“Chase!”

Minori ran over to the blonde in her volleyball uniform with a smile and two fingers in a V-shape held in the air. She stopped once she was in front of him, catching her breath from the extra bit of exercise after the game the team just had.

“We won, we won!”

Her hand came down to then poke him square in the center of his chest, her smile still holding its place. He had some choice words about her ability to play despite being the captain and it felt real good to prove him wrong.

“Of course as the captain it was all thanks to my calls and the points I scored. Including the first and last point~ So as always, you’re wrong!”

      【☘】~ “Heh, alright! Lessee…” Trailing off, Fritz puts his hands to his hips as he leans back and stares up at the ceiling, wracking his brain for an appropriate bet. “Got it–” Dropping his head, he flashes her a grin. “If I win, you have to tell everyone how totally cool and awesome and handsome I am for a whole day! I wanna walk down the halls and be met with all sorts of gushing and praise!”

       He winks playfully. “And who better to spread the word than my biggest fan, Little Miss Minori Rees~? ♪”

Minori feigned admiration and placed a hand on her heart.

“As if I don’t tell them that already.”

She dropped the act and her confident smile returned. His bet was alright, but she wanted hers to be better. If she won, she needed to have him do something that would make her day- no, week. No, even better... Her life!

“And if I win, you,”

She placed an index finger to her lip in thought.

“Have to follow me around like a personal butler for a whole day! Weekend preferred so that your classes don’t get in the way. Deal?”

A hand was outstretched for him to shake.

Klaus could not help but softly chuckle into his hand, it was nice to see her well-jovial– and filled with life. Though her calling him dad was both a blessing and a curse from now on. The man knew it, the students knew it. And despite Minori’s warnings- people are people and they’ll find their way around things. “Thank you my dear, now take a seat-” such a slip of the tongue for such endearing words, but Fitzgerald appreciated the sentiment greatly. “If any of you students dare to call me father, I promise you– I’ll send you to time out.” The whole class burst out into laughter, I mean who wouldn’t? With such a ridiculous warning as that. Fitzgerald smoothly diffused the situation and carried on with his botany class. Figuring out what and where did most of these students left off. Getting to know them a little, and when finally the class bell rung– he wondered if it were out of line to talk to his daughter for just a moment.  “Minori.” 

As the class continued on after her enthusiastic introduction, she sat with her elbows on the desk and her chin resting in her palms. There was never a class that she paid this much attention in until now and it was all thanks to one amazing man in her own opinion. Though she couldn’t see how even one person would disagree with her after meeting him. Just like any other daddy’s girl, Klaus was the best (and lamest) guy she knew.

“Dad.”

She responded back, walking to his desk once the bell rang to dismiss the students. A momentary pause followed as she waited for the class to empty out and once they were the only two in the room, a large, bright smile pulled at the ends of her lips.

“What are you doing here?!”

「 The weekends fast approached and with Halloween over, so were the different sales and promos that came along with it! There were a few stores that went out of their way to extend it for the weekends and that was all Georgia needed to know before asking a few friends out. Taking out her phone, she punched in a few keys and threw out an invite to two girls she’s been meaning to ask out for a nice day out. They certainly weren’t pigs, but who doesn’t love a discounted buffet?」

      【❧】~ As it often was, Rosetta’s nose had been deep into her Stats textbook when she receives a text on her phone. Normally, she tried not to touch her phone until she was done with her homework, but she had been stuck on the one problem for a while, and she really, really needed a break from it. Otherwise, she just might flip her book – or her whole desk, maybe – in frustration. 

       Pulling her phone towards her, Rosetta opens up the messages to see one sent from Georgia. Even through text she could feel the other girl’s enthusiasm, hear her voice even, and with a fond smile, she responds.

Minori was mid-practice when she heard her phone vibrate from the bleachers inside the gym. The girls had been playing for awhile now and all too curious about who was texting her at this time, she let the team members take a fifteen minute break. That, and it wasn’t good for the body to practice and exercise constantly. It needed rest.

