since her son approached her about the topic , lisa did everything she could to completely avoid dean. did she really have a reason ? no , but she didn’t like confrontation despite having a contradicting personality. she leaned up against the bar , drink sitting in front of her — barely touched. she sighed & picked up her drink , stirring it around absentmindedly. lisa closed her eyes before lifting the drink up to her lips & taking a long sip. the cool alcohol slipped down with a slight burn which is just how she liked it . with a few more sips of her drink , she finally knew that it was time to talk to dean. she needed to get things straight & to explain her side. with a $20 on the counter , she left — not truly knowing where to go but that she needed to find dean. dean. the best night of her life dean. a smile lifted up on her lips as her mind wandered back to that night.
it wasn’t too long after she stepped outside that she ran into who she was looking for. what a weird coincidence. “oh. i was just looking for you ,” she whispered , taken aback. she tried to manage a smile — it came out faltered ; flickering in & out of happiness. she wished she could feel mirth only upon looking at him. looking at the father of her child. a person who she sees in ben every single day.
“do you have time to talk ?” she asked , slipping her hands in the back pockets of her jeans.
