in summary,
to clicker train someone, you first load the clicker (giving a click then an immediate reward many times until the association is strongly understood), then as part of training a behavior into the subject, you give a click when the subject performs a desired behavior, then you give that reward.
You always use the same reward (or the meaning will be confused). You always give the reward (or the meaning will be confused). You give the click at as close to immediately after the behavior is performed as possible (to clearly denote what is desired).
The purpose of the clicker is to communicate clearly. It does not exist outside of the context of training a subject to do something else. It's a tool, not an end.
