DNF’d not even a page in. Let me tell you how fanfic has completely ruined the first person perspective for me. It’s actually unreadable.

As someone with an internal monologue, I just don’t see anyone thinking that way in their heads???

(And as a fellow victim of SA, the r*pe mention on the first page felt… off-putting?? And not normal? But I’m only speaking from my perspective so maybe others will have a different opinion. But I preferred the slow reveal on the show as we got to know the characters. And didn’t Hannah say she didn’t want to be known as the ‘girl that was r*ped’ so why is that one of the first things we learn about her???)

some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.
