Beware the promises you make to the Goblin Queen . . . especially if you plan to break them. An all-new graphic novel!
THE GOBLIN THRONE IS LIVE ON KICKSTARTER!
My newest book, an adult lesbian folk-horror-romance graphic novel about a goblin marriage contract gone very, very wrong, is being published by the wonderful folks over at Iron Circus Comics -- and you can finally get a copy!
I've been working on this book since 2023, and it's my finest, nastiest comic yet. It's a three-part fable told from three perspectives, about a young woman who makes a bargain with the queen of the goblins to trade her firstborn child in exchange for protection from a young man in her village who's been following her. Unfortunately, she is unprepared for the consequences that follow this bargain -- and the consequences of breaking a vow made to a monster.
Like all my books, this comic is drawn entirely by hand, in colored pencil! (Also, there's an opportunity in the Kickstarter to buy a page of original art from the book from me, which is something I almost never sell...)
If you're a "read it before you buy it" type, good news -- I'm also posting pages of this comic as a webcomic. Over half of the story is already up, and I'm posting a page a day til the bitter end. You can follow along this summer as the story reaches its conclusion!
If you're a person who likes lesbian horror-romance, and original fables served with a lot of moral complexity, I hope you'll check this out <3

Waiting list time! Comm for @novafire-is-thinking.
one time in college i was in a creative writing class and this guy was holding up the critique with what i can only describe as like cinemasins dinging another student's writing. and at some point the professor said "the plot is the fork and the prose is the meal. you are critiquing the taste of the fork"
when i say cinemasins dinging i mean the piece of writing being critiqued was a scifi short story about a woman living on a space station holding a funeral for her baby. and this guy was like "the setting isn't detailed enough there's not enough world building"
What if silence is in fact a sound, but because its a universal sound we just adapted to it and dont notice it anymore
I actually just wrote a paper on this!!
The short of it is, yes, that's exactly what happens. There's no such thing as pure silence outside of a vacuum (and inside a vacuum you'd be dead). So basically your ears are constantly adapting to the noise threshold of your surroundings and slowly ignoring it. If you were in a perfectly silent room (anechoic chambers are cool!) you would actually start to hear the sound of existing!
Isn't there some room full of sound baffling foam or something that absorbs all ambient noise and most people go mad from the isolation because they start to hear things like their own circulatory system and their heartbeat pounding in their ears?
Ah, there it is. Orfield Labratories in Minnesota. They say the longest anyone's been able to stay inside was 45 minutes, as they could hear their lungs expanding and their digestive system working overtime.

I’m obsessed with my 19 year old coworker. I was telling him about how my crashout divorced dad got a sugar mommy by going to random churches and having screaming sobbing breakdowns in the pews until a random rich christian widow was like ‘I can fix him’. And he went ‘yo thats tech. The meta is changing.’