Walking to the benches and wiping the small amount of sweat from her forehead with a small towel that rested across her shoulders, she pulled out her phone from her back and checked her messages.

It was Georgia and Rosetta.

Raeger sighed. Today wasn’t any different than most days. At least that’s what he thought. He sat in his last class waiting for the students to be free so they could be free for the weekend. It was such a nice day, why be cooped up here when it’s so nice outside? He stared at the clock counting down second by second.

He never thought he would be so happy to hear the same dull bell that dismissed them for the day. Raeger was already packed up like some of his other classmates and joined the other flock of students. Heh. Kind of like a group of wild animals running amok. 

Raeger whipped out his phone and noticed he had a text from one of his best friends from back home. 

[Lil’ Minnow]: Nothing much, just got out of class, u?

[Raevioli]: Is that so? Then come help me move!

Minori looked at her phone for a moment longer before she placed it in her back pocket and re-positioned how she was carrying all of her bags to maximize comfort. Maybe it’s best that she waits by the front office? It was obvious that Raeger wouldn’t show up right away since he didn’t know she was here, but it was better than wandering around with a numerous amount of luggage.

       【☘】~ Fritz wore his trademark grin as he headed towards the gym. And if something about it seemed especially brighter that day, it definitely wasn’t a trick of the eyes. He was excited, plain and simple, and there was no hiding it. 

       Why? Because he was gonna play a good ‘ol fashioned game of B-Ball with one of his bestest buds! Unlike Raeger, Minori was more into athletics like Fritz, and the two of them often liked to compete with one another, always playing some sort of game or sport with a friendly bet attached. 

       Today was just another one of those days, Fritz’s own bet already in mind as he pushed open the doors to the gym. At Minori’s greeting, he meets her game face with a silly one of his own, a cocky grin spreading across his features as he walks deeper into the room.

       “Yoooo, Mino.” He raises his hand up in a wave, chuckling, “And c’mon, you make it sound like I’m super late! If you ask me, you came just a little too early…” He trails off with a shake of the head, eyes sparkling with excitement as he lifts it to meet her gaze. 

       “So, you ready? And do you wanna make bets now, or…?”

Minori flipped her hair off her shoulder and flashed a confident smile in his direction.

“Of course I’m ready, and let’s bet now. Don’t want to make any lame ones after seeing the results.”

Basketball may not have been her strongest sport, but she had played enough to be pretty good at it. It helped that Fritz, a player on the academy’s basketball team, had taught her a few moves and tricks on the court. Let’s see if it’ll backfire on him today.

She was nowhere near her skill level when it came to volleyball, yet, that didn’t stop her from enjoying a friendly competition. This would also help her strengthen her skills and techniques for future games and could even allow her to play a second sport if she wished to.

“You can name your terms first.”

Feeling a tad bit sore from falling face-flat to the ground, Komari then turned her head as far as she could manage to face the familiar voice. Mmm. Delicious leaves.

“Meh-noooo-riiiiiiiii? Wadd ya ar doooin’ out heeer?” Komari spoke with several maple leaves stuck inside her mouth. She probably should spit them out. “Pttooouh!!” It felt much better to rid of those leaves. They were kinda sweet though. The tomboy then tried to gather herself up and reached out for Minori’s assistance. Finally she was on her footing again, dusting the leaves off of her clothes as well. 

“Thank you.” She really was grateful, and yet Komari was laughing her nerves off from the embarrassment. Scratching her head, she replied. “ Yeah thanks! Good thing they don’t understand Japanese—Wait.” She rapidly blinked.

“You knew what I just said?!  Shit– I mean!!! Oh no, I’m sorry!! It just kinda slipped out and uh-” Now she was stumbling on her words, great. This was much more humiliating than the small trail of blood that was slowly dripping down the tomboy’s forehead. If Komari’s father ever caught her saying something so….unladylike like this, it would break his heart.

