'When the past comes to test you, remember the present.'
Part 02: The conclusion.
Part one link here.

This is short, it's a conclusion. No trigger warnings needed.
Caleb stared at the caller ID emotionlessly.
'Macie 'Pipsqueak' incoming call.
Decline or Answer.
After weeks of watching her flaunting her marriage to Sylus and her 'housewife' aesthetic, why would she call him?
His thumb hovered over the answer button. He was going to answer until...
"Caleb...I forgot to serve dessert." Your guilty voice came from behind him.
He eased up, tension visibly left his body.
What was he doing? Why was he giving in?
He wants to build this marriage with you, not wallow away in a love he could never have.
"Why aren't you answering that?" You ask him with a frown, you saw it.
And yet, he chuckled as he powered off his phone.
"Scam caller..." He answered you as he tossed his phone aside. "What you made for dessert?"
"Tanghulu and Tangyuan."
"Why not kheer or something from your culture?"
"Because dinner was from mine, it's only fair that dessert is from yours."
Caleb smiled and sat opposite you as you both ate dessert.
"I get scam calls too." You suddenly say to him. "But I don't answer. I reported the number."
Caleb shook his head, scam calls...
Wait...
He looked at you now with surprise.
Sylus called you? You blocked him?
Before he could ask about it, you were gone to bed.
That night when he was in bed, he powered on his phone.
20 missed calls from Macie 'Pipsqueak'
Call back or message.
Caleb didn't hesitate.
He taped the 3 dot icon on the contact and selected his option.
Block.
“Are you sure you want to block Macie 'Pipsqueak'? This action can only be undone after 31 days.”
The notification popped up.
Caleb grimaced. He clicked the option again.
Block anyway.
The loading icon came on the screen, followed by the notification that made the weight lift off Caleb's shoulders.
“You have blocked this person, you cannot receive or make calls and messages to this contact.”
He switched off his phone and turned to you. You were sleeping with your back facing him. He held onto you and drifted off to sleep.
Caleb doesn't need Macie. All he needs is his beautiful wife who was healing just as he was.
Your bond was worth saving, atleast to him...
That's it!...

'When 2 broken hearts come together in silence, who knows what bond could form...'
CW: heavy angst with comfort, mentions of MC, betrayal, heartbreaking angst, open ending, no part 2.
This was a union built on a whim.
Macie married Sylus, breaking both yours and Caleb's heart.
Caleb's, he loved Macie more than himself.
Yours, you loved Sylus as the dry earth did monsoon rain.
The day you both married was the same day as Sylus and Macie. Two broken hearts trying to fix each other with their shattered parts.
You were a extinguished diya, tears dry on your cheeks, kajal smudged like your bindi as you signed the marital document.
Caleb's face was cold, distant as if he was carved from candle wax when he signed the document, binding himself to you legally.
You, poor you... You had nowhere to go. That was why you agreed to wed him when he asked.
Then there was Caleb, the boy who remembered you from your college days and never approached you as Macie was his 'one and only'.
How very ironic huh?
"Where are we going?" You ask him softly, your voice was hoarse from disuse.
After signing the documents, you soon found yourself seated next to him in a car, going off to Bhagwan knows where.
Caleb didn't answer.
It was as if he never heard you, at least that was what you thought until...
"My home in Skyhaven."
That was it. No other words. Just the place he was taking you to live at from now onwards and nothing else.
When you reached his home, it was a wreck. Everything was broken like its owners. You never questioned it. You knew why it was a wreck.
You also would've done the same.
Caleb directed you to your now shared room. Once alone, you silently cried, muffling your sobs and cries into your saree pallu.
Your Sylus betrayed you. Your Sylus loved someone else. Your Sylus...your Sylus who you loved so much that you left behind your home forever never loved you enough to do the same...
"Narak mein saro..." You cursed his photo and crumpled it.
The days that followed were met with silence from both you and Caleb.
You'd wake up early, make his lunch and send him to work then, you'd busy yourself with chores to not think of the past.
To not think about Sylus.
Whenever Caleb came from work, you both would eat in silence then head to rest.
He too, would busy himself tinkering in the house or overworking on fleet reports.
So he wouldn't think of Macie.
That would have been both of your routines for weeks, months or even years.
Until one Friday afternoon.
You had just decorated your lamp for the divine goddess Lakshmi. You lit your lamp and prayed.
Caleb came home early and witnessed your prayer.
He didn't speak, he didn't comment or remark anything. He simply observed you.
