ninth embroidery ever👍🏽
cut a giant hole in my tshirt because there was a print on it I didn’t like but it’s now the base of my latest embroidery project. I’m doing a red edge (which has accidentally becoming frilled because I am not good at sewing as a general rule and also that’s just how fabric moves). but then ill be putting ribbons across it so its like a semi open back style thing and I’ll be doing an embroidery piece on the front. I am yet to decide on the piece.
seventh embroidery ever 👍🏽
it seems I believe equal spacing and size are not important parts of embroidery………

does anyone have any favourite hand-sewing/embroidery/mending/darning youtube channels like stuff that would be good guides for beginners
If you want to elevate your satin stitch filling , I recommend doing a single line of running stitches around the area you want to fill in before you do the vertical stitching because the running stitches give it a three dimensional appearance.
Random and probably unnecessary embroidery tips/tricks for beginners:
* When separating out strands, it's often easier to separate them one at a time; separating two or three at a time can cause the threads to get tangled together, but doing them one at a time prevents this.
Vs
(the threads will bunch together, but not tangle. So you can just straighten them out and separate another individual thread)
*When working on a piece from a kit, you may notice that your fabric starts coming undone at the edges and pulling apart. Doing a simple blanket stitch all around the edge will keep the edges together.
*If you're having trouble with French knots, make sure that you are holding the needle the proper direction - that is, with the point facing away from the fabric when you wrap the threads around it.
I wasn't originally going to make this post, because I'm sure most people already know these things, but then I remembered that no one told me about them because they probably assumed I also already knew. So if even one person finds these tips helpful, I will be happy 😊
If anyone wants to know what I did today...
