Anger is so successfully sublimated that girls lose the ability to understand what it feels and looks like. Is her heart racing? Does she feel flushed or shaky? Does she clench her jaws at night? Is she breaking out in hives? Does she cry for no reason? Laugh inappropriately during difficult conversations? Fly off the handle over something that seems inconsequential? You can see where I’m going here…those crazy girl hormones, right? Better to just think of it as a phase.

For too many women, however, the phase never ends. It’s lives spent never expressing anger at all and believing that they don’t have the right or ability to do so without great risk.

*ACTUALLY There’s a lot of things we can do to protect our people to help prevent another tragedy from happening 1. Actually require strict background checks FOR ALL GUN purchases 2. If you’re interested in buying a gun, go through a mandatory mental health screening - any signs or symptoms that point to potentially unstable or violent behavior, NO GUNS 2b. Actually make mental health care affordable for all and for those without insurance, make it so that all clinics must offer some kind of payment plan or sliding scale to help make it more accessible. 3. Actually enforce gun laws and regulations at gun shows 4. Have popular auction websites and shopping sites ban the transactions of guns and/or ammo 5. Tax the hell out of ammo (specific guns or ammo in general), guns just become a blunt hitting device with no ammo 6. Lift all restrictions on gun violence research for the academic community These are just some examples we can implement to help stop these gun violence cycles from happening over and freaking over again. However, the nra has congress in a stranglehold with funding and the like.

Call your representative and DEMAND CHANGE.

Hey. I live right down the street from this and theyre looking to turn it into a facility for veterans. Theres unfortunately some backlash from the surrounding community, and its hard to see from the pictures but the building sits next to a neighborhood. Its also across the street from an elementary school.

Some people in the neighborhoods are UPSET that this facility will be offering mental health care for veterans. Theyre upset that mentally ill people are going to be coming and going near a school. Most of this is being voiced on the neighborhood forums so I dont have links for it, apologies. 

The nonprofit that is leasing the space for their project still needs donations because the building is vandalized on the inside. Mostly from kids from the surrounding neighborhoods breaking into it. Which I know because I went to school with them. Anyways. Good news, this space is being used to help people who need it. Bad news, people are ableist assholes.

I feel like this is a very important thread considering a lot of people cut Hollywood abusers a lot of slack just because “they’re work is very good and entertaining”. I would like to add that Scarlett Johansson who has worked with Woody Allen said that Dylan Farrow his victim was irresponsible for that letter she wrote, because the actors she confronted in it didn’t have a chance to comment. And she then went on to say that it would be ridiculous to change her relationship with Woody Allen based on Dylan’s accusation because it isn’t like Woody Allen was charged with it, so there was no ‘lifestyle’ to disagree with.