What a funny girl Komari was talking with a mouth full of leaves, not spitting them out immediately. It made Minori laugh when she offered a hand for the short-haired brunette to take to help her stand on her own two feet.

“No problem~”

Minori laughed again at Komari’s stumbling. She really was a funny girl.

“It’s not that big of a deal, Koma. Relax!”

She opened her mouth to say something else when she noticed a small trickle of blood on her friend’s forehead. Her eyes widened and she grabbed the other by her hand and without hesitation began pulling her to the nurse’s office.

“But before you relax too much, let’s get you cleaned up! Wouldn’t want an infection, would you?”

Right after soccer practice, Kyle skipped out on hanging out with the usual squad and left early. It’s not that he doesn’t like hanging out with them, he does! But sometimes people needed a break even from the people they liked.

To end the day, he found himself jogging around campus for that one last effort to exhaust himself. He passed by the usual buildings, then the gym, and a ball exiting the gym… “Huh?”

He stared at a rolling volleyball that escaped from the gym’s doors. Soon enough he heard someone complain about it and a quick peak inside the gym tells him people were cleaning up and this one got away. “I can get it for you! Need a hand?”

Even before he got an answer, Kyle already ran after the stray ball that escaped but instead of picking it up with his hands, he juggled the volleyball like a soccer ball before tossing it up, eventually catching it with his head first, then his hands.

“If you girls don’t clean up right this time, I’m making you do ten extra laps during tomorrow’s practice.”

Minori had grown tired of hearing the coach, who knew little about the sport as it was, complain about the organizational skills of the team members. The junior agreed with the blonde as many of these girls were unorganized and unkempt, but she wished that Ms.Devereaux told the entire team and not only her. Minori was extrememly organized herself, so the complaints and criticisms only made her more annoyed.

Upon hearing the sighs, grumbles, and mumbles from some of the teammates, the brunette already knew someone was going to mess up. What better time to do things when then when a person is upset and doesn’t want to do the tasked assigned? As if she really knew it was going to happen, Minori watched as someone went to place a numerous amount of volleyballs, which obviously weren’t all going to fit, into the ball cart’s basket. In a matter of seconds, the girl dropped the balls into the crate and yelled in frustration as they bounced off each other and right out of the basket.

With a sigh, Minori followed the one that rolled its way out of the gym, where she saw a redhead chase after it and juggle it like a soccer ball before holding it in his hands.

“Wrong sport.”

She chuckled and offered a smile.

“Thank you for getting it.”

At least she looked to be in good health, that was a relief. A soft gentle smile escaped his lips as this was thankful for such the touching reunion, despite its unorthodox setting. Which that reminded him– as the kids were already giggling like they do– to carry on with the class.  “Good to have you here.”

Klaus neither wanted to confirm or deny the the alleged commentary that she claimed. It wasn’t that she was wrong, it’s just Fitzgerald was trying to put out any possible fires before chaos ensued. And yet, the wolf would want to protect his child from any harm. Sigh…  So might as well take the bullet. He slowly paces around the room, arms behind his back- with his shoes clinking on the floorboard. “I’m sure you guys are just as surprised as I am, to have find that their student be their precious offspring- but be well aware, I won’t be giving you guys extra credit favors for being friendly with her. I hope you know, child or not, I shall treat you all as equals in the classroom.” Klaus finally stops and turns his face towards to his daughter again, with a cheekiness grin that somehow makes the old father look younger. “ Would you care to introduce yourself to me and the class, Miss Rees?”

Equals? Minori wondered if she was included on that statement, but decided it would be best to ask him about that later. When she heard the answer she hoped for, which was “of course, you’re above them in my eyes, sweetheart,” she wanted to make sure no one else could overhear it. It would cause real trouble for her, not that it wouldn’t be anything she couldn’t handle. There may or may not have been worse before.

With two fingers in the shape of a V resting gently on her head and a smile, she spoke.

