if you’re a wlw and you’re not interested in men at all - not sexually, romantically, or platonically - that’s fine. that’s okay, and that’s valid.
if you’re a wlw and you purposefully avoid men when given the option - because you feel uncomfortable or simply because you don’t enjoy their company - that’s fine, and that’s valid. you’re not obligated to “just give men a chance”. as long as you’re decent and respectful, that is totally okay.
if you’re a wlw and sexual attraction between two women still doesn’t feel as real or as valid to you as sexual attraction between a man and a woman, that’s okay. you will. it IS the same and it is valid and you will. you’ll get there. you’ve gotten a long way already, haven’t you?
if you’re wlw and you don’t fully understand your sexuality yet - or like, at all even - that’s okay, and that’s not your fault. most of us don’t understand ours fully either. but we will. you will soon.
Kendrick Lamar used his epic Grammys performance to make a statement about black incarceration
There was no way Kendrick Lamar was going to let his precious few minutes on the Grammys stage slip through his hands without making an impact. Yet, no one could have expected how huge it actually would be. Kendrick Lamar just made history with the most epic, powerful performance of his career at the Grammys. It has to be seen to be believed.
Director says it's time to be inclusive
J.J. Abrams, the director behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens, confirmed that there would be openly gay characters in future franchise installments, according to The Daily Beast.
During a pre-Oscars event at his Bad Robot HQ in Los Angeles, Abrams said said that he wants Star Wars to be a more inclusive universe, then referenced LGBTQ community.
“To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility,” Abrams said. “So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say there wouldn’t be a homosexual character in that world.”
WhenThe Force Awakens was released, one of the most popular fan-paired couples to come out of it was between Finn and Poe. Fans have made it clear that they’re more than open to the idea of having an openly gay character in the films. Now according to Abrams, it’s just a matter of time until one officially appears.
Introducing ShameOver: A Conversation About Men’s Mental Health
In our culture, men are expected to be “strong” or “tough.” We regard the expression of feelings as a weakness. Look no further than the Webster’s Dictionary definition of “man,” which uses this as an exemplary sentence: “Don’t cry, little boy: be a man!“
Because emotions are not a weakness.
Watch: The way the country reacts to black actors in previously white roles only makes this worse.
Hello! Femsplain is a storytelling platform that focuses on amplifying the voices of people who identify as woman, non binary, agender and other gender nonconforming individuals. We publish mostly personal stories, sometimes articles that lean more towards women’s issues at large. We pay all our writers. We’re mostly funded out of pocket and have two full-time staff members, one part-time, and a budget allocated for original illustrations every month. We’re trying to stay away from annoying banner ads and focus on a beautiful user experience. But until then, we need your support! Become a Patreon supporter and help us continue to Femsplain.

This is important
It is one thing to acknowledge men as subjects created through gender and, as such, subjects created through violence because gender is violent. And I think that is a necessary thing, particularly for men who face marginalizations from positions other than their gender. It is another entirely to claim that they are victims of gender in the exact same way in which women are, or to the same extent, or that the ways in which gender restricts them are not things they have the collective social power to change- those things are false. Discussing the ways in which gender harms the ability of men to recognize their own feelings and so forth is important, but until the outlet en masse for (especially heterosexual) men’s emotional problems doesn’t come in the form of patriarchal violence/violence against women that’s not a conversation women should even be asked to be a part of.
@ young lesbians
It’s okay if you thought you were straight. It’s okay if you didn’t have little clues in your childhood that you weren’t. It’s okay if you grew up wanting a fairy tale wedding to a man. It’s okay if the first time you saw a same gender couple, you didn’t have an epiphany about what you wanted. It’s okay if you didn’t have a crush on your favourite Disney princess. It’s okay if you assigned yourself male crushes. It’s okay if you thought only boys could be gay. It’s okay if you dated or had sex with boys before you figured this whole identity thing out.
The way we raise children, especially girls, often tells you what you want and don’t want enough times that it can take actively trying to break the conditioning to figure out what you actually do and don’t want. It’s okay if it took a long time. It’s okay if it’s still ongoing. It’s okay if you doubt yourself.
If you come out the other side of figuring out what you yourself really want, and that involves relationships exclusively with other women, congrats, you’re a lesbian, and your identity is perfectly valid, and we’re here to welcome and support you.
Garbage Games Rhetoric Bingo
As in, rhetoric about games that is garbage, not rhetoric about garbage games. (But possibly also that.)
Obviously inspired (and based off of with permission from the lovely Ozzie) by @bikiniarmorbattledamage, here is a bingo of terrible arguments against social justice style critiques of video games. I am clearly not an artist; if you want to pretty this up, go ahead, that would be super cool.
You can use this to your heart’s content for dealing with inane arguments.

No offence but when u talk about “benefits scammers” and fraud in the benefits system without mentioning how it accounts for just 0.7% of welfare spending, u are actively contributing to the demonisation of disabled and poor people.
Also if u have no experience of being on benefits u don’t get a say lol
since i made this post i was sanctioned for a whole month, no money at all, because i was unable to attend my Work Programme due to being chronically ill. i provided proof of my illnesses in the form of a doctor’s note that explicitly described how my illnesses prevented my attendance, and was still punished. i only survived because of the generosity of friends and strangers.
make no mistake, our country’s “welfare system” is actively killing the disadvanteged, poor, and disabled, even after ATOS have been sacked. i will not go quietly.
I have a beard. It doesn't change the fact that women with hairy armpits are fucking gross. Men don't like that shit.

But Danny Rand is white in the comics, why is anyone surprised they would pick a white actor?
Because we had a petition here, because people have been pushing for an Asian Iron Fist since before Daredevil came out. quite a few posts have been circulating about how much Iron Fist would mean if it he was Asian. Not to mention DC has been racebending quite a few characters (Aquaman, Iris West, Deadshot) and we hoped that Marvel would try catching up by racebending a few characters too. But apparently that’s impossible and they refuse.

black-ish made television history last night
Last night, black-ish brought us into the middle of the tough conversations black families have been forced to have more and more recently. It did so with the utmost thought and humor, all the while giving nuanced, important depth to the issues of police brutality — including the characterization of police.
