@ruth-dw I was nineteen and Sarcophagus hoisted my heart up by it’s collar and slapped it’s face (whilst also making my chuckle with it’s theatrics in bedsheet robes). In all honesty, though, it is one of my favourites. I was getting some vibes from these two, more or less right after Cally first appeared. I really thought that there was going to be a definately romantic relationship there, or at least heavier implications. They snuck up on me, too, as I did not expect to enjoy their dynamic so much. Now, I am just delighted when they get a moment to themselves. I will forever be slightly bitter that no more really came of their relationship, post-Sarcophagus, at least not explicitly. Sorry to hijack, but I did not want to miss the opportunity to babble about Cally and Avon.

I was young enough to take the theatrics totally seriously, and therefore I still can. However, I saw the massively cut version first, making the theatrics completely impenetrable, and therefore mysterious.

A/C babble is not a hijack here! I too wished for more A/C after Sarcophagus but then took solace from Moloch. One can totally see Avon and Cally being a thing in it, and they were even given time for this - 2 months going to Sardos and back. I should make some A/C Moloch gifs to soothe my heart. Last good time they had before Terminal ruined everything… Still, it could be much worse. It could’ve been ruined by terrible scripts in the beginning of S4. Imagine Cally leaving with Justin! *shudder*. 

@i-fought-space, I love the smiles blog so much because it gives me a Purpose, and an excuse to watch B7 and Avon’s smiles to my heart’s content, all in the name of Science. :) Such a great idea!

I heard the director told Paul to do nothing to that very close-up scene after Blake telling Avon he had always trusted the man. And they received many different reactions like: “You hate the man so much” “You are giving him the affection” “You looked so sad”. I even heard someone said they thought Avon looks stunned and scared towards the gesture of trust, and I thought that was… melancholic emotions slipping through Avon’s mask (like he was being thoughtful or something).

In reality, Avon very likely would just show Blake a “shows nothing” expression. And probably those emotions above were all true: hatred, affection, sorrow, fear, and melancholy.

One of the things which makes him an interesting character to obsess over is the way he goes blank at emotional moments, like he’s processing. It allows both the people around him and the viewers to bring their own interpretations, which are probably all wrong. It is, in part, what leads to the final, fatal, misunderstanding.

Oh, I love this scene so much, this is probably one of my favourite scenes of the entire show. I watched the episode again this afternoon. 

Avon is the one stating the truth of reality to Blake, just like it was his job to do, he looks almost expressionless, but his arms hold Blake. This is a spot-on summary of the character, at least towards the man he holds. (He is stating the truth to the very man because he is always cynical and judging, he is expressionless because that is his persona, he is holding him because that is actually the natural physical response)

Blake subconsciously holds back, it is an emotional gesture of seeking support and possibly, comfort. 

I also love Travis in this episode, I mean– he is crazy and obsessive and cruel but he is competent. (Oh. Never bring a politician to your work place, soldier)

Read an old fic where Jenna just smuggles some weird chemicals onboard the liberator and Vila accidentally put it in the alcohol and it made Blake and Avon acts all weird to each other (it was basically a PWP lol)

But it make me think of how interesting it would be all of the other characters doing their own thing while they are on board the liberator? Jenna just keeps smuggle illegal products, Vila just steals some important gadgets and gems from federation’s base they go, and Avon heck into Federation routine operations system on a daily basis

It would just make their rebellion a more messier lol