When you were done, that was when he spoke. The words came out naturally on their own.
"I'm home..."
You froze. Not because he came home, it was because this was the first time he spoke in days since your wedding to him.
"Welcome home." You replied softly.
The colonel gave you a subtle nod then headed to freshen up. You prepared tea for both of you and sat down, straightening out your saree as you did.
The beautiful red bordered white kanjivaram saree was draped on you elegantly. The pallu was draped across your chest to serve as a blouse.
You didn't care much for it. It was your outfit every Friday. But Caleb noticed how you took pride in your dressing.
But he never mentions it.
He wondering what would happen if he did build this marriage with you.
And so that evening, he spoke to you about it after dinner.
He did the dishes then washed his hands before taking a seat not opposite you, but beside you by the table.
"I want to apologize to you..." He began gently, "I was heartbroken by Macie and Sylus's wedding...I forced this union on you...I am deeply ashamed of myself."
You heard him as he spoke. You noticed everything. The tremble in his hand, the guilt etched onto his delicate waxen features.
He meant every bit of his apology.
"I hope you find it in yourself to forgive me some day...but, I want to make this union work. The rest is up to you." Caleb ended, at this point, he was ready to leave.
Ready to leave you to think about what he had said, perhaps even for you to shut him out.
But you surprised him by slowly placing a palm on his shoulder.
"I should apologize." You began somberly, "I only agreed because I have nowhere to go....when I courted Sylus, I left my papa's house behind me...I couldn't return there."
It was Caleb's turn to listen now. He patiently heeded to your woes.
How you ran away from your father's house just to be with Sylus yet, in that 4 years you courted Sylus, he never once asked you marry him.
The cards were clear, Sylus had no intention to wed you. You were kept as his 'decoration' in his gloomy house.
"You shouldn't apologize..." Caleb spoke warmly, covering your hand on his shoulder with his mechanical one.
"You were young and naive...Sylus took advantage of that."
Your lower lip trembled at his words, you held back your tears as he spoke further.
"I am not the best at warm words but, let's make this bond between us work...You don't have to love me. We'll simply live quietly and with respect for one another."
You listened to him speak. He did have a point. You couldn't live like strangers forever. A bond of respect was far better than the coldness of the previous few days.
"I agree..."
The first week of this new beginning was an awkward learning experience.
You found out quickly that he hated coriander. You used it less in cooking now. You also found out of his love for planes.
Caleb on the other hand noticed how much you loved your bangles and sarees. You wore sarees more than the dresses that hung in your wardrobe but, he also learnt that you hated spinach with a passion.
Soon, you both warmed up to each other.
A beautiful bond began to blossom between you both. The kind of bond that a lotus has to the muddy depths of a river.
Although forged upon the melody of two broken hearts, Caleb and you found a unique way to live together.
One evening, he came home with a gift bag. "I'm home." He called from the door as he entered the house, removing his shoes and setting it on the shoe rack.
You were in the kitchen, heating up dinner and dressed in a lilac and gold saree with a pretty jasmine gajra in your hair.
"Welcome home." You replied timidly as you gently stirred the pot of food on the stove.
"What's for dinner?" He asked warmly as he came in the kitchen. "It smells lovely in here..."
"Butter chicken and garlic Naan." You replied.
Caleb chuckled. He wouldn't admit it but, he enjoyed this particular dish you prepared.
He already felt his mouth watering for the rich flavourful dish.
"I'll freshen up and come..."
He practically ran off to freshen up. You fixed 2 plates of dinner in the meantime and waited for him at the dining table.
Caleb joined you after a few minutes, unashamedly inhaled 3 servings of the food. You held back a smile.
"I got you something by the way." He said casually whilst eating. "Open it when we're done here."
"I also got you something." You blurt out. Caleb froze in surprise.
"Really?"
"Yes..." You replied with a cute determined look on your face. Caleb chuckled.
"Fine... I'll open it when you open what I got you."
That was the agreement. After dinner and cleaning up, Caleb and you sat opposite each other with your respective gifts.
You opened yours first, pulling out a beautiful peacock print saree with a green shawl from the bag and a new pair of anklets.
"You got this for me?" You ask him, a smile formed upon your lips as you shook the anklets. A sweet twinkling sound echoed in the house.
"Of course I did..." Caleb began, "I know how much you love your traditional clothes, you wear them everyday...so I got you a new outfit..."
You thanked him and then watched as he opened the gift you got him.
