Is there a fic in which Jiang Cheng just leaves Lotur Pier after the complete shit show that happened in chapter 56 (part 1) of the novel? You know, the one where Madam Yu and Jiang Fengmian are at it again? But before Wei Wuxian had the chance to catch up with him? The Two Pride of Yunmeng discussion never happens, no promises are made and Jiang Cheng decides that “this is it, I can’t take it anymore” and he just leaves because the Yunmeng Jiang Sect deserves the best, someone who understands the sect motto and obviously, that’s not him. So he just leaves a note for his father, telling him that now that he’s gone, he can make Wei Wuxian his heir like he always wanted to. And he apologies for not being good enough. He even leaves his silver bell and doesn’t say goodbye either to his sister nor Wei Wuxian because they would try to stop him. He’s just so tired of everything, tired of trying his best but always falling short, tired of his parents hating each other, of never being able to meet anyone’s expectations. Also, he thinks his parents use him as another excuse to go at each other. He doesn’t care if people call him a coward for it. So despite his love for Lotus Pier and his family, he leaves everything behind. He’s definitely not as good looking as the Lan of Gusu, he’s plain and unremarkable and without his Sect’s clothes, nobody recognizes him and somehow, it proves his point even more. He goes on night hunts, he always keeps trying to prove his worth as a rogue cultivator. It goes on for months until he finally meets someone who knew him from before, someone is supposed to be missing too. It’s Lan Xichen but though he acts like he doesn’t recognize Jiang Cheng, the truth is he does but doesn’t want to scare him away.

I NEED THIS SO MUCH BUT I CAN’T WRITE FOR SHIT. PLEASE, SOMEONE, MAKE IT HAPPEN.
