Shes mad at me because I suggested getting an inspection because shes lived in the house for 14 years and she's always seen things like this and it's just gotten worse since she took over the house. If you have scratches on you and you dont know where they came from, see a doctor. See a doctor. I dont know why you wont see a doctor. They can tell you if it comes from an animal. They can tell you if you're suffering from a mold allergy. They can tell you if you're experiencing side effects of gas exposure.

I wholeheartedly believe in ghosts. Absolutley not debating that ghosts and spirits and whatever you think you're seeing. I am posting this in a pagan facebook group. I 100% believe in ghosts.

This is why we need to stress, and I mean really stress, that mundane explanations are just as important as superstitious ones, and why I genuinely worry about our echo chambers.

Yes, I know we all want to believe that the feelings of dread may be coming from an evil presence in the room, but also certain hvac systems hum at a frequency that causes confusion and anxiety.

Yes it seems reasonable that your doors open and close on their own because granmas ghost is still hanging around. But please consider that the foundation of your house might be shifting.

Yes, you might feel a sense that something bad is going to happen, but that can also be generalized anxiety or obsessive compulsive disorder.

And being in a circle that refuses to accept that mundane explanations for supernatural problems feeds and triggers delusions. The pagan/witchcraft community is extremely neuro diverse, and these delusions can trigger spirals and put people in very... very bad places.

Please accept mundane explanations.

You are not 'crazy' for seeing ghosts and your house is not dirty for needing an inspection.

If you get an inspection and it comes back clean, you can feel smug about being right. If you dont get an inspection and you're wrong you and your children could get sick and die.

Why is salt good for exorcism and banishing and all that jazz? Well you see, way back in the day people knew jack-all about germs and microbes and for all they knew it was evil spirits that got into their food and made it go a-spoil. They Noticed and Observed that when you soaked food in a Lot of Salt, food stayed good longer. So that meant that the salt was keeping the bad spirits out. Now, tossing around salt and making salt circles makes for dramatic rituals, sure. But I think we all know that some entities are just powerful bastards and need some extra oomph to get them out of the damn house. You know what is more potent than salt at killing bacteria and germs? Bleach. You know what’s really good for just killing all kinds of stuff very dead? Medical autoclaves. Now I understand that not all of you have access to autoclaves, but I understand that a good pressure cooker can also do for sterilization. So therefore, I propose that if you have yourself a haunted doll or something that isn’t reponding to the usual methods, a wash with chlorine might be in order; and if that doesn’t to the job, a visit to the Insta-Pot might teach the bastard who’s boss around here. (Of course there might not be much of a doll left but it wasn’t like you needed to keep it around, anyway.)

when people talk about using magic in knitting or crochet, it’s often for protection, healing, or some other kind of blessing. that’s great, i’m working on a piece in that vein right now.

but i think it has great potential for the more baneful side of things too. imagine muttering maledictions into every stitch and having your target voluntarily wear it.

of course there’s the issue of giving it to them without prompting suspicion, if you have an obviously terrible relationship with the target. i think this would be best for someone who has harmed you and doesn’t recognize that, or has harmed someone you care about but thinks they’re on good terms with you. or you could potentially have a third party give it to them.

Coming from a tarot reader that's been doing this for 3+ years:

• I don't understand "bonding" with a deck. A lot of people do so much extra work to "bond" with their deck, such as sleeping with it under their pillow or on their bedside table. Why not just... use the deck? Doesn't getting to know the cards create that "bond"?

• I literally only cleanse my deck when I feel like it needs it. Otherwise, I just knock on the deck 3 times and go on with my readings.

• I'll admit I'm a little stingy with my decks, mostly because I have an irrational fear that people might damage the cards. That's my own personal issue tho lol

• ??? "Always let the querent handle your deck or else the reading won't go well"? What Sabrina Spellman said this? Tf?

• Reversals are a personal choice. You don't need them. I just like to include them because I feel they help clarify information.

• I literally have all of my decks stacked on one shelf in their original boxes. The decks probably don't care how you store them as long as they are safe from being damaged.

• Charged? Seriously? Sleep helps recharge people, yes? Then it's safe to assume that not using your deck for a while will give it time to recharge.

• "Special spirit"... I mean, way to ignore the fact that there are atheist and agnostic readers. Don't know who came up with that one.

• If a card "jumps out", it probably jumped out because you are shuffling aggressively and clumsily. Put it back. If it jumps out a second time then reconsider.

• Nah man, I'm gonna lay the cards facing me and verbalize what position the card came out it. The querent can wait to see all the cards.

• This ongoing bullshit about needing your first deck to be gifted to you honestly just sounds like gatekeeping.

Sigil Crafting

Sigils were the first magic I ever learned. As an artist, symbolism and aesthetic are things that are incredibly important to me. I have used multiple ways of crafting sigils, but I have created my own personal way of creating sigils using a method writers have used in poetry- the stream of consciousness technique.

I put my pen to paper, call upon what I wish to make a sigil about, and let the pen create what I need.

These are the sigils that I use the most frequently (you may use them if you wish).

You may notice that my sigils in the form of arrows. Arrows are a symbolic representation of aiming and shooting for something, and I love the vertically long look because I like to draw these sigils on my forearms.

I created all of these with stream of consciousness drawing.

It is almost like a form of meditation for me. Allowing myself to simply create what I think “focus” or “protection” looks like visually makes the end results beautiful and meaningful for me.

I do have a few running themes. Here are a few symbols I love to throw in.

These are used a ton in my art.

So here is a step by step of what to do-

1. Clear your mind for meditation. (Tip- if you have crystals that symbolize your intent, surround yourself with them. And example would be having a rose quartz for love on you or near you.)

2. Put your writing utensil to your paper. (I recommend using paper before digital.) Have your energy flow from your body to the focus of the tip of the pen/pencil, repeating the intent you wish the sigil to have.

3. Make a first draft of your sigil by allowing your hand to simply move as you think of your intent.

4. Make as many reiterations you wish until you have something you feel satisfied with. (Editing is a big part of writing as well.)

5. After a few tries making different sigils, make a list of your own common symbols you see popping up in your sigils.

And there you have it. If you are not comfortable, try mixing this technique with others to find what works best for you, or simply only use other techniques and make sigil arrows. I think using the look of an abstract arrow helps with directing intentions.
