comic where steve from minecraft sees a round guy
TIL in 1896 a temporary, one-day city was named in Texas called Crush, where two locomotives were to be smashed head-on for purposes of spectacle. It was, for a few hours, the 2nd largest city in TX with 40k attendees. The collision caused engine boilers to explode, resulting in death and injuries.

you could just do shit back then
texas is still like this
Basically its this:
1. Yes I think tgirls should be allowed and even encouraged to transition. And while it is true to say that you don't necessarily need to do certain physical changes to call yourself a girl, often times this sentiment is shared to downplay the importance of transition and even coerce girls away from it. So I think its vital to actively support, encourage, and assist in full medical and physical transition instead of mere platitudes of "you dont have to transition to be heckin valid!"
2. That said holy FUCK would it kill you to be normal about girls with dicks?
This is kinda ominous ngl
Gotta compliment him on his reflexes. No hesitation. Just described exactly what he was seeing, regardless of what it was.
[VD: A weatherman is giving a report and pointing to a map, saying "feel like temperatures really take a tumble too, because after the storm-" before he is interrupted by the screen going black and then displaying a picture of some baby spinach. He says, "um," then immediately points to the screen and confidently announces, "this is baby spinach." /End VD]
I feel like this downplays how good his (and all TV meterologists') reflexes actually are.
That man is standing in front of a green wall. Those images are not actually appearing next to him. He sees them on a monitor next to his teleprompter, in broadcast perspective which is opposite of how he actually is standing.
I've done the weathercast simulator at my local science museum. It's fucking hard. This isn't just his skill to react to a new thing popping up next to him, it's his skill to react to an unexpected thing fifteen feet away from him and gesture to a blank wall as if that was totally normal.

Does anybody actually know what an engineer is
It's a person that turns Coffee into Incidents
in three years someone will ask Claude "hey i'm trying to write some code to figure out the shortest route a travelling salesman could take given a set of cities and distances between them but it runs very slowly, can you help me make it faster" and Claude will be like "Happy to help! I profiled your code and identified the bottleneck: your problem is NP-hard. To confirm this couldn't be worked around, I went ahead and proved P ≠ NP — proof attached (about 400 lines; I've added comments for readability). The good news is your implementation is now provably near-optimal, so no further changes are needed."
and then people will still say it's not really an artificial intelligence just fancy autocomplete
@tsundereace
As someone who has compared LLM's to "fancy autocomplete" its not that i don't think these things can't do problem solving, at this point that seems proven so it would be wrong to claim otherwise, but by its self that doesn't seem like its sufficient to consistence intelligence in a remotely meaningful capacity. for example if you put a stream of water into a maze it could also solve it but I don't think your average person is going to think that means that water can think. So I'de argue theirs at least one other requirement for a thing to be considered intelligent artificially or otherwise and that's awareness of the actual problem it's solving, and from what i've seen of stuff where its hilariously wrong I don't think LLM stuff does have this
do you think 'awareness of the actual problem it's solving' cashes out to anything observable, or is it a purely internal state with no real-world consequences?
if in fact the joke I describe in the OP literally happened and an LLM correctly solved one of the most famous open problems in mathematics in the course of helping a user with a different request, would that be something that convinces you that there is actual intelligence there?
If the situation in the OP occurred I would certainly believe that my present understanding of LLM function is incorrect or incomplete
DID anything like the situation in OP occur?
nothing quite as momentous as the joke in the OP has happened yet. LLMs have recently made quite a few advances in solving open mathematical problems, including most recently (and the thing that prompted the joke) finding a counterexample to the jacobian conjecture (a reasonably famous unsolved-until-now math problem)
Your pronouns sound like someone clearing their throat
you guys find new ways to hate crime every day

As for me, I LOVE vegemite, and lying to foreigners.
"I can't believe humans would hunt the thylacine to extinction, humans are fundamentally evil" Hey, did you know that extinction was long thought to be impossible, and within 50 years of humans realizing that extinction via overhunting was a possibility it practically stopped happening? Did you know that humans are so desperate to prevent more losses that they're funneling millions of collective hours and billions of euros into helping other species? Hours and euros that could be spent on humans, and species on whom humanity's own survival does not depend? Did you know that due to an accidental introduction of rats, the Lord Howe Island stick insect population was brought down to 24 individuals and now there are tens of thousands of them?
This bug. This bug that, to most humans, is utterly useless, relatively gross, and completely foreign. Humans saved it because humans do not want to cause another extinction ever again if they can avoid it.
Your father use to roleplay as a tape worm for my pleqsure

i was trying to find this post earlier (duck duck go doesnt find posts well) and i—
"how do you feel about labels as a queer person?"
was thinking about how the concept of god is usually characterized as male (thanks patriarchy) and i came up with a question: in christian theology,
does "God" have a penis?
surely the catholic church made some sort of ruling on this
stop derailing with Jesus's foreskin, this post is about God's genitals ONLY
Hi, Catholic here—the only part of the holy trinity with a human body is the Son (Jesus) so yes, but also God the Father doesn’t have a human body so no, but the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all the same being as well so yes, but all humans including women are created in the image of God so hypothetically He has everything else too. Hope this helps.
thank you it did not!
Using he him pronouns doesn't necessarily indicate having a penis does it gaudy
see that's gender studies 101 but i wanna force the catholic church to ADMIT it
Also for what it's worth Catholic God doesn't use he/him. He uses He/Him which theologians insist is distinct from human pronouns.
so the catholic church wants you to respect their god's neopronouns
Yo, heads up on the elizabeth holms post from 2014. Came out years ago that she was actually running a huge scam with the blood thing and is perhaps not so girlboss
