WAS NESTA EVER HUMAN?

You know how some people in the fanom had theories that Freyes Mother is not human and that's why she couldn't be saved because she had a sickness that had to do with what she is and couldn't be treated with human healing.

Well you know how Nesta is often enough referenced by Freye how she looks so much like their mother out of the three

What if Nesta is actually the only child their mother had or her mother had Nesta with another mystic/magical type being and she had Elain and Freye with their Father.

It might explain why Nesta was preferred by their mother ( or it would seem so) and how Tamlin, a HIGH LORDS, glamor didn't work on her. How Nesta was able to tell when Freye went into Luciens mind ( even if she was high fae there), also why when Freye went into Nestas mind it was even darker than Rhysands darkness, who MIND YOU IS THE HIGH LORD OF THE NIGHT COURT so you would think that wouldn't be likely.

Freye also noticed how quick Nesta was able to be as still as a Fae, and has been described to tilt her head or look at someone like a predator would.

Even Amren couldn't figure out what her magic was. AMREN this extremely old knowledgeable being.

Also why Nesta is often referred as something else than a simple high fae: by Amren : “We are the same, you and I,” Amren said.

"Not in flesh, not in the thing that prowls beneath our skin and bones …” Amren’s remarkable eyes narrowed. “But … I see the kernel, girl.” Amren nodded, more to herself than anyone. “You did not fit—the mold that they shoved you into. and the Illyrians immediately recognized Nesta as something other than High Fae.

Then he noticed Nesta.

"What is that,” Devlon asked.

One of the other camp-lords made some sign against evil.

"Is she a witch"

I opened my mouth, but Nesta said flatly, “Yes.”

And I watched as nine full-grown, weathered Illyrian warlords flinched.

“She may act like one sometimes,” Cassian clarified, “but no—she is High Fae.”

“She is no more High Fae than we are,” Devlon countered.

Devlon muttered, “Keep her away from the females and children.”

Nesta is also referred to often enough as a "queen" ( queen without a throne so on) since the first book and will often be referred to as such sevral times through the other books

And of course the scene when Cassian and Freye went to the Carver :

“What if I tell you what the rock and darkness and sea beyond whispered to me, Lord of Bloodshed? How they shuddered in fear, on that island across the sea. How they trembled when she emerged. She took something—something precious. She ripped it out with her teeth.”

“What did you wake that day in Hybern, Prince of Bastards?”

“What came out was not what went in.” A rasping laugh as the Carver laid the shard of bone on the ground beside him. “How lovely she is—new as a fawn and yet ancient as the sea. How she calls to you. A queen, as my sister once was. Terrible and proud; beautiful as a winter sunrise.”

“What did she do, drowning in the ageless dark? What did she take?”

What's intresting here is when the Carver says "what did you wake", perhaps Nestas true power/nature she was born with has been cut off from her but has always been there.

"new as a fawn and yet ancient as the sea."

Reinforces this idea for me.

Also how the Carver talks about how the wind and earth etc talks about her idk the "wind and earth" didn't do that when Freye and Elain emerged apparently.

And the last point I want to make here is when Rhysand flew Nesta down to the townhouse and she got angry and her eyes looked like "Quicksilver set aflame" and Lucien with his magic eye thing also could not identify what it was or what she is:

Until Lucien breathed, “What are you?”

“Is that sort of thing even possible?” Cassian murmured when the door to her room had shut. “For someone to take from the Cauldron’s essence?”

"It would seem so,” Rhys mused, then said to Lucien, “The flame in her eyes was not of your usual sort, I take it.”

Lucien shook his head. “No. It spoke to nothing in my own arsenal. That was … Ice so cold it burned. Ice and yet … fluid like flame. Or flame made of ice.”

It’s New Year’s Eve in Australia! Today on the 31 December 2019 in Australian news:

4,000 people forced to shelter on the beach during midday daylight hours as the fires surround them in Victoria. The fire has since passed the beach but many homes were lost and they are still stuck on that beach.

Some families took boats to the water for safety:

The near entirety of east gippsland was evacuated on Monday and many areas remain inaccessible. That’s 30,000+ locals and assorted tourists

Similar evacuations play out in Nowra, NSW with the local population evacuating to the beaches as the skies turn black (it’s 4pm!).

and again at Bateman’s Bay…and again and again across the country.

The extent of the fires is creating dry thunderstorms - all the risks of lightning and none of the benefits of rain.

Sixty fires started today, adding to the two hundred that started on Monday. This is a map of all NEW fires in the past 24 hours

The Mogo zoo had to evacuate - thankfully the animals survived the immediate fire. People fleeing Mogo were cut off by the fires from the evacuation centres

Even those not directly in the path of the fires are experiencing the effects of the smoke as it drifts across town and effects health.