It was a puzzle, a plane puzzle. Fixing the pieces together would build a plane.
"You told me that you like planes and jets...I saw this on sale and thought of you...so I got it." You explained but then in a softer voice, you asked: "Do you like it?"
Like it? Caleb loved it!
He motions you to sit closer to him as he opened the puzzle onto the coffee table.
"Help me build it..." He asked gently and you agreed.
"Can you pass me that piece over there please?" He asked.
"Where does this piece go?" You ask when you completed a part of the plane model.
"Over there, the right side." Caleb answers as he points to the place.
4 gruelling hours later, you both were done. Caleb set the plane model on the shelf next to the TV.
"Perfect." He praised before gazing down at you. "Thank you Y/n...for everything."
You smile up at him, a genuine smile after a long time. "You're welcome Caleb..." You answered timidly.
Unexpectedly, your hands brushed closely together. Neither of you pull away.
But your sweet moment however was interrupted by a phonecall.
"Excuse me." Caleb murmured sheepishly and turned to his phone. The smile fell from his face at the sight of the caller ID.
'Macie 'Pipsqueak' incoming call.
Decline or Answer.

P.O.V: Kamal Rai's playful wife.
The bear of the Dozen, the head of the Rai family, Kamal Rai.
That's who everyone knew him as.
Kamal Rai whose arms are so strong that Britishers fear when he loses his composure for he can potentially grind them to dust.
Yet no one knows the man hasn't had a stitch of rest ever since he married you...
You were a mischievous heiress. Your parents believed that marrying you off to a man as stoic as Kamal would discipline you.
Oh, how wrong they were.
On your wedding night itself, your mischief began. When he showered to come rest, you colored his bathwater with turmeric. The man was flabbergasted by your audacity.
The days that followed, you barely behaved.
Whenever he worked, you'd walk into his study wearing a set of his clothes and barking orders as he did.
"Where is the file for the business expense?!"
"This chai has less sugar, make it again!"
"I have to go check on Deviya, she might make a mistake again."
The man would silently watch you mock him then he would tiredly continue his work, leaving you fuming from his lack of reaction.
At a Dozen gathering, you'd mock his walk behind him but when he turns, you would be the image of a devi.
When he is about to tell you to stop, he freezes because...
He recognises the scent you wore. His perfume oil!?
"I have to smell like you, people must know I'm married to you." You'd flirt with him and go off.
The man would be red cheeked and struggling to regain his composure.
Today was the same...
"If you be nice Kamal-Ji...I'll return your clothes." You chime mischievously to him.
The man just wanted to swim, to escape the blazing summer heat of Calcutta for a few moments but, that was impossible with you around.
"Saahiba return my clothes please?" *He asked politely. You smile sweetly at him and shook your head no.
The bear was stunned. In all his years, no heiress was as audacious as you. Stealing his clothes was a far thought for them yet for you, it was a whim!
"Saahiba..." He called in a softer and more lower tone, the kind of tone that he knew you liked.
Your cheeks redden, your gaze met his.
"Fine... I'll give them back." You say and leave his clothes nearby. What you never expected was him tugging you into the water.
"SAAHIB!" You exclaimed as he held you close into his chest, smothering your form with water and sweat.
"You aren't the only one who can tease in this relationship saahiba..." He whispered to you and kissed up your neck.
And he reminded you thoroughly that day in the pool why you shouldn't always be mischievous with him...

P.O.V: You're married to Doran Basu
This was a union NOT of your choosing. You were happy unmarried. Your life was comfortable in your father's house until, he passed away and your brother took over.
Your sister-in-law spoke with Vidya and got you married to Doran. That was how you got here in Kilphagrami, living at a mansion in a village.
Doran was outside seeing to his garden whilst you scrubbed your sword. You walked outside and grimaced at the ladies watching him from the gate.
"Master Doran is handsome."
"Look at his strong arms!"
"I wish he could flex a little for us."
"Look, he's doing so!"
Doran smirked at them and stood up, flexing his impressive built to them.
The girls squealed in delight until...
"Yeah, why don't you marry these 'drain rats' and divorce me?" You asked in anger and frustration.
The girls looked at you with contempt. "You should consider it a boon that Young master Basu even married you." One yelled.
You raised an eyebrow and looked at Doran.
"I'm supposed to ba happy that I am married this 'smelly thandasoru' ?" You murmured, shocking all the women.
Before that girl could further pester you, you went inside the house and came out with a rifle.
All the girls ran behind Doran.
