Do you think Tomura is a yandere?
Okay, this might be controversial in this fandom but… no. I don’t think Shigaraki is, or would be, a yandere. I do think it’s fun to write or read about Yandere!Shigaraki in fanfic. But I feel like that’s not how canon Shigaraki would be at all. At least not since he matured.
My main reasoning for this is that he seems to place a lot of value on the personal freedom of those he cares about. He repeatedly says he wants the League to be free to live however they want. Doing “whatever they want” is almost like a motto for them. So I can’t see him wanting to keep someone he loves all to himself or being possessive at all, actually. He wouldn’t want to restrict their freedom. I do think he would get attached easily, would maybe even get jealous from time to time, but I don’t think he would express those feelings in a yandere fashion. He’s actually pretty good at expressing his feelings, so I think he would more likely just talk to his lover about whatever he’s feeling and deal with it openly.
Maybe before he matured, like in season 1 or 2, he would be more likely to display some yandere tendencies. He did seem to view his comrades more as tools at that point so he could have treated his lover like a possession. I can see that. So I enjoy fanfics about him being a yandere much more if they’re set around that time. They make a lot more sense to me.