All these photos and snippets are from 31 December 2019, one day on Australia. There are more, but I’m getting depressed looking at them, trying to decide what tumblr would find interesting to share and raise awareness versus what won’t. Not a judgement call I like making.

It’s currently 6:30pm, so there’s still 5.5 hours left of this day for more to come. These fires are still going and the people in these photos are still not safe.

I’ve just discovered my new favorite painter, Vittorio Reggianini - those smarter than myself probably already know of him as an Italian painter from the 1800s who made satin look even satiny-er than satin. I just cannot get over how much he loved painting women who were NOT. HAVING. A. MAN’S. SHIT. 

But there was one hottie that everyone seemed to like, and I can’t blame them…

I love this. Vittorio is throwing some not-so-subtle shade on the misogyny of the era in that last one. Around that time, mass market printing was finally a thing, and people wrote the hell out of some novels, especially fiction. And the people who read the novels were mostly women, because they had somewhat more time on their hands. Middle and upper class men decided they were above reading. They frequently criticized the women for reading novels, saying it was going to corrupt their brains and turn them all into anarchists and lesbians. (Which wasn’t entirely untrue, lots of subversive and queer stuff was distributed in novel form.)

So that last painting is a dude getting over himself and the prejudices of the time and sharing an interest with the ladies, which is infinitely hotter than a dude invading personal space and looming over you like in several of those other paintings.

“Curiouser and curiouser!” Alice In Wonderland has been a fandom I’ve wanted to paper raid for the longest time! This was a papercraft commissioned by @loveyoumorestudio on IG for their Wonderland Box!

There were so many ways to approach presenting the Cheshire Cat, but how can one papercraft a disappearing cat? I took some elements from the Caterpillar character to give a more visual feel to Cheshire’s disembodiment. The color scheme was super fun, almost black-light-ish; totally digging aqua marine haired Alice.

i can’t be the only one who gets super sad when they think about what could have been with a movie adaptation/tv series of the mortal instruments?? we all know the movie was an abomination, and although the tv show is a bit better, it still didnt give justice to the books. like, i wanted stubborn and impulsive clary fray with her freckles and fiery red hair. i wanted simon lewis with glasses and dumb graphic tees in all his dorky glory. i wanted witty and sarcastic jace herondale with golden hair and eyes. i wanted the lightwood siblings, insecure and blunt and serious alec and his piercing blue eyes, badass izzy fighting in high heels with her whip, and even little max with his glasses and manga books. i wanted magnus bane, cat-eyes and glitter, and his constantly changing apartment and chairman meow. i wanted luke garroway with his flannel shirts and books. i wanted maia roberts to rise from her abusive past and kick ass as she rose to clan leader. i wanted all the epic love stories, from clace to sizzy to malec. i wanted to see idris and the glass city. i wanted valentine and sebastian, oh so charming and handsome but so cunning and manipulative. and dont even get me started on what we couldve seen with the infernal devices and the dark artifacts. we really missed out.

Don’t let people make fun of you for liking japanese culture.

I am living in japan right now and let me tell ya:

There are people here who can’t speak or understand English who play nothing but Missy elliot and ludacris, even in businesses like housing offices and restaurants.

There are people who have cowboy hats and dead cow skulls in their home because they idolize what they assume American homes are like.

There are people who learn English strictly through music videos and American television shows.

There are entire karaoke bars with english songs often sung by people who have no idea what the lyrics mean.

Japan often takes American shows like the powerpuff girls and make japanese versions of them.

They often mistake common Americans for celebrities. I have been mistaken for Micheal jordan, tiger woods, Shaquille o'neal, Tyler perry, and saddest of all: queen latifa.

The act of sprinkling English into your japanese sentences is considered cute and cool and is popular with teenagers. Bonus points if you happen to use it correctly.

Japanese stores sell shirts with english on them and people buy them not knowing that most of those word combinations are nonsense.

Don’t let someone shame you for singing an anime opening, using japanese in your sentences, wearing clothing with japanese on it, ect. If anything, this is just one more thing that you have in common with them.

For every american teenager that is screaming the lyrics to their favorite anime opening, there’s likely at least 1 or 2 Japanese teens singing English profanities at a karaoke bar.

If your child’s grades are dropping

DO NOT:

Yell at them for three hours

Take away their devices and look through them

Make them sit in their rooms in silent and do their homework alone

Side with the teacher and not get your child’s side of the story

Tell them that their grades are the most important thing they should worry about

INSTEAD:

Ask if they’re having trouble with other students or teachers

Sit down with them and help them with what they don’t understand

Speak calmly instead of yelling

Don’t invade their privacy by looking through their devices

Don’t take away their hobbies as punishment

Never make them feel unsafe or unable to trust you

This has been a message from a struggling high school junior that wishes their own parents actually did this stuff.