The man was surprised you actually brought out his rifle. The man smirked arrogantly as you pointed the gun at him.
"Darling, I know you won't shoot." He chuckled out.
But he was silenced when you actually did.
**BANG!**
"Satyanash with you!...How could you shoot your husband!?" the healer scolded you as she patched Doran up.
You shot his arm, a major shocker to all the girls and a silent declaration that you don't follow the 'patti parmeshwar' complex most indian women follow.
Doran groaned in pain but, when his eyes met yours, he smirked.
"I never thought you'd shoot me wife..." He grit out with a smile. "Perhaps I should pimp you more often."
You cocked the rifle and pointed it at him again. The color drained from his face.
"Try me and see what happens." You warned him then turned to the ladies at the gate.
"As for you Mundhirikottais! Come near my husband again or gawk at him, I'll cut your necks and pour dhaar in your mouths!" You threatened them.
They ran away immediately.
Doran chuckled. "That's my Moodevi."

CW: Favouritism, partiality, feminine rage, implied cheating.
Mahadev was in deep meditation upon Mountain Kailash, watching the world through Ratan's eyes and also overseeing the universal affairs.
Beneath the Palash tree sat Maa Parvati. She was angry as she watched how Devi disrespected Sakshi again and again, even going as far as snatching her consort Kamal Rai.
"This isn't right!...I will have to do something." The mother thought to herself as she closed her eyes in anger. From her forehead, a light emerged.
Shamshan Kali appeared. Her eyes were full of fire and anger.
"You carried Sakshipriya and named her when she was born...Your daughter now is suffering at the hands of her own blood." Maa Parvati pointed out to Shamshan Kali.
The rage-filled goddess looked towards where Sakshipriya sat in the Kalighat, declaring that she would ruin the Dozen.
The goddess froze time and spoke to Maa Parvati.
"If Mahadev could turn a simple man as Ratanjot Vaish to Rita-Shiv...why can't we? Why can't you turn Sakshipriya Sharma to Rita-Shakti?"
Maa Parvati considered her alter-ego's words. She gazed at Sakshi. The pain in her eyes was far too much. She was always placed second when she was one of the most clever and strong woman alive.
"Rita-Shakti..." She began, testing the sound of the title before turning to Shamshan Kali, "Rita-Shakti.. Sakshipriya will be a part of us from today."
Shamshan Kali smiled as they both sent back a golden orb and had it enter Sakshi's ajna energy.
"Now the world will burn." Shamshan Kali thought to herself as time resumed.
"Parvati, what have you done?" Came Mahadev's voice with worry. Shamshan Kali returned to her abode upon his arrival. Maa Parvati frowned.
"I did nothing wrong Mahadev...I simply aided my daughter that is in need." She answered before taking her seat beneath the Palash tree.
Mahadev turned his attention to Calcutta. He needed to alert Ratanjot about this.
"All in due time." He thought to himself Before he headed to where Maa Parvati sat and began to calm her wrath.
(2 weeks later)
Sakshipriya was dancing alongside Christian. Her movements were like fluid next to his hesitant, beginner ones.
"You need to stop being so stiff Lord De Clare." She couldn't help but chastise him as he almost fell over.
The Governor-General didn't speak. He just remained quiet as she corrected him then began to dance with her again.
The more he danced with his wife-to-be, the more grounded he felt.
Yet as he danced, he realised just how full of anger his new wife-to-be was. Her way of dancing showed it.
Aggressive, proud and movements with underlying rage. He couldn't keep up with her.
Until...
"Allow me to dance with you Sakshipriya Sharma." Ratan's soothing voice echoed in the dance room.
The Demi-god walked in with a calm, ethereal smile.
Sakshi, alerted by his sudden warmth, agreed despite her distrust of him.
"Watch Christian." She advised the Governor-General as she stood beside Ratan whilst he performed the mandatory prayer greeting.
They began to dance. Sakshi sang along with the singers there.
Each step, each mudra, each movement was perfectly synced as if Ratan predicted her movements but in truth, he felt his shiva energy channel Sakshi's shakti energy.
"What is this?" Ratan couldn't help but ask mentally as his dance soon began to calm Sakshi's aggressiveness. A genuine smile now formed on her lips.
She continued to sing along with the song that the musicians played. Ratan danced with her in perfect harmony.
Christian felt for a moment that he was watching a pair of swans dance as he watched from how aggressive the dance started to now being so soft and graceful.
