Drawing inspiration from last weekend’s Women’s March on Washington, a gay activist in New York City has announced plans for the National Pride March, a “mass” LGBT protest at the nation’s capital on June 11.
See yall in DC this summer?
why are So Many practitioners/teachers of psychology and related fields neurotypical. you wanna talk fetishizing lets talk how many people get into psychology just because my Brain Problems are Fascinating
its funny bcs when the leading expert on bpd admitted that she has bpd other psychiatrists who are neurotypical suddenly became dedicated to discrediting her when previously they had agreed with her like thats how fuckin deep ableism goes
Her name is Marcia Linehan, the therapy program she designed for BPD is called dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and is incredibly innovative and immensely helpful to so many people and is used to treat a variety of mental illnesses aside from BPD, and all of that is 100% accurate, other folks in the field started treating her like absolute shit after she “came out.”
*quiet froth*
I think I posted this before, but when I was in college there was a sign up in the psychology department that answered “common” questions people had. One of the questions was, “Can I be a psychologist even if I don’t have a mental illness?” And the answer was something along the lines of “Yes, in fact it’s better if you aren’t because then you won’t project onto your patients.” Because you know, NT people would NEVER have biases or anything.
I get what this post is saying and the last part is definitely awful but also it’s like…a doctor can treat someone for a disease they’ve never had
There's definitely a line between academic interest and fetishising, but let's not get into a #NotAllPsychologists thing.
when i was little and my parents were driving id pretend there was a man/being/thing running alongside the car who had to follow certain rules like “he can only travel by jumping from streetlight to streetlight” or “he can only walk on fences”
i was so surprised to find out that other people did similar things
i wonder what the underlying psychology behind it is
like its a really specific thing to do but almost everyone did it without telling other kids about it because we all thought it was probably weird or unimportant
wait I’m not the only one who did this?
I did this too. Maybe the influence of platforming video games?
I love the extra details in Brooklyn Nine Nine so much, like look at the rainbow folders in the background here!
And then they move to Gina’s work station and stay there throughout the rest of the show, in that exact order. Like imagine Gina needing the contents of those folders but seeing they’re arranged in rainbow order and making sure they stay that way
Then Captain Holt gets this lil rainbow flag instead and it moves with him when he gets transferred to the public relations department and then moves with him again when he moves back into the 99
What Captain Holt said in the first episode of the show is so true, like he really doesn’t try to hide the fact that he’s gay, he has rainbow things everywhere like I can’t imagine what purpose that tiny disco ball could have other than to show that he’s gay and not ashamed of that at all (also look at the tiny NYC model it’s so cute)
Gina has a jar on her desk that says ‘Ashes of Problem Employees’ and I can 100% imagine her threatening people she doesn’t like with that jar and them blowing it off but also being just a tiny bit worried
Then look at Jake’s car. He has a rubber duck stuck to his dashboard and a rubber chicken and shaving cream? Like he’s always running late so imagine him just perfecting the art of somehow shaving in the car to save time and washing his face the second he walks into the building so he just always has shaving cream in the car with him and literally everyone who sees him is just sort of disgusted but also a lil bit impressed
And look at his desk!!! He has a #1 Detective sticker on his lamp and this tiny police car and it’s just so so cute to me, like what if he got that police car when he was a kid and first decided he wanted to be a detective and that lil car came with him to uni and to the academy and moving from desk to desk with him until he finally gets to be a detective
Idk I just really love this show and their attention to detail
Are you a boy or a girl ?
Not to my knowledge .
Re: The Murder Strut - I could say Gotta Be The Shoes, but does the walk still work barefoot, or does it rely on a certain style of combat boot?
since the conversation i mentioned involved tony it naturally also involved some scientific experimentation. the strut works in combat boots, boat shoes, bunny slippers, barefoot, and in six inch heels
it is apparently the most terrifying in heels
i gave steve 10 minutes and a sharpie. hes learned to not ask questions about these things. youre welcome.
this was for science.

so earlier i remembered how during one philosophy class, my professor asked us all to consider what we would do if we could be invisible for a day, because (as she would reveal to us later) she wanted to prove a point about observed accountability and situational morality. we all wrote down our answers, submitted them anonymously, and the prof read them back to us. about 95% of them were like “prank people”, “rob a bank”, “get in places for free”, “scare my best friend”, “spy on someone”, “sneak into closed off areas”, etc.
prof. read them all aloud so she could demonstrate how virtually everybody chose something they couldn’t morally or socially get away with if they were witnessed, and she was looking awfully entertained about how quickly the class proved her point until she got to one that just said “go swimming in the ocean.”
she stopped, read it again, and after a short period of confused silence a girl piped up very earnestly from the class “because the sharks wouldn’t be able to see me.”
i’m having a great time reading how people would want to live a day invisibly because we got the Relatables™:
the real forward thinkers:
and then whatever the hell this is:
it shouldn’t surprise people that respecting a cat’s boundaries (i.e. ceasing to pet them after they paw at you) helps them trust you more
Bathbomb was dropped off at my apartment very abused and scared he hid in the bathtub for an entire 24hrs. he barely/if ever ate for about a week and didnt begin exploring the apartment until 3 weeks in
it was a month before he came up to me and it was hard but i sat kinda near him every day i would treat him like he was a new cat and let him smell me before trying to pet him and if he even looked uncomfortable id gently stop and just sing or talk to him
now he climbs on my back and jumps on my shoulder if i dont pay attention to him so it takes work and time
cats are like ppl and have triggers and quirks and trauma and we have to be respectful and gentle its not that hard of a concept
this is an Important Post but my favorite part is that your cat’s name is Bathbomb
only european kids will remember...

There are some misleading headlines/tweets/general phrasings going around right now about the Republican healthcare bill. It passed the house of representatives, but it is not law. Currently Obamacare is still the law of the land. There are several more hurdles this bill would have to clear in order to be signed into law, many of which are looking unlikely. The Senate has already made a statement that they will not be voting on the House bill. That doesn’t mean we can rest easy, but it does mean that your healthcare is still safe for right now if you have Obamacare. I’m really glad everyone is staying informed and reading the news, but some of these headlines are scaring people and making them think that PP is now defunded and Obamacare is gone. The House voting to defund is different from defunding passing and becoming law.
I hope this helps someone. Stay strong everyone.
this is like the funniest thing clickhole ever did