“You all already know me, name’s Minori Rees! I’m a junior, volleyball captain, and Mr. Fitzgerald is my dad, so don’t expect me to call him the same way you will.”

She eyed everyone and as her eyes traced the room from left to right, an index finger followed to point at each of the students.

“I don’t want to hear any of you call him dad or we might have some problems.”

@minoriii Ever since he had sent his daughter out to this academy many moons ago, Klaus has had selfish wishes for himself to go there as well. There was something comforting knowing your child was in a safe environment, but that sense of comfort expanded in tenfold while he knew he could be around Not that he doubted that Minori couldn’t defend herself, or stand her own ground- for he taught her many ways of self defense and told her to never give into pressure and stray from her own path. Klaus was well aware she grew up to become her own person and he was awfully proud of his cub, if there was anything he had done right in his life– it was her.  Naturally he felt a lot of remorse for always being a spotty existence in her life, and had spent every lulled moment he had thinking if she ever resented him for that. The man knew he wasn’t the best father in the world, but he knew that he would do everything in his power to be better than his own. So when Mr. Fitzgerald was presented with the opportunity to teach at the academy, after many years of travels and practice- he was personally elated by the news of it. He wanted to tell his daughter himself once he had finished his classes for the day, a nice surprise- perhaps take her out for ice cream or anything. Maybe show her his condo, anything- just anything. It almost feels like he was given a second chance and he wanted to make the best of it. Naturally respecting any space she may need though. It was the third class of the day and Klaus was doing his all-too-well rehearsed lectures and formalities for this group of students. Told what the students needed to know about himself, and what he will be teaching for the year. Mr. Fitzgerald decided to make things into a game while his students introduced themselves. Learnt about some of their hobbies, what they like doing and–he noticed there was a student in the back not really paying attention. There was a sense of familiarity with her, until he took a second glance and it nearly stopped him in his tracks. “ Minori?” Doesn’t this school realize that he’s her father? Perhaps it was an easy error to have done that, considering they both have different last names and all. He was pleasantly surprised that she was here, but already knew that he couldn’t just play favorites in the classroom. Even if it were his daughter.

Class was a bore as always and with a new teacher coming in today, the first couple of minutes after the bell were a free-for-all for all the students in the class. Chattering echoed through the room as did the sounds of clicking and tapping as they all had their founds out and on, contrary to classroom policies. But there was no teacher so who cared, right?

Minori sat at her desk but faced the back of the classroom talking to the group of teenagers behind her. The month of October was a busy one for the school and everyone was coordinating outfits for the events and already making plans for the winter break. When the time turned for Minori to talk about her plans, she wasn’t exactly sure. She hadn’t seen her dad in awhile and when she thought about going home, there was the possibility that he wouldn’t be there. There was no doubt in her mind that if she called, he would make time for her, but she didn’t want to mess up his work schedule. She was older now and realized that the times she would ask him to take off when she was younger impacted his work and could have potentially been part of the reason of why he left so often.

Usually as she spoke, it would go uninterrupted - she could ignore any extra person who wasn’t invited into the conversation. But this time... It was different. The voice that rang out her name sounded all too familiar and caught her attention like someone who rang a bell for a dog. And just as quickly as the dog would have turned, Minori did.

“Dad!”

Not even thinking about the words that left her mouth, she stood up at her desk, hands resting on the top with a beaming smile. She wasn’t like most kids who might have been embarrassed about their parent working at the school they were attending. No, she was the opposite. She was ecstatic to be able to have him around more.

Back-up Plan || Minori and Molly

Despite it being this far into October (with only four days to go until her birthday, she considered it late by her own standards), Molly had yet to do anything to mark the glorious occasion that was the month of Halloween–not to say she hadn’t tried. She had mixed up a huge batch of fake blood, but apparently her last school warned the academy and they had caught her in the act of filling lockers with “water balloons”, prepped to fall out and coat unsuspecting losers in what was mostly corn syrup.

