California quail
California quails are small ground dwelling birds that live primarily in western North America. They are popular game birds that can also be kept as pets under certain restrictions. They have a conservation status of Least Concern.
so I'm just watching this video about a guy who proved that birds talk using actual words, sentences and grammar (not just "alarm call" and "mating call") etc. and this comment chain. they named them. the birds named them I'm crying
