i wanted to say something about cliff and ilya rating each others nudes
first of all they absolutely rate each others nudes, sometimes they send them not even with the intention to send the nudes so someone else, just for the hell of it, just to have the other saying hell yeah brother looking good, just to boost self esteem
second of all while the idea of them 10/10ing each picture is funny and appealing to me, i had a vision in which i saw the most meticulous earnest constructive criticism in order to help the other achieve absolute perfection
-(a dick pic, full light) move your hand down a bit, will make it seem bigger and maybe turn down the light a bit, give it an aura of mystery
-(navel to mid thigh, a giant hickey right where the pubes line starts) damn roz, who did this to you? (ilya says you should see the other guy. marley doesnāt catch on)
-(mirror selfie, full frontal) marley donāt you have a mirror outside of the bathroom? the toilet in the background is a bit of a buzzkill
-(hands down pants, dick fully erect) love the vibe but there is a giant hole in your boxers, maybe change those
-(bedroom vanity mirror, sweaty abs) damn roz someone in the bed with you? the lightnings dope but donāt send this to anyone with someone with an ass like that in the background

Ilya: Here's a photo of me in my Halloween costume
Shane, shoving a butt plug up his ass:
So one afternoon at the cottage, Ilya has been in and out of the lake all day, excited like a kid, splashing around and clowning and fascinated by the wildlife and showing off for Shane. And after they finally head back inside and shower off the lake smell, Shane settles on the couch with a book and Ilya flops down with him, stretched out with his head in Shane's lap and whining until Shane frees a hand to sink into his hair. And it's been such a nice full day and it's all warm dozy sunshine and the lovely earthy nature smell that's everywhere around the cottage and Ilya has his face tucked into Shane's stomach where he can breathe him in, the familiar scent of his detergent and body wash, and Shane's big warm hand is in his hair and Ilya's pleasantly tired and drowsy and so comfortable that he just... drifts off, the kind of wonderfully indulgent nap that he never really gets during the season and finds hard to justify when he's in Russia for the summer.
But this year he's not in Russia, and he slips into this warm syrupy slumber while Shane pets through his hair (incidentally making a disastrous mess of his curls) and reads his book. When Ilya eventually rouses, with a happy grumble of contentment, nuzzling closer into Shane's stomach, he can feels Shane laughing gently at him almost before he hears it.
"Did you sleep well?" Shane asks, and that sounds warm and syrupy too, and Ilya rolls over so he can smile at Shane and revel in the smile he gets in return.
And then Shane says, "Are you hungry? It's almost dinnertime," and Ilya realises he's been lying here, napping and pinning Shane to the couch and wasting both of their time, for hours, and he jackknifes upright so suddenly that Shane startles back.
"Fuck!" Ilya spits out. "I was--fuck, has been so long. Why didn't you wake me up?" already guilty because Shane had wanted to make some pasta thing that he was weirdly excited about and they'd talked about maybe playing more Chel but now the whole day's been napped away and--Ilya sneaks a look---Shane's book is lying closed on the couch, bookmark set neatly aside, so Shane had finished his book and not even been able to get up to go do something else.
And he's just smiling at Ilya, completely unconcerned that Ilya's been idle and asleep and... and... lazy, all afternoon, just glad Ilya had a good nap.
Shane's frowning in mild confusion at him. "Why?" he says, genuinely not seeing the problem. "You were napping, it was nice. I mean, if I'd needed to pee or something I'd have got up but I was fine." He reaches out and smoothes some of Ilya's hair down. "Oh, the pasta. We can do that tomorrow, we have all that salad from lunch and rolls and there's peaches if we want dessert."
Ilya must have responded somehow because Shane beams at him and says, "Cool, I'll go set the table if you want to go wash your face." He smirks and pokes at Ilya's cheek. "Got a little drool there." And then he smacks a kiss on Ilya's head, gets up, and trots over to the kitchen while Ilya just sits there reeling.
Anyway it's really important to me that Shane dismantles all of Ilya's awful self-talk about laziness.
"we detected a mature post" yeah I'm in my 30s

This Dan Piraro comic always makes me cry.
When I lived in London there was a murder of crows that lived near me. I fed them often, they brought me presents (shiny rubbish and cigarette butts they found on the floor to thank me.)
When I moved, Iām certain they understood I was leaving because I had all my stuff and gave them lots of food and compliments.
But, they chased down my friend who lived in the next burrough over. They had recognised that friend with me several times and followed them to their house when they couldnāt find me.
They adopted my friend and it was now my friendās job to bring them snacks and receive the presents.
This was maybe 6-7 years ago.
I visited London last year. Went to see my friend. The crows all not only recognised me, they tracked me down. We got into my friendās flat and not twenty minutes later there was chaos on the balcony.
We open the curtains, the entire fucking murder is there shouting because they wanted to see me.
Crows are the very best birds.
they should invent a laying in your bed all day that is healthy and good for you.

