If you use AI on your bookโs cover, people will assume that the inside was created at least in part by AI as well. You will lose readers for it.
Also, it is insulting both to artists, many of whom are perfectly willing to create cover art for considerably cheap or even free, and also to yourself.
Your writing is worth more than that. Your hard work is better than AI in every way shape or form. It may seem the easiest and quickest approach to completing and publishing your manuscript, but it is not worth it.
The easy route is not always the best one.
Please have some pride in your work. Support artists. Support yourself.
Tag yourself as this list of โbad artโ features, according to a twitter fascist
โNever Forgetโ until the new target is those that they disagree with.
Edit: please watch this video essay by Jacob Geller. It speaks on really important points as to how โbad artโ is a weapon of fascism and how it reflects the Degenerate Art Exhibition(s)
writing is so funny because i could write nonstop for 9hrs and then hit a block where im like "how do i transition between this moment and the next?" and then i just dont touch it for 6 months
this website lets you listen to the sounds of all different forests around the worldย
Reblogging again cause I tried this site last night and if you need background noise to focus this is perfect for that, I was locked the fuck in on a task. And itโs also just gorgeous to listen to
Iron Lung and Project Hail Mary as "men who persevere against impossible odds and find courage in the depths of despair"
Versus Obsession and Backrooms "men will willingly stay in a literal horror movie situation over confronting their mistakes and taking responsibility for their actions"

why not have the reader re-read a sentence now and then? it won't hurt him....
I think we are focusing on the wrong thing when talking about mainstream romantasy adult books, instead of shaming straight cis women for reading kinky books, we should tralk about how most of the newer books aimed at that demographic are just conservative propoganda, rebranding patriarchy as a kink.
There's nothing inherently wrong about liking the types of kinks that are present, control, power imbalance, dark themes, but when you really look at the top performing novels (which they are mass prodicing at questionable speeds) it's hard to ignore the ever present morally grey man, who's posessive over the heroine who starts off as otherworldly different from the 'regular woman' aka damsel in distress), is cruel to everyone except her, and the fantasy world revolves around the control of women, especially when it comes to forced pregnancy.
Cannot stress this enough. read broadly, read backlist titles from your library specifically. Libraries are major purchasers and therefore have unusually high influence on what becomes bestselling. read what you want to see rise up in the world.
personal reading taste isn't what OP is talking about. they are talking about what the publishing industry is buying, marketing and selling and how that feeds into hegemonic ideas of "romance", patriarchy and anti-choice propaganda. publishers are businesses and they are not immune to pushing propaganda

oh my god you're all right actually. Langdon SHOULD have gone to jail! forget all the work criminal justice experts and addiction advocates have done to enact diversion program and non-carceral treatment for drug crimes. forget that the field of health care sees this as a disease and commonly replaces punitive action with treatment. we feel in our hearts how important it is to punish people! all he gotโ ten months suspended from work, the near rupturing of his closest relationships as the consequence of his own actions, and a restrictive and paternalistic rehab programโ is just the help he needs! It's easy peasy and that's why rehab programs are so effective and addicts never relapse. It's fun and easy and costs $0. help is always good and never complicated.
he should have been punished. he should have gone to jail! his kids should have lost their dadโ hopefully for years. surely it will be simple and easy for him to rejoin his family after thatโ no, better yet, his wife should leave him, right? so when he comes out with a felony charge and can't work in his field and can't, in fact, find work anywhere, he's on his own. but if she doesn't leave him, his entire family should suffer for the loss of their breadwinner. forever. you're right!
after being forced to do slave labor without access to medical care, the back injury that drove him to pain medications will probably be worse, making it even more difficult to treat his addiction...not to mention the PTSD he's likely to have from prison. but that's good, he needed to be punished! and in twenty years when he dies of an opioid overdose under the sad eyes of a a medical student in the Pitt's ER, we'll all be able to say good, we got one of the bad ones. and isn't that worth any number of innocent lives in the process?
I usually just let smarter people talk about Tumblr's site meta and current events, but speaking as someone who does post my stupid little scribbles here, I don't think the Tumblr update is bad because it's "taking notes away from artists": it's bad because it makes the website more insular. I don't give a shit about my notes count, but I do care about the community aspect. I like seeing what people say in reblogs and tags. Say what you want about the modern Internet favoring aggregate accounts and content mills, I just want to engage with other people. And the update makes it harder to see what people have to say further in the chain when they're doing the normal Tumblr thing of reblogging another person's addition to add their own commentary. Tumblr is good because if I make an original post, I get to see all of the tags and additions. I get to continuously engage in the conversation as people add new things. If someone has a question about something three reblog comments down, I can answer it. Not anymore, apparently.
The collaborative nature of Tumblr is what makes it stand out among other websites. Puts the "social" in "social media", hear?
