Hi there!

I keep forgetting to make a little intro post, but now that I have more followers on here I figured I should get around to it! especially since I’m kind of a luddite and I can’t be assed to figure out how to make a caard or whatever.

 I’m Heidi (she/they), and up until like February of this year I was mostly a traditional nature artist. But to get myself out of a long ass artblock, I taught myself how to draw people/clones and now I’m a Star Wars fanartist! I also do some writing on the side, including poetry, creative nonfiction, and fanfiction, but I haven’t published any of my fics here or on ao3 yet.

My favorite Star Wars subject to draw is the clones, especially Cody and my boy Fives. I have a few ocs but haven’t done much art of them yet (again, because i only started drawing people/fanart in February and i’ve been super busy with work recently so i don’t have as much time to draw as i’d like). I also love drawing Togrutas and incorporating landscapes and plants into my fanart! 

My inbox is open if y’all wanna talk to me or ask me anything, but since I’m so busy i am not currently doing art trades or commissions at all :(

I love reading poetry! some of my favorite poets are Joy Harjo, Simon Ortiz, Sasha Banks, Diane di Prima, Mary Oliver, Emily Dickinson, and Rebecca Elson.

Astronomy (NOT to be confused with astrology dear god please). I used to teach astronomy programs at a science center I worked at, and I currently work part-time for a local astronomy tour company and love it!

All things outdoors - hiking, river running, slacklining, camping, backpacking, etc. 

Gardening and foraging for wild edible and medicinal plants!  

Lastly: 

I’m anticapitalist, antiracist, antifascist, and politically aligned with anarchism. 

Black lives matter and we need to return Indigenous lands to Indigenous people. 

I do not under any circumstances take shit from TERFS, homophobes, islamophobes, ableists, or whitewashing apologists.

I had a dream last night that andor season two came out but instead of the usual star wars music, the soundtrack was all ABBA and olivia newton-john and other 70s bops. could not get over how much I wanted it to be real, so I slapped an ABBA song over an old video I made and rearranged the clips :)

in legends palpatine wrote this book of monsters about sith creations and included an entry for darth vader, and described the amount of joy he got from turning a nine year old into a war machine. the entry ends with maybe the most chilling line in anything even star wars adjacent, where palpatine says, "given the opportunity to create vader again, i would, and with glee," or thereabouts. the entire entry is haunting, but that final line is completely fucking chilling; palpatine is the ultimate, insidious force, and no matter how long it took, how difficult it was, or what anakin did to him, palpatine wouldn't have stopped. even after being killed by vader, palpatine would still go back and do it all over again, even if it ended in vader killing him. palpatine - famous for the ways he's attempted to cheat death - would risk it all just for the joy of curbstomping a nine year old's soul into hell one more time. and this is just something that exists that we can all read

SPOILERS FOR SKELETON CREW FINALE

Can hardly form thoughts right now but like… that was such a good finale. Jod’s backstory not justifying who he became was so good. Wim growing and being underestimated because of that, but not letting that make him ashamed of who he was was so good. Neel finding out at what point he thinks violence becomes worth it was so good. Fern both taking charge but acknowledging when she really needs help was so good. The imagery of KB pouring out on a HUGE pile of gold but all of the kids just screaming for her was SO GOOD.

It’s an exploration of home. It’s a reminder that good people are everywhere. It’s hopeful but does not excuse the neglect and violence of those in power. You can be good. No matter what, you can be good. Jod got so many chances over and over, and he chose not to change. But so many people chose to change. So many people chose to be better. I think maybe I needed that right now.

Really fascinated by this detail--a pretty big deal is made out of the pirates at the space port being like, "Where did you get real Old Republic credits??" and wanting to steal them from the kids, but that doesn't look like the pre-Empire symbol of the prequels' Republic, and I'm hesitant to say it might be a High Republic symbol, because that is more of a peacock-style crest (assuming there's not a separate one for the Republic at that time), but I'm wondering if it's not Old Republic Old Republic. Like a thousand+ years ago Old Republic. It's pretty safe to say that At Attin has been "lost" to the greater galaxy, the legends about it at the spaceport, the illegality of space ships on the planet, knowledge of the Jedi hasn't been repressed, the deliberate feel of the planet being in another place and time, the "barrier" that hides the planet, etc. but how far back was it "lost", is the real question. The supervisor does refer to them being part of the "Great Work", so maybe it is a High Republic tie-in, to Lina Soh's Great Works, the phrasing seems pretty deliberate! But it would be interesting to consider if it's even further back than that, if this is a gentle set-up of Star Wars wanting to go further back in the timeline (the origins of the Jedi movie that's coming out in a couple of years, the teasing of redoing KOTOR, etc.) because I think that might be where Disney is setting their direction next. The post-Empire era did a lot for them with their live action shows and even this show is set in the post-Empire era (Jon Watts confirmed this), but they did a similar thing with the prequels-era books, putting in little hints and details about The High Republic before it launched. Possibly we're seeing something being set-up for diving into the Old Republic in the future. (It's probably the High Republic. But I'm holding out hope, because I think the Old Republic would be a fun era to explore!)