Just finished The Long Game and I donāt quite understand why there was so much hate for Shane because of this book. This book is clearly more Ilya-centric because his entire arc is basically him realizing, apart from that he has depression, that what he was fine with for the last 10 years (i.e. the hiding, the secret relationship), heās actually not fine with anymore.
Do I think itās a bit unfair that he changed a lot of things about himself for Shane while the latter stays in the comfort of his home? Yes. But whatās the alternative though? If Ilya stayed in Boston, he would definitely have a better track record but do you think their relationship wouldāve survived that long distance? Do you think he wouldāve survived that?
Ok, one could say then why couldnāt Shane be the one to move, and to that I say, why should he? Thereās nothing really substantial thatās keeping Ilya in Boston as compared to Shane whose family is in Canada. If it were a battle between Russia or Canada, that I would get.
They were both initially fine with keeping it a secret when they both started being exclusive. In TLG, both of them are still anxious about dealing with the absolute shitshow thatās gonna happen when they come out and reveal their relationship. Itās not just Shane. And hell, they both have moments where they just wanna be done with it and scream on top of their lungs that theyāre fucking in love with each other. Itās just that out of the two of them, Shane is the moreā¦disciplined(?) one. Heās better at sticking to the plan they both agreed onā Ilya goes to Ottawa and get a canadian citizenship, start Irina Foundation, play up their āfriendshipā so that their ārivalryā image slowly dies down, and then retire, reveal their relationship, and get married. For all he knows, heās just sticking to their plan and protecting their relationship and peace.
In this long game theyāre playing, I definitely clocked it even just from Heated Rivalry that Ilya will be the one who cracks first.
So I canāt hate Shane for keeping their secret when Ilya didnāt outright verbalized that he is not fine with it anymore. And once Shane understood that, he immediately went to fix things. He proposed, planned their coming out as well as their wedding. Because thatās the type of person Shane is. Heās only playing this long game because itās what he thought would keep him from not losing Ilya. He had the patience and the grit to stay in the dark for a long time if it means he gets to be with Ilya always.
Sorry for the addition OP but I think there's a weird dynamic with some fans where they take the TV show canon and then read TLG and so they see Ilya's more positive seeming relationship with the Raiders (compared to the Bears, which are described as being hard partiers and with whom Ilya seems to have no intimate friendships) and his close friend Svetlana in Boston and they see it as Ilya having lost so much, and Shane ignoring it.
But book!Ilya says the Bears kind of sucked. He genuinely likes the Centaurs a lot more. Book!Ilya doesn't have childhood friend Svetlana, she's just an old hookup he likes better than most because she's Russian and knows puck. Book!Ilya wasn't leaving behind anything in Boston other than his career.
Which is a lot! Obviously! But it's a calculation book!Ilya makes very deliberately.
The book spells this all out pretty clearly too. The conflict Ilya has in TLG is he doesn't know how to be in relationships---platonic, romantic, AND familial. He doesn't know how to express his needs to Shane. He doesn't know how to build intimacy with friends. And he doesn't know to be part of a family dynamic. He learns each of these over the course of the book, with the help of his therapist.
Shane's shittiest moment in TLG is when he accuses Ilya of just slacking off and smoking weed, but if we think about it from Shane's perspective for a hot minute, this is when Shane's out to the Voyageurs and things are pretty obviously not going well, based on how fast stuff falls apart after the leak. Shane's developing an eating disorder and Ilya won't stop bitching at him about his diet, he's worried about Ilya but Ilya won't talk to him, he's (in his mind) running out of time to acheive his career goals with his 30th bearing down on him.
Whereas (from Shane's perspective) Ilya is having a ball on the Centaurs. He's throwing fun Halloween parties. His house smells like marijuana. He's going to gay bars with his hot gay available teammate Troy Barrett. He doesn't seem to care that the team loses constantly even though wasn't it hockey that they fell in love over? Doesn't he miss competing with Shane? Why won't he talk to him?
So Shane's over here like "I thought we were doing this together for our careers and you're fucking around and having fun. And now you're asking me to put our whole plan in jeopardy for what, a party? What the fuck?"
Anyway my point being that I don't think either of them are in the wrong they just don't know how to communicate because they don't know how to be in a relationship because they're barely adults and have never done any of this before and they're doing it under the most stressful possible conditions. I love how Yuna says she's proud of them because really it is a miracle what they manage to do and how they manage to love each other despite everything. Or not a miracle, they fucking work for it.
I think Shane has more screentime and positive interactions with various Montreal players (and certainly more numerous players - Hayden and JJ, but also Miity and Andropov the Canadian-accented Russian-named ginger guy) than Ilya does with Boston players, but yet the fanon is the other way around.
Hopefully in s2 Bood and Wyatt get some screen time early on and people fall in love with the Centaurs.

@muffinlance ās Salvage was the first big ATLA fic I read, effectively launching me into this fandom head- first. It feels right to pick this series back up with a grumpy little Zuko fawning over the albatross-pigeons and pretending heās not.
i do truly believe that the centaurs hand troy the aux he plays one song and ilya has to go over to him and be like this is the saddest song i have ever heard and i lived in russia for eighteen years. and hazy is like just out of curiosity how many days during the past two weeks have you had thoughts like
