anyways! ira rozanova is alexei’s only child. named after her grandmother even though i think it’s unlucky in slavic cultures to name your child after a deceased parent (do NOT quote me on this) but that’s fine because ira’s not particularly lucky
i think her early childhood is pretty charmed because of ilya’s spoiling. i also don’t think alexei is necessarily always a bad dad. he does become pretty shitty when he finds out about ira’s girlfriend getting her pregnant but that’s a later complication.
ira is a nationally ranked boxer, not a hockey player, and can’t skate at all. she’s an only child. she goes to an all girls school that ilya’s trust fund pays for, some fancy thing that schedules dances with the all boys school for diplomat’s children, which is where she meets her girlfriend.
ira’s girlfriend names herself valeria? the child of a mid-level russian economist. in my head she’s a deeply shy but very intelligent linguist. shes got a head for languages but it’s hard to be a translator when you wilt like an ill-behaved orchid whenever you have to talk to a stranger. she’s working on it.
originally i think alexei is thrilled that his daughter is dating this Good Boy who treats her with kindness. he’s a little soft, obviously, but Ira is a bruiser. she’s got fire. if alexei’s daughter is uncontrollable that’s not his problem. better that she’s with some soft man that lets her go wild than a man like alexei’s father who put the first irina in a gilded cage. all of the rozanovs are haunted by irina rozanova the elder

anyways. at sixteen valeria gets ira pregnant. whoops. it’s a big fucking mess in the moscow social scene. the mess becomes bigger when it comes out somehow at the same time that valeria is transgender.
ira and valeria, in their infinite wisdom, decide to go to canada. i don’t think they even know what they want, just that they shouldn’t be in russia. they show up at the tire center before a game like hello. famously, we knew you would be here 🧍
ira has the baby because it’s too late to terminate and hollanov takes it i think. they go from being dinks to having emergency custody of two teenagers and adopting a baby in a single season. wild times