Apparently, her attempt to cause confusion and run away by smashing a handful of the balloons off the ground and yelling SCATTER! hadn’t been appreciate either. It also hadn’t worked.

She thought it was funny though–laughed it up all detention long.

That said, this all did mean she had to come up with something simpler and “more school appropriate” to do, which as a load of bullcrap and had only resulted in the purchase of a $60 confetti canon, funded partially by scam money, partially by selling the usual, and mostly by complaining to both her parents that the other wouldn’t help her until they both did. Suckers.

She had leaned towards penis confestti, pretty heavily too, but decided to stick with the season and got confetti in the shape of pumpkins and tiny lil skulls that she was honestly in love with and a metric fuckton of black and orange glitter, which were first improperly loaded into the cannon causing a really big problem in her dorm, corrected, then reloaded and set up a few feet away from a classroom door, prepped to go.

She’d kidnapped a pair of safety goggles from a science glass, since she was worried about getting glitter into her eyes if this went wrong, and when combined with the canon and her white cardigan, it gave her this sort o mad scientist vibe and she was honestly digging it.

The bell rang, the door swung open, Molly prepped and waiting.

And then, without so much as blinking, she slammed down onto the power button as a small handful of kids came out of the room, completely surrounding them in the devil’s colorful mixture.

Class was a bore, but what was new, and Minori stared at the clock in the classroom for the last fifteen minutes. She spun her pencil between her fingers as she tuned out the teacher, retaining none of the information leaving their lips. It was unnecessary, this class was too easy and she knew she didn’t have to show up to pass. Too bad attendance was mandatory.

“Finally!”

The bell rang and the students began to file out of the classroom, despite the famous words “the bell doesn’t dismiss you, I dismiss you”. Blah, blah, blah. Was all that ran through her mind as she packed up her things and caught up with her group of friends just before they walked out the door. Maybe she should have let them leave first...

“Ah!”

Suddenly she was surrounded by... confetti? Spitting out the pieces that fell in her mouth when she yelped during the surprise attack, Minori brushed off the ones that stuck to her clothing.

“What the-?!”

Dying | Open

If his counselor was going to require him to take a sport, Sebastian figured, why not track and field? All you had do was fucking run. It seemed like the perfect solution. No teamwork, no complicated rules, no “spirit” crap jammed down your throat. An elegant plan. At first. But there was one thing, one thing that Sebastian overlooked:

You had to fucking run. 

Feet hit the pavement with dull thuds. He could feel warm blood rushing beneath his skin as the choppy wind smacked against his face. 

This was total bullshit. The coach had been calling him in almost every day after classes. For “practice” or whatever. Didn’t she know that all this exercise dipped into Sebastian’s very precious free time, in which he spent–

…

Doing stuff. Sebastian Reed had a very full schedule of doing stuff and things. 

Cold oxygen sent chills through his body. It crept into his lungs and seemed to stay there long after he exhaled. This was how people got pneumonia. Sebastian liked imagining the look on his counselor’s face, after she found out the forced extracurricular literally killed him. By the time he finished his first lap, his cheeks and nose were twinged with red. The hoarse coughs became more frequent until he finally paused to double over, hands on knees. 

Good goddess, let him catch his breath and he’ll swear he’ll never touch another cigarette again–

Grey eyes lifted and met with another pair. Someone was watching. Great. Swallowing thickly, Sebastian straightened again. Long fingers lifted and raked the hair off his sweaty forehead. He wanted to make sure nothing obstructed the glare now sent in the person’s direction.

“Take a picture, it’ll last longer.”

At the same time everyday after all of the classes have ended, each sport team had their own practice routine that the members were required to attend. For the volleyball team, that required a mix of various exercises like running, crunches, and drills.

“Let’s go girls! One, two, one, two, one, two!”

As captain, Minori found it imperative to constantly and consistently support her teammates, but also keep them on track. It happens more often than not that around the couple of miles they run in the day, a lot of the girls tend to slack off and talk more than run. It was obvious when it came to practice or an actual game and they couldn’t keep up, becoming easily winded.