"Beautiful..." He murmured but got called away by Diana to finish his paperwork but, Ratan and Sakshi weren't done. They weren't just dancing anymore.
Yet elsewhere in Tamas-Vitala. Ratan's demigod form was NOT dancing as his earthly form was...no.
On his throne sat his Shakti, her eyes glowed like embers behind her veil. She was not pleased, she was not happy either.
She was in rage and in pain.
Her eyes glowed a deep red, a silent warning to him to bow or she'll have his head. He silently bowed and wondered, Why was his Shakti so angry? Why his Shakti never let him see her face?
Back in the Earthly plane, Ratan and Sakshi concluded their dance. Ratan smiled as he gazed at Sakshi, who seemed thoroughly satisfied with how their dance went.
But she became distant and cold once again once reality set in again. "To dance with you was an honour...I should leave now." She said to him in her detached voice.
Before Ratan could call out or speak to her, she removed her anklets and went off. He frowned.
"Why does my heart ache?" He asked as he clutched his chest. He felt painful tugs at his heart the more he thought of how Sakshi just dismissed him.
Soon, the long awaited weekend arrived and so did the day of Christian's gathering. Sakshi draped upon herself a blue, cream and gold banarasi silk saree with matching ornaments.
Tonight was the night that the Dozen would see Sakshi for who she was.
No just a pushover, not a naagin, as many called her but, as Sakshipriya, the cunning Sharma of the Dozen.
As she went to her carriage, Sakshi caught sight of Devi and Kamal. He was adjusting Devi's pallu and whispering sweet words to her. Up until a month ago, that would have been Sakshi.
It wasn't like she hated Kamal. Back when she was Lady Rai, she did show affection to the giant when she could.
"Your beard needs to be trimmed." She casually reminded him as he worked in the study.
"I don't have time for that my lady." Kamal replied as he set his pen down and gazed tiredly at her.
That week was tedious on the bear. Running to the Sharma estate, paperwork pile up and the meetings were killing the man. Yet Sakshi had her way and helped him through it all.
Even now, seeing how she smirked and walked to him with the small comb and scissors, Kamal knew his lady was going to have her way yet again.
"You don't have time to take care of yourself, but I do." She whispered to him as she sat in his lap and began trimming his beard so he looked neat.
Once she was done, she'd showed him in the mirror how he looked. "So handsome." she would compliment him. Pleased with her handiwork, Kamal would kiss her.
Not once. Not twice.
He would forget his work and hold her close, kissing and pleasing his lady.
But what use was all that affection when he cheated on her with her little sister?
"I have to stop feeling sorry for myself." Sakshi murmured to herself as she tore her gaze away from the two traitors and headed to her carriage.
The past was the past, tonight everything will change....
This was long overdue. Part 04 is in the works. I hope you girls enjoy this story.
Here is the song Ratan and Sakshi danced for:
Take care y'all.

Toji Fushiguro headcanons: (married to a desi girl!)
Husband Toji! admires you in the morning in your chettinad house that he built for you after he learnt how much you loved the architecture.
Husband Toji! wants to fluster you early in the morning so as you drape your saree on, he'll either whistle at you or hug you from behind in his naked glory.
Husband Toji! who watches you pray and as he hears you praying for his long life by Mahadev, his heart clenches each time because, he feels he doesn't deserve you.
Husband Toji! notices you're the only one on your feet at a family gathering at your maternal home so, he sweeps you off your feet, ignoring your protests and yells over his shoulder to your cousin sisters "My wife is tired, go help your mothers."
Husband Toji! shit talks about your relatives at a gathering, especially your aunties that pester you both to have babies.
Husband Toji! goes to the temple with you every evening for service, dressed in a dhoti and kurta because he wants to learn more of your culture and why you love it so much.
Husband Toji! finds he's growing a stomach pooch after eating the food you lovingly prepare for him everyday like now, he finished 5 servings of butter chicken on his own.
Husband Toji! enjoys bantering with you, watching as you switch between cussing him in your native tongue then back to English. He lives for you calling him a Madhir-chod.
Husband Toji! won't admit to you how much he really loves you, instead he'll show his affection to you by letting you spend the money he earned on new sarees and jewellery so he can doll you up everytime a gathering comes around in your family.
Husband Toji! whose breath is suddenly taken away when you wear a green saree and leave your hair down. "Green is the color of your eyes...I wear it so I become the kajal that keeps the nazar away." You say to him sweetly.
The man becomes putty when you say stuff like that.
