hello tumblr void, it's been a while.

Im just posting here to say what I feel like I can't to my loved ones.

I'm scared.

I'm more than anxious.

About this world. About my country. Slipping slowly, but every day more surely, into Right-wing extreme ideology.

I am white, I am male, and I am cis. All these things would make me a viable candidate to join the fall into fascist ideocracy that is brewing in the western world.

Living in the UK, I always saw america's fling to the right from a distance. But recently, the "Reform" party has been making massive gains in public opinion.

For those who don't know, "Reform UK" are an extremely right-wing party who are bankrolled and lead by Nigel Farage (can't be arsed to check spelling, he doesn't deserve my time). His one drum that he keeps banging is: "THE IMMIGRANTS ARE TAKING OVER!"

He was the one who pushed the Brexit campaign to victory. He was the one who taged a picture of fleeing refugees with the text "Breaking point", as if asylum seekers would magically stop coming if we left the EU. He was the one who created both UKIP and the Brexit party. Everything the man does is self serving, yet all he does is spin all of Britain's problems caused by austerity, as actually caused by there being "too many" immigrants.

Now, he and his party are trying to repeal rights of immigrants. Even those who came here legally, Who pay taxes, who have the right to remain in the UK indefinitely... this is some witch hunt shit.

Im scared. Because my loved ones are immigrants. My colleagues are immigrants. My doctors, teachers, neighbours are immigrants.

What will happen, really happen, if this pig, this monster, gets into an actual official position of power?

I don't want this personified stain on history to be representing me and my neighbours on the world stage. The thought makes me sick to my stomach with dread.

I hope and pray that the man keels over of a heart attack one day. I long to hear that he's had a stroke. I just want him to stop. Maybe without their charismatic leader, the racists will crawl back into their hellhole.

Okay, here's my idea:

The British should put a time limit on the Monarchy.

Not like declaring a republic tomorrow, but deciding on a date in the future that ends the British Monarchy.

And there's a perfect date for it coming up!

October 14th, 2066.

A thousand years since the Battle of Hastings. A thousand years of this one specific bloodline ruling England.

Call time on the Monarchy after exactly one thousand years. Nice, and neat.

Even better: Charles isn't living 44 years. He'll be gone in about twenty. Now William? He's what, 40? Yeah, he can live another 44 years. His great grandmother was over a hundred, his granny was 96, William can make it to 84 barring accident or assassination.

So on October 14th 2066, William the Last steps down a thousand years after William the First won the crown.

Nice, neat, and fair. William gets the crown he's been waiting forty years for already, but ten-year-old George grows up without expectation of it.

Have a nice big abdication ceremony, even.
