she reached staff at Sen.
