Once in art school, for an exam they showed us an unhinged short film at the start of the exam and had us write a paper on it on the spot. I blacked out through most of the video and ended up blabbing some BS about the moments the actors made eye contact with the camera (couldn’t even name a single instance mind you) and how they broke the fourth wall, blah blah.

Got so much praise. Got absolutely smothered with adoration for the lecturer. He really thought I was the only person who really paid attention.

Art school is a lie guys.

When I hold my dog, my loved ones too but mostly my dog, I envision the love I have inside me as a physical thing and push it out and into her. To keep her warm and protect her.

How can you tell me love at first sight doesn’t exist when I saw a dog I had no intention of keeping after the recent loss of my own and instantly knew that I would love her forever. When I saw a tiny feral kitten and knew I had to fight to keep her safe.

Today my bed is kept warm by two souls and it was never even a choice.