"Alright, let’s take a break.”

She grabbed her water bottle and waved the girls to go do the same or take this time to relax and catch their breath. After all, constant exercise wasn’t good for the body. At times like this, Minori usually stood on the higher ground of the fields and watched the other teams who were out with them. It was good to pick up tips on team building and also to see what not to do. A lot of the time some activities people planned didn’t work as they originally thought and she didn’t want to make the same mistake. There wasn’t much time in a season and she didn’t want to waste any.

During this time, her eyes fell upon another student with his hands on his knees. He didn’t look too good. Grabbing an extra water bottle and a small towel that she kept around, she made her way to him.

“I think I’m good, but thanks. How about you just take these? You look like you can use them.”

Minori’s plans to attend the renaissance faire as a princess revolved around Raeger and Fritz keeping their word to be a knight and a prince. Of course she had no doubt that they would go through with it and that made her all the more excited about it. She looked at the dress on her bed with a smile and nodded to herself. 

“Yep, this is perfect! I can’t wait to see everyone else~”

And now with the addition of Komari, Minori had another person to drag around in her perfectly themed group!

‘Can’t wait for summer break’. Amanda sighed in despair, hearing the bell signaling the student to get the hell out of the classrooms, and go do their after school activities. ‘Tch, what a drag’.Amanda stood up from her seat, waving good bye to her classmates and exiting the class.

‘This sucks…” All she wanted to do was go home… Eat, watch TV, talk to Lillie and taking off this damn make up and hair ties. Holy shit was this uncomfortable as fuck. The shit she does just to fit in.

Without realizing, Amanda had bumped shoulders with a stranger. ‘Tch, watch it dweeb’.  “I’m sorry, are you alright?” Her thoughts didn’t match her words. ‘Please say yes so I can leave.’

Both in their own little worlds, Minori didn’t realize that she was walking straight into another person. She was too busy thinking about the food she had in her dorm and what else she could get Raeger to make before the kitchen was closed to student use for the day.  An important plan to have thought out before he shows up or he’ll get a chance to deny her offer. No, not again. Not this time.

“Amanda! I’m fine.”

Minori smiled and patted down the collar of her shirt. She knew Amanda from volleyball and always hoped to get closer to all of her teammates, but not close in this way.

“Are you okay?”

Ah, Autumn. It was Komari’s favorite season of the year. Not because every person’s favorite drink was pumpkin spice, or the fun, whimsical decorations of Halloween- which was very fun within itself– but it was more so the fact that everything was turning into her favorite colors. All these red and yellow hues, in betwixt and in between of varied shades- were adoring the very trees she passed each day to class, their leaves making crunching noises on her feet. The scenery made it so easy to get lost with them. It kind of reminded her of home. Komari pondered and lulled on the thought of her hometown, Tsuyukusa. Was her father taking care of himself? Were her friends okay? Did her mother even bother to check on her dad? She could only hope for the best while being ever so far away, it was no use to her to over stress on it and waste too much energy in these thoughts. So she started to hum on the cobblestone paths, with a little hop and a skip with her hands behind her back. It was a way to keep her entertained. Unfortunately, the girl did not pay enough attention to her steps, ( She was never much of a dancer. ) and ended up falling face flat to the ground.

“K-Kuso!” She exclaimed, not really thinking on how unladylike her choice of words sounded. The rocks were thankfully not as sharp though she was sure she had a few cuts and bruises on her knees and chin. At least the autumn air smelled fantastic from down here.

“The coast is clear.”

She whispered to herself while looking around the corners to make sure no one was watching. Minori had quietly walked out of the karate room after sneaking in for a one-woman practice in order to keep her strength up. She needed to practice regularly but, unfortunately, there wasn’t enough room in her schedule for it with her other classes.

“Komari?!”

Minori had walked out of the building just in time to hear the brunette yell and watch her face plant onto the ground. She ran up to her and offered a hand to help her up.
