Propaganda: "Brilliant in different areas, but rejected by society for his appearance. The guy's ultimate dream was just normal life. Also interesting to read about: wild and unpredictable."

Summer 2026 Event: Reverse Bang

Hi everyone! For the event this summer, I want to try to run a reverse bang. The way the event will work is that artists will create a sketch, writers will be paired with that artist, and the final event will be a finished piece of art with a short story based on that sketch.

Event Schedule:

Artist can start working now

9 June - Form opens for artists to submit sketches and a short blurb.

22 June - Artist's form closes. I'll put together a presentation of sketches and blurbs.

26 June - Writer's form opens - sign up and rank your choice of sketches.

3 July - Matches sent out

10 July - Artists and writers must have contacted each other and discussed the work. I will check in to confirm.

14-21 Aug - Posting week! All works should be posted no earlier than 14 Aug, and no later than 21 Aug.

Guidelines:

Final art must include clean lines and recognizable characters (either to the show or the books). Backgrounds and full rendering not necessary. If you are doing traditional art, please provide high-quality scans or photos.

Fic must be between 2000 and 7000 words.

You may submit multiple pieces of art, or sign up for multiple fics! You will also be able to sign up as a pitch-hitter.

Both artists and writers, respect each other's Do Not Wants and spoilers. Fic and art should not require familiarity with other fanworks.

Do not publicly post any part of your art or fic before the posting date.

If you need to drop out for any reason, or if there is any kind of conflict, let me know as soon as you can! If a writer drops out, I will try to set their artist up with a pitch-hitter.

All participants must have a tumblr account. Final works must be posted on tumblr and tagged #wheel of time reverse bang.

For those that don’t know, a Reverse Bang involves an artist creating a piece of fanart, then being paired with a writer who writes a ~2k - 7k fic based on that fan art! So it works the opposite of a normal Big Bang, and has a lower word count.

The reason I ask about multiple pieces is to get an approximate sense of how I might end up pairing people off (e.g., one artist makes two pieces, each with their own writer). Answering this poll does not obligate you to anything, just getting a general sense of people’s interest and capacity.
