I think a lot of people forget that Wen Ning is hot. We know that both Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng are jealous of him, but this is generally assumed to be because Wei Wuxian prioritizes Wen Ning over the two of them during the events of the novels. He prioritizes Wen Ning as a member of his found family, as a partner in crime and as his closest friend. But it is so much funnier—so much juicier, drama-wise—to remember that Wen Ning is described as physically beautiful many times in the books. An enemy of the state just stole Wei Wuxian from right under your nose, and he’s also hot. Humiliating. Devastating. 2 dead 3k injured

I will always adore the wangxian confession scene in the mdzs audio drama just for how after the iconic “I REALLY wanted to sleep with you!” Jin Guangyao just gives a big sigh as the rain starts and asks everyone to come inside the temple in a completely exasperated tone.

Like that was the moment he understood that he is actually a secondary character in wangxian romance novel.

i remember when mdzs first came out and i didn't know shit about the genre yet, so my friend and i found it in a bookstore and she went "grandmaster of demonic cultivation???? what is 'cultivation'. google says it's practicing agriculture. how can you do that demonically." and i was like "farming evilly and deviously......"

anyways this exchange became ten times funnier when i read mdzs years later and got to the part where everyone thinks wei wuxian is establishing a horrible evil demonic sect with the wen remnants but he's actually just trying to farm so they don't starve. doing some straight up evil and demonic and devious farming.

So I was thinking about how, after WWX and LWJ tell LXC about JGY using the collection of turmoil, LXC decides to test the corrupted music on himself - what if, in his grief and guilt after Guanyin Temple, he carries on 'testing' it? Essentially poisoning himself while in seclusion because he feels like he deserves it. He already hates himself for killing JGY, even though JGY did horrible things, but he also can't forgive himself for the part he played in NMJ's death. So he carries on playing the corrupted music until he suffers a qi deviation and dies in the same way as NMJ.

There is a sense of justice to it, isn't there? Nie Mingjue died (Was killed. Was murdered. Was betrayed.) because of Lan Xichen's choices. It's almost fitting that he dies the same way. He wonders if Nie Huaisang would agree.
